Your device already has the latest SUPPORTED software NO update is needed.

My N900 has the leaked FW flashed to it.

Thanks Bill, that is interesting to know, I would suggest that one way to read that would be that there are no newer supported firmware versions for your phone on NSU, and that it does not by itself imply that the version you are currently running is supported.

It is good to see that the NSU can read the firmware version with your firmware and doesn't throw an error.

It states the current FW as 10.2010.12-9

Thats the FW its saying is SUPPORTED now i think thats kinda ironic coming from official NOKIA software dont you?.

it says the same thing for my pr 1.1. So what's your point?

The NSU tells you when there is an official update out. There isn't any out so why should it say otherwise.

Where you expecting it to say, "Look here, mother****er. Your **** is the new **** so **** off"?

Yep. I am.

The great thing about this phone is that it hides how complicated it really is.

Don't worry, there will be an update.

The only thing complicated about the N900 is the person using it.
Dont hold your breath for the update is all i can think of saying right now.

How come there is noone from Hk on this thread? Surely there must be one person?

It's mentioned earlier in the thread that there could be problems for those in HK who may need to reflash there phones, if that is the case then could someone from HK not "have a problem" with there phone and ask nokia what to do?

Seriously this whole Pr1.2 thingy is turning into a bad episode of LOST! for every answer there's like a million and one knew questions! hehe

That said, I know of people who accidentally ran their phones through the washing machine and later got them to work. In cases like that prompt action with a warm hair dryer can do wonders. The longer it sits with any moisture, the less likely it will work properly again.

From my own (non-engineer) experience, the most important factor when dropping electronic devices in water is speedy removal of current (remove the battery ASAP!). Then let the thing dry well (and I mean well, since little drops in confined spaces tend to stay wet a long time). Finally, reassemble, turn on, and prey.

I dropped my n900 while talking a bath like the second day I got it (it dove right to the bottom...). Luckily, no harm was done.

Good luck.

I'm glad it's not even close as this leaked fw is much better than PR1.1.1 and if even this is still very premature, I can only expect the official PR1.2 to be even better. can I ask, do you know if it'll be released this month at least?

btw. you are up early. I'm in Sydney. =P

Re: [Leaked PR1.2 RC] Info and Discussion thread

I flashed the leaked PR1.2 because I thought it was valid Nokia-release. Topic named as "PR1.2 IS RELEASED!!" lead me to some blog from where I downloaded the firmware. First I checked tablets-dev from Nokia and thought that it's just not there yet.

Anyways. Seems like PR1.2 has made the battery last much better than earlier version. I charged my phone full almost 48 hours ago. It now shows that I still got ~3/4 of battery remaining. I've been using my phone relatively much. Normally it would had shut down already.

Rootfs has 97.3M available versus before flashing I had ~20M. Almost all same applications installed.

So far, I've had only one problem. Earlier today I received a call which I couldn't end. I just wasn't able to bring front the Phone-application.

Looking pretty promising.

Your recollection of that thread differs greatly from mine. Mind you, I am getting on a bit.

I again have a grave suspicion about thumbnailerd and renderer. It consumes whole memory and it takes 10-20secs to swap out it before you are able to answer.

This happened long before, on PR1.0

Good news that it will not repeat after thumbnailerd processes all media files. But you may need reboot after that.

btw, this leaked fw has much faster volume changing. Holding down or up flies across the volume bar. It's much better imo.

Hey!!! you can get it to work with either of these tricks:

1.

- put atleast a litre of rice in a container be it tupperware box or something else like a bowl and put your n900 in the bowl. make it dive :D

- wait for 3days

- now it should work

2.

- Get the n900 disassembly manual PDF,using google

- get a torx #6 screw driver

- disassemble the phone.

- when you take the screws off you might break some of them since they are ment to be used only once but some of them will take the heat alright.

- put the parts in the oven and set the heat to really low so that it gets to about 70 celsius.

- keep the parts in the owen for atleast an hour.

- assemble and everything should work

+ you can wash most of the parts using tap water or distilled water(if thats the english word for purified water) if the thing got "shitty and or pissy"

GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: [Leaked PR1.2 RC] Info and Discussion thread

I've found the update to be really good, haven't noticed many bugs. The email widget doesn't seem to be working, and when in desktop edit mode there is a settings button on the widget that does nothing for me. Anyone one else had these kind on problems?

I'm going to test it with a few different email accounts...

Apart form that no other bugs, browser fonts are much better, browsing is generally much quicker and I no longer seem to have any problems with my IM accounts, before it would never seem to log in to some of them properly, but they all seem to be working well and log on times seem to be faster..

Cant see any option for skype video calls but then none of my contacts are online so maybe it just doesnt show up till then

I don't use that anymore but I do have Symfonie installed and the equalizer built-in doesn't use any less cpu it seems.

The Flash Player was updated to 9.0.260.0 from 9.0.246.0

Re: [Leaked PR1.2 RC] Info and Discussion thread

I didn't notice any flash performance increase. So nothing special in that front for this leaked fw.

One more thing. When changing themes, it does a proper desktop restart and everything applies correctly the first time around. So you now don't need to reboot to get the theme to display properly. This was really annoying and I'm glad it was fixed.

Updates take time. You want a [B
tested[/B] update, correct?

Nokia have now good testers; "couple" of guys in HK and nerds which have installed this leaked PR1.2.

As speculation.. is this just coincidence PR1.2 has leaked? What would be better way to make final test before releasing update.. So, all you who had installed leaked PR1.2, you are now working on Nokia FOR FREE :D

Nokia themselves seem to now be a complete farce and of course they released the so called "leaked" PR1.2 in a way that did just what your sayng, got free testers but maybe in case you dont realise their must be some 50,000 plus "testers" who have now installed this so called "leaked" firmware ha.
