Personally, I think you should do something modern and cool and allow people to pay what a) they can afford, and b)what they think Instinctiv is worth, and in their native currency. (Or at least allow a choice of a number currencies)
The developers of World of Goo did that and I applaud that kind of thinking. I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Ovi Store - Instinctiv

Hello,
I installed Instinctiv when I read that it can identify songs, and this is the function I care more. Could it be possible to enhance its music database so that it can be on par with Shazam? At present, it has a lower success rate, at least in my hands.
Also, is it possible to autoconnect to the internet to send the song recording? I happen to hear a music I like from my car radio when driving, and opening Instinctiv from the desktop and pressing the Identify button is straightforward, but providing to start an internet connection before is too complicated (and risky). Alternatively, the app could store one or more music recordings until there is a connection available, and send them to be identified in a batch mode.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Ovi Store - Instinctiv

Hey this is such a lovely App!

Kudos to the devs! I mean its nice to see an app that ACTUALLY doesn't look ugly! Its really nicely made and it shows alot of effort has been put into this! So well done!

2 little adjustments i reckon would be pretty cool and would officially make me replace the current Music player with this!

1) Make scrolling a little quicker with a higher refresh rate, maybe consult the scrolling algorithm used in Mediabox? The scrolling on there is IMMENSE!

2) This is petty i know, but maybe add a fullscreen option button, like in Pidgin IM. You could also add a Task manager and quit button within the App, like TweeGo or most Offscr games! I just think the top bar ruins the gorgeous interface :/ And its only really used to switch apps and close the thing!

But other than that, this app...well...**KICKS *****

Keep up the good work!

Re: Ovi Store - Instinctiv

Had this issue too, but after a couple of tracker hard resets it went on and worked. Not sure it was related to instinctiv, I did nothing more than a database reset.

BUT I want an automatic update through the app manager! Or have you forgotten the app manager exists? What kind of product this is if I can get automatic updates? Just saying...

Re: Ovi Store - Instinctiv

The reason there are no updates via app manager is because the .deb files posted here are mostly for us to beta test.

The official 1.0 version will be released through the OVI store. Being in beta we've come to rely heavily on you guys to help us find those areas that need to be sanded down before calling it a 1.0. Our deadline has been set for Dec 13. ~ PB

Correct. It's going to be a beefy update though, complete with a companion windows app.

Thanks for the link. I've lost track of proceedings here, lots of other stuff been taking up my time.

So, do we just install this over the top of the older version, or won't it work that way?

Yep, just download that latest deb and run it. No need to do anything else.

Ok, thanks for clearing things up. Now it makes sense and I'm looking forward. I wish Nokia also had good PR just like you guys. Nokia is plain deaf compared to you guys when it comes to feedback and interaction with customers.

Yep, sorted it thanks.

I forgot that I had the .deb installer plugin for the file manager installed.
Just a case of tapping the .deb file in Documents and away it went.

I kinda like the rotation feature, but I guess it could get to be a bit of a bug, therefore may I suggest to the developers maybe a feature to switch it off and on in the menu?

Oh please! Seconded.
IMHO, Linux needs a decent player desperately, well for gnome anyway.
Surely there is a big enough audience of ubuntu users who would appreciate a decent player/organiser to make it worthwhile.

That's awesome news Peter!
**EDIT** Although I just read a few pages back where you had already mentioned this. My apologies

Yes, buggy as all get out in the GDE. Apparently it works okay in K, but I don't use that environment.

Personally, I really like Rhythmbox. Simple and bloat-free.

Sorry, this design won't come out until after the Dec 13 release but this is what we're moving towards and even the Dec 13 version will have some of the plumbing needed to support this new UI.

Re: Ovi Store - Instinctiv

@peter: instinctiv is an awesome app with great potential. Thanks to the instinctiv Devs for such a great player!

I do not know whether you care about feedback or not, but there are still a few important features I am currently missing, such as:
  • Last.fm scrobbling
  • Support for (dynamic) playlists
  • Support for rating songs (1 to 5 stars)

I haven't tried the latest versions of Instinctiv - if some of these features have already been implemented, please let me know. For now I am using a different player, because Last.fm scrobbling and dynamic playlists are crucial features to me.
