Nobody was asking council to mandate anything. I think it was more, should maemo have a mascot, should there be a contest similar to the maemo logo contest. I personally would like to see an official mascot, for the project, but thats up to YOU to get Nokia involved if you think it would be a good idea.

So the question went out to Council, should we have an official mascot? (Not will you make everyone use a Raccoon or a Narwhal)

Whatever design you agree on, be sure to let Stupid Little Genius have a go at it !
S.L.G. has a flair for making sketches alive and personal.

Don't let them make you modify your designs to much, they might lose some of their personality.

I was going to suggest a bacterium as a mascot, but looking at their photos they look too much like a tampon crossed with a sperm.
