The password you've set during the installation was for the openssh. Remember that, coz you'll need it if you want to connect to your device with ssh.

The password for the editor is 12345 and you can change it from inside the app.

Read the wiki pages for more info.

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

Hi,

When i send a command to my phone, it replies 9 times.
3 times it says: -unlock- phone was already unlocked
3 times it says: command (<command name>) accepted
3 times the command reply -GPS - <gps info>

Is this normal behaviour, are my settings wrong (default)?

Same here, just installed it for the first time and I always get 3 identical SMS.

Love the app!

Re-install the smscon editor application and it should be fixed.

Seems like you have deleted some files.

Disable the devel and install the stable version..

The devel has the future version and correctly doesn't allow you to install it since not all of its components have been uploaded yet.
The changes to be introduced are not backwards compatible.

Screenshots in the Editor's wiki have been updated with those from the future release (hopefully it will be soon).

You can check out for the differences.

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

UPDATE

Release of 0.8.1 of SMSCON is out to the autobuilder (Extras-Devel). Finally, I know it has been taken too long, sorry for that...

Update warning: new options not fully tested enough...

This will be the last release for now, maybe there will be a quick bug release in the future if necessary. I don't have enough spare time anymore due to other commitments, projects, work etc. etc. I hope you will understand.

New features/bugfixes/changes:

0.8.1
  • NEW/CHANGE: expanded user setting MESSAGESEND ('sms', 'email', 'both' & 'none'); removed DISABLESMS user setting. This is superseded by MESSAGESEND user setting! SIM card change SMS always will be send regardless of MESSAGESEND setting.
  • NEW: added smscon command (RESTART); user can restart smscon_daemon by SMS command.
  • NEW: added smscon command (COM_ALARM); phone will play user configurable sound file (only WAV format, must be named alarm.wav in /opt/smscon directory) when SMS command is received.
  • NEW: added remote activation of smscon_daemon; content of file CHECKHOST (hostname+filename) on own server will be checked every CHECKTIME minutes. If other then 0 it will execute the corresponding command. (see wiki!)
  • NEW: smscon_daemon sends SMS/email message if smscon_daemon crashes (in case of).
  • CHANGE: changed user setting ENABLERESEND ('yes', 'no'). Resending of messages will again be experimental feature!!!
  • CHANGE: removed MAXRESEND user setting (didn't work properly).
  • CHANGE: some log text changed/added.
  • CHANGE: removed updatechecker during installation of smscon (failed to work previously).
  • CHANGE: some changes in GPS message sending code.
  • CHANGE: AUTODEVICELOCK message is only send if COMMANDREPLY is enabled.
  • FIX: shutdown & reboot routine (EnablePoweroff & EnableReboot) give internal error.
  • FIX: small bug in SMSsend().
  • FIX: bug in GPSINTERVAL handeling; GPSINTERVAL was always set at 60 sec. regardless of user setting.

Please also (re)read the SMSCON wiki!

Since last update, smscon gui editor asks me for the password. I put it, it confirms that is ok, and nothing happens.

SMSCON-GUI doesn't work since last update.

Setup: Latest CSSU, Kernel-Power v47 (not OC'd). Smartreflex activated.

Did you update both?

if you run it from the xterm what's the error?

Please do the following or wait for an update.
Code:

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

IMPORTANT

For all people who have 0.7-2 installed, when installing 0.8.1 do a:
Code:

smscon -force init
in X-terminal after install. This will setup a new standard config file with the new options. Edit these options to your needs...

digitalvoid 2011-06-13 17:16

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

UPDATE

Release 0.8.1-3 is on it's way:
  • FIX: bug in the ENABLECHECKHOST option. It would execute the wrong command. See WIKI/Usage for changed details.
  • CHANGE: smscon_config file will be re-initialized automatically due to changes/new options not available in release 0.7-2.

Saturn 2011-06-13 17:25

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

Release of the SMSCON Editor in devel (version 0.8.8)

Changes:
* Correction of error with RESENDTIME creation.
* Replaced "-init" command with "-force init".
* Added check in postinstal script for the config version.

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

@digitalvoid & Saturn: Many thanks for this kind of application.
Unfortunately, i have two issues:

1. Minor one: If I "Execute Script" i get two short messages that the
user script was executed. This bug was also mentioned earlier in
this thread.

