According to Nokia, you'll be left with a phone with no cellular capability.

The early testers of 51-1 were told not to flash back to previous firmware for this reason.

ah, thanks for that. if the reflash totally borks cellular capability i'll just reflash with the current 2.2009.51-1 bin.

EDIT: yup you were right. it didn't see my sim, i ended up reflashing to 51 again

Read my post.

Hulu.com would play shows *before* the update. Now they no longer play.

It could be that hulu.com added some ridiculous version checking just recently, but I do not know.

So the problem seems to be with the powermanagement.
I would like to note that before todays update the wifi was working flawlessly. (I don't know if the update turned on the powermanagement of the wifi automatically. I have a feeling i had it on before too.)

My WLAN router is Buffalo nfiniti WHR-G300N
Ver.1.60 (R1.49/B1.09)

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Ok, so I guess it's time to reopen Bug #7277, then.

timperi, when you have those issues (or rather force them by turning powermanagement back on), could you have a look at the output of the dmesg command and compare it to the one provided in the Bugzilla entry?

Mine at work is quite similar, which does add evidence it's the same bug. Incidentally, while I have to check the exact make and model of the access point at the office, I can say for a fact that it is neither a Buffalo nor the ASUS referenced in Tomasz' bug report. Possible OEM similarities notwithstanding, that would make it three N900s with three APs/Routers from different manufacturers. So I suspect there is a real issue here.

Regards,

Chris.

Nokia has warned, huh?

Well, they didn't warn me.

And personally, even after taking a few very deep breaths upon reading your post, I am very p.o.'d.

Once again this proves that Nokia still has very much to learn about professional software development. Information like this belongs into real release notes that are provided before an update is installed, so that the customer can make an informed decision on whether or not to go for an update, since essentially there is no chance to back out again.

Not providing this kind of information up front can only be considered major disrespect for the customer.

So, anybody know who to complain to and willing to tell me?

Regards,

Chris.

Frank

hey can you try rebooting and (without ever opening the media player directly) trying to play the file through the file manager again? i'm pretty sure if the get-video-thumb process runs it borks something that renders all videos (inc one's taken by the camera) unplayable

I like that you can now browse in portrait mode... But the fact I can't bring up an onscreen keyboard in portrait is a little bit disconcerting. It's obviously faster to just type it on the qwerty (reason I like the n900 over some of the other touch phones) but for something really quick it'd be nice to double tap and get an onscreen keyboard in portrait mode. Other than that I'm having no issues (so far) with the update.

Sluggish and unresponsive sometimes. You have to click a few times to get thing to work.

I'll keep documenting this here, just in case someone runs into the same issues. I have tracked this down to the point that udhcpc creates a resolv.conf in /tmp/resolv.conf.wlan0 whereas dnsmasq expects this file to be in /var/run. Copying the file manually fixes the problem.

Does anyone here know how the file is to be put into /var/run ? The first few lines of the file responsible for this look like this in my machine:

Code:

Nokia-N900-42-11:/etc/udhcpc# more /etc/udhcpc/libicd_network_ipv4.script
#!/bin/sh
# udhcpc script to use with OSSO ICd

RESOLV_CONF="/tmp/resolv.conf.$interface"
...

Is this file broken on my machine? Should this really read /tmp in that RESOLV_CONF line? Can someone confirm this?

This thread might help you.

Since upgrading to this release the phone has now locked up several times. It never did this prior to this upgrade. Pressing the top button to bring up the "end current task" menu does nothing during the lockup, but I can at least ssh in to reboot (that's assuming, of course that I'm in front of my laptop). Something's not right.
Other than that I still have the at least one of the same issues as before (I wasn't expecting it go away yet, mind you): all three of my BT headsets randomly disconnect (two different plantronics models, and a jawbone). I'll report back any other issues I experience in time..

Grrr...

Wifi: gone. The connection never seems to be resolved. The icon just blinks.

Why would I want to use the browser in portrait mode? The only thing portrait mode would be useful for is messaging and navigating through the OS.
