Maybe by switching it within the Simcard menu app, but that should already be possible without this update

But would be nice, indeed.

btw: does the Jolla C really has two modems/antennas? So we have a real dual SIM?
Both SIM at the same time fully online (not like I use phone so I cannot use internet at the same time or vice versa -even more worse?

could someone report if the android version got a bump too?

Code:

https://together.jolla.com/question/...starting-soon/

Things I've spotted during my time on 2.0.2 (using it since a week or so). It's pretty feature packed, so I may have forgotten something:
New "Storage" page in Settings
Simple file manager built-in
Dual sim support
There is an option to avoid launching Alien Dalvik at boot
Character counter in Messages (must be enabled in Settings)
Call recorder
Undo option for Camera settings
Reboot button on powermenu (must be enabled in Settings)
A bunch of new languages and keyboard layouts
Reworked Media app home page
New Flashlight setting shortcut
Quick actions can now be put into the Lockscreen shortcuts (yay!)
"Flip to silence calls and alarms" can now be disabled via UI
The Web Browser now opens links in a new tab (yaaay)
The Web Browser can now close every tab on exit

absolutely no. most likely Jolla1 is stuck at 4.1.2 forever.

Thanks, I asked the same question in the Jolla C thread.

It would be strange if they need to support different versions for different devices. More complex QA etc.

Strange, "version --dup" ran without any issue, obviously the OS has been updated (some patches don't work like combined launcher and analog clock), but the settings UI still says 2.0.1.x.

I also update via
Code:

ssu re 2.0.2.45
Code:

ssu ur
Code:

version --dup
Before i deactivated all patchesm but it seems that is not enough.
This patches need to be uninstalled before update:
More Network Modes Patch by Coderus
(I also deactivated the coderus-ofono repo, bacause of different ofono-versions)
Sailfishos-Shutdown-Text by Shturman
Count SMS Symbols

Thanks to all autors of this patches by the way, i used all of them and was happy.
No some of them are integrated and some incompatible....
Still has the old 2.0.1.11 Pictures in the Sailfish Updates in Settings.
Settings About show the correct Version 2.0.2.45

Anybody knows how to update the picture-version-package ?

That would surprise me. The patch uninstalls itself if the dependencies are no longer met.
Anyway, the patch is no longer necessary:

The Jolla 1 is stuck on 4.1 because of its kernel version. The Tablet Android version is 4.4.4, so I expect the Jolla C to be on that (or greater).

Wow, that new Messages cover is absolutely terrible. On par with the Notes cover for 'worst idea in the history of Sailfish'. I like that it now adapts what's visible on the cover to the length of the sent/received messages, but that white background... why. In fact the white background is not even the worst thing about it, that award goes to the ALL-CAPS NAMES.

Something else I don't like is that going from the lock screen to the home screen now shows an unnecessary fade-in animation which blocks you from doing anything else. Going from lock screen to an open application doesn't do this, however.

The flashlight switch doesn't really seem to work.

I don't get the new Salamander ambience considering it's just a red version of Freedom, and there's no salamander on there.

Accounts seemed to be broken but restarting Settings made it work again.

The fonts look slightly different, except in Terminal where they look very different (and not in a very good way).

I do like the redesign of some icons in the media player and Documents, the basic file manager in Settings (it also works for internal storage, but you have to access it from the pulley menu) and the character count for SMS (at last!).

Now I'm curious if sounds suddenly stopped working or if it's just my speaker acting up again. Great news! Sounds were just broken until reboot. No idea why, but it works again, so I'm happy.

Edit: in fact, the problem seems to be the flashlight switch! If the flashlight is on (or if the system thinks the flashlight is on), sounds are off! What, why, how? This doesn't happen when using the flashlight switch from OpenRepos, which always works and doesn't mute all sounds while it's on.

That depends. The intention is the same.

I would not call TMavica's post "offensive". Saying that someone's code has some room for improvement when it does is not a personal attack. Would you consider it a personal attack if someone told you that hou are a bad singer?