2. I want corresponding GSM cellid informations via SMS, so I
tried the below using smssend via cli from the repos:

Code:

#!/bin/sh
# smscon script (v0.8.1)
# (edit below)

# get cellid codes via dbus command
# MCC:        Mobile Country Code;        MNC:        Mobile Network Code;
# LAC:        Local Area Code;        CELLID:        Cellid;
EXPRESSION=`dbus-send --system --print-reply=literal --type=method_call --dest=com.nokia.phone.net /com/nokia/phone/net Phone.Net.get_registration_status`
MCC=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 10 -d " "`
MNC=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 8 -d " "`
LAC=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 4 -d " "`
CELLID=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 6 -d " "`
smssend -n +49xxxxxxxxxx -m "Cellid Info: MCC=$MCC; MNC=$MNC; LAC=$LAC; CELLID=$CELLID"

Running this from the cli works perfect, running it from the
test tab within the smscon gui doesnt. Is such a gsm command
for sending SMS etc blocked when I run the script within smscon?

Request: A command like COM_CELLID would be great. We
could use it with snuggle as a frontend.

Strange, I've put your code in the script and had to give it executable rights and it has worked fine.
Code:

sudo gainroot
chmod 755 /opt/smscon/smscon_script

It has given me a bunch of errors about the dbus call made by smssend (since the code has been executed as root), but it worked.

Would propose to run the Editor from terminal and see if there are any errors.

I will send at some point to digitalvoid some code to add the cellid info command, but I fear that the number of commands has grown to a unmanageable size. Let's see what he thinks when the time comes.

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

Here is also some improvement to the code of BluesLee if someone wants to use it.

* Requirement is to have the "smssend" package installed (you can find it in extras).
* Will send an SMS with the cell info the phone is connected to the number you have defined in the SMSCON configuration.

Code:

#!/bin/sh
# smscon script (v0.8.1)
# (edit below)

if dpkg -l | grep smssend 1>/dev/null;
then
  ##Read SENDERNUMBER from config file
  SENDERNUMBER=`awk -F' ' '$1 == "SENDERNUMBER" { print $3;exit}' /opt/smscon/smscon_config|cut -d"'" -f2`

  ##Send SMS if smssend package is installed
  # get cellid codes via dbus command
  # MCC:        Mobile Country Code;        MNC:        Mobile Network Code;
  # LAC:        Local Area Code;        CELLID:        Cellid;
  EXPRESSION=`dbus-send --system --print-reply=literal --type=method_call --dest=com.nokia.phone.net /com/nokia/phone/net Phone.Net.get_registration_status`
  MCC=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 10 -d " "`
  MNC=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 8 -d " "`
  LAC=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 4 -d " "`
  CELLID=`echo $EXPRESSION | cut -f 6 -d " "`
  #echo $MCC $MNC $LAC $CELLID
  smssend -n $SENDERNUMBER -m "Cellid Info: MCC=$MCC; MNC=$MNC; LAC=$LAC; CELLID=$CELLID"
fi

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

@Saturn: Honestly, the cellid informations are the most important
from my point of view in case the device gets stolen etc. We
cannot assume to get a GPS fix or that the device is connected to
the internet in general but we can rely on GSM, this is for sure, and
cellid informations are better than nothing.

The default configuration for smscon_script should be
that it is executable but that is not the issue here. As I assumed
there are interferences between smscon and smssend:

Quote:

$ /opt/smscon-editor/smscon-editor

smscon_daemon stopped.
smscon.log deleted.
smscon_daemon started.

This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

Can you use leafpad?

If yes, then add in the script the folders you want to delete and when you get an sms with the new sim card then send the command you've set to execute the script.

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

Hello, will one of you fine gentlemen help me out with the following, i'm new to this app.
In smscon editor;
- mobile number of contact, is the the mobile number cell that you want the messages to be sent to?
- On first command, what is the first command?
- In the commands tab, can i activate these commands via sms and email? what format should each command take?
- does the email with frontcam picture work?
- what exactly does the script do?

Thanks in advance

Re: [Announce] SMScon (control your device with SMS)

never mind guys i found every thing in the wiki, i was looking in the smsconeditor wiki before. A suggestion though, from what i understand sending an sms with key word Location will tell the phone to send its location, but any that knows about smscon and how it works can use that against me. How about this, instead of just key word Location, i use Location:password. that way the commands are customized to the user and not generalized as on an operating system where anyone that knows them can use the system
