Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories

Google have become very unforgiving about use of their satellite tiles. If you download a few tiles from Maemo Mapper, it will suddenly stop working, and not just in Maemo Mapper, but everywhere from any computer on your home network (sharing the same Internet IP address). So it will seem broken even on Google maps (you'll get the "we're sorry, we have no imagery for this zoom" or whatever the message is). Thankfully, the ban is only temporary, but they'll gladly slap you down again if you try again. |
Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
This sucks. "208 maps failed to download" What's going on? I can get traffic fine.

Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
Would adding a small and/or random delay between tile downloads mimic the manual interaction of working in a browser? If I get time I might try simulating this.

Or try to go PC to googlemap for a couple of time, see whether that will unlock you from the block list!? bun |
Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
thanks dude. I've already switched to openstreet and thankfully they have traffic too, but I don't like all the color on the maps, particularly the different colors for different highways. It's hard to follow the route when the backgrounds keep changing.
So long as one of them works I'm good. Maybe it's good that I have get away from Google. Thing is though, I don't know how I got on the "leech list" since I've not downloaded many maps from them and certainly. My googlemap db was only 135MB. |
Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
How you get the display like the default image on the maemo mapper download page? I just have the plain map.

From the maemo-mapper menu select Maps->Manage Repositories.... On the top drop-down box select one of the one of the satellite options i.e Google satellite or VE Satellite or Yahoo satellite. Click OK. |
Re: Maemo Mapper Repositories
I have been looking at the page info for google maps using firefox and it looks like there is an extra s= field in the url that has the word Galileo appended one letter at a time for each tile. Perhaps it is this that is being used to prevent leeching.
Code:
