nokia has decided not to have an update for the phone as they are happy with the stability that it provides in the markets they have launched this phone in.

i know as stated above and the fix is the reason why need pr 1.2 asap. small issue for some(nokia included) but high prio for me.

there is no app that pause the track when pressing the screen that I have missed?

There is one thing that bothers me about this.
There are tons of bugfixes already, which are completed a month or so ago, but aren't released, because they're part of this big PR 1.2.

Windows gets a handful of updates every week. So why can't the bugfixes be released for the N900 every week?
It should be even easier, since most of the software in question is open source...

Dont worry, you will know when 1.2 is out because there will be 300 new threads about it, followed very quickly by 300 threads of when is 1.3 out :D

It's not firmware yet, it's iffyware. Which means if they gave it to you they'd just have to take it back the next day. But if you wanted to keep it you'd have to take your N900 offline and go find a deadzone somewhere and reassuringly pet it.

If you do a full backup before updating with maemo flasher, and a restore afterwards, it restores all your personal info and redownloads/installs all your apps. Even paid ones.
I did it and my paid for Documents to Go worked fine afterwards.
It just takes a lot of time (I had like 176 apps to be installed one by one.

Almost precisely twenty posts since my last update. I can confirm with certainty that there is no PR1.2 update at this time. Will keep you posted.

Its such a shame I cannot add tags to this thread (or to any thread for that matter) - I SO wanted to join the funny tag party :)

Now come to think of it, I wish I had created an April fools thread, with the title: "Now that PR 1.2 is out, what next?" - yea, it'd have probably been yet another FUD, but at least a funny one which is far better than those obvious "PR 1.2 is out!!!11!oneone1!" threads :)

The claims he makes about Nokia's roadmap are silly. Except the part about loyal Nokia customers.

April 4:th was a sunday. April 3:rd was a saturday. April 2:nd was long friday, some sort of holiday. Even april 1:st, which was some easter-related thursday was likely atleast holiday-ish. And today, monday the 5:th is still another easter-related holiday, so as the update didn't come in late march with plenty of workdays following, wich I assume (perhaps wrongly?) nokia would want, there really wasn't a good time to release for the past more than a week...

Tomorrow, tuesday the 6:th, however, might be a good day to release the update.

And, unrelatedly, 2010 will be the year of the linux desktop.

Perhaps the Nokia "users" who have been testing PR1.2 for onlygodknowshowlong said "uh, you might want to skip to PR1.3 to appease the masses".

Wasn't the PR1.2 build tagged quite a while ago? perhaps usable navigation is ready, but we won't see it for several more months due to nokia package updates only rolling out in major releases?
