Why do I feel like I live in a 3rd world country???? Is it too much to expect to be able to walk in to a Rogers outlet and buy one?

Hi, do you have a retail version or a loaner from NOkia, if retail where did you get it from?

To answer you question if you look on previous post in this thread you will have the answer basicaly we need 2 frequency that equal the one of the 3G for the N900 and in Canada no carrier has those frequency active. Videotron and Roger have them but inactive for the moment. We have to live with that for the moment as we are like a 3rd world country. By that time you have to use wifi or edge with Roger/Fido

@dgenge - I think the frequencies for 3G that the N900 use are common in Europe and Asia. The new spectrum that was auctioned off last year is what we need to use for the N900. But no carrier currently is providing service on that AWS spectrum.

It look I answer at the same time...

Anyone that has ordered the N900 has had custom delays?
Around how much time did you have to wait?

Me. No custom delay as per real time current tracking canada post my N900

2009/12/07 07:51 VILLE ST-LAURENT International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs

2009/12/08 07:40 International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post .

The biggest dellay is shipping it was ship USPS 3 days express international from NYC it took 12 days (I always use USPS and it never took that long maybe holiday in US + Christmas time approach). Also just want to say about shipping, I order very often from USA, if you use UPS or Fedex they might charge high fees for brokerage so be prepared for that for ex. UPS would charge between 65-100$+GST+QST(on the value) for the N900. With USPS you pay 5$ + the taxes but that's it.

Do you think company try to fill their order not by priority but by price they sold so they filled their higher prices before and then their lower prices. If you look at amazon they where selling tons and tons of pre order at low prices and they are still not avalaible and now they have in stock at 800$ while people who pre order at lower price don't get their order filled. Maybe Mobile play a bit the same game?

Well I don't know but they have a very strange sorting algorithm...!

As of this morning, after all my email and calls they asked me to fax a CC confirmation with a copy of the card and my permit.

My current status is ready to ship!

My friend got it today with the express shipping from yesterday so maybe tomorrow if everything goes to plan now... He didn't get any charges but maybe by mail later on, that already happened to me a few years back.

You know what's weird?
I distinctly remember seeing a post by EIPI that showed the Wind 3G network displaying on his N900, when he went to Settings->Phone->Network Selection->Manual

But now I can't find that post! Strange.

Anyway, my N900 finds no Wind network here in Vancouver. So that suggests Toronto only? Any other Canadian N900 owners able to see any networks other than Rogers/Fido?

How goes your N900 thus far? I'm tempted to get mine from SN Traders as well and am wondering how the unit you got is doing.

I'm thinking about getting it from SN Traders too, but in my opinion, they import it from USA, from a place like best buy or mobilecityonline, and resell it after paying all the shipping fees, duties, taxes, etc...
Maybe it can be cheaper if we order from mobilecityonline? Or expansys?