Schturman is clearly a beginner but he is also clearly keen to improve and, equally importantly, he shares the steps he makes on his way to improvement with the rest of us. For that alone he deserves my full respect and appreciation. No one was born an expert and everyone, even the experts, makes mistakes. The way Schturman shares his experiences for others to learn the same stuff and avoid the same mistakes is nothing but commendable.

It does, but it takes forever to activate. Like,"three minutes forever", not "three seconds forever". I found my seat in the dark cinema long before the flashlight finally turned on. Luckily the old !!enable_switch is still there, doing the same thing instantly.

Quote:

Yes, finally. Not a year too soon. The placement of the counter could be better but I guess they did not want to copy my design completely :D

Other things I would put into the "finally" category:
  • The option to record calls
  • The reboot option
  • The option to turn off that terribly unreliable "flip to reject a call" feature

It seems to do a whole lot more than just a flip a switch (if you've seen my edit to my post, it somehow manages to completely block playback of any kind of audio or video as long as it's enabled), which could be why it's taking so long.

It actually pauses the music when turning the flash light on and starts playing when turning off the flash light. It also takes almost a minute to turn the switch on first time.

I wonder if this works on Jolla-C correctly. Still should be reported on tjc.

Regarding new messages cover i can at least see where they are coming from. It has greatly improved in readabillity.
All caps is a no-go and coming up with a cover that now looks inconsistent to all the others totally spoils the effort though.
Maybe we should come up with some mock-ups of how we would like it and still have better readabillity?
Starting ignored tjc-questions regarding design decisions is one of my hobbies.

Salamander may be the name someone gave to that red?

Tested on 2 of my jollas, flashlight took 30 sec. to activate from new shortcut on the first phone and ~10 seconds on the other.
Can also confirm music being paused or stopped, depending on the app.

Bubbles, are you sure to test the new method, being a shortcut in the events-pully you have to activate from settings to show up?

EDIT:
Made a quick tjc-question regardig the flashlight

EDIT:
after a reboot, it took around 20 sec. again on first activation.
In answer to bubbles post below, muted speakers have no effect in my case. First activation after reboot takes ages, next on/off vary from 0,5 - 2 seconds.

Sailfish OS updates will tell you 2.0.1.11 is ready to be installed as an update, but About product and the Terminal should definitely show 2.0.2.45. Maybe a couple of packages weren't updated because of conflicts or dependency problems with patches or other packages from OpenRepos. I forgot how to check if this is the case, but someone else probably knows the right command.

Re: SailfishOS 2.0.2.390 -> 2.0.2.43 -> 2.0.2.45 Aurajoki

Is anyone else experiencing SD card issues on 2.0.2.45 ? I'm seeing a lot (thousands of lines per second) of
Code:

[  389.651854] mmcblk1: timed out sending SET_BLOCK_COUNT command, card status 0x400f00
[  389.651854] mmcblk1: command error, retrying timeout

and
Code:

[  389.636777] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk1, sector 204688
[  389.636777] Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk1p1, logical block 21490
[  389.636777] lost page write due to I/O error on mmcblk1p1

and sometimes even
Code:

[  496.120646] mmc1: Card stuck in programming state! mmcblk1 mmc_blk_err_check
in dmesg when doing heavy SD operations (like dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/mmcblk1p1 bs=4k ).

//EDIT: BTW, 2.0.2 allows us to have swap partitions on SD cards. That would be a great feature if these SD issues wouldn't be there.

//EDIT²: Never mind, the card seems to be failing. This is just a bit weird as it's a big brand, the card is just 2 months old, has plenty of free space and the one used before (used for a way longer time, same brand) still works fine in another device. Also it smells a bit fishy that the card started to fail at the exact same time I updated.

Maybe a couple of packages weren't updated because of conflicts or dependency problems with patches or other packages from OpenRepos. I unapplied all patches before...
Thanks

Try running the version --dup command multiple times, I had to execute it around 3 times before everything was updated.

//EDIT: Also disable none openrepos repos (the openrepos repos ofc, too), like mer-tools.

Where is the option hidden to restore backups (e.g. from Taalojärvi)? I can only make backups and update backups, but haven't found a way yet to restore them...
