That's the issue I tried to explain in my earlier post. I had it. It's fixed in PR1.1.

I have downloaded all of the US maps but have no voice in Drive. And everytime I click to down a voice it says "cant connect to the network, try again". I can I get voice navigation?

Another problem I am having is with my gmail account... It won't sync the mail... I only see one e-mail which is from gmail. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?

Ahh, so that's what it is. Since I do not want to root my Android Tablet (yet) and there is no setting to put the n9 in infrastructure mode I'd like to know if anyone is working on this?

I've also tried BT DUN, but that did not work either.

Another problem I am experiencing now is that I have downloaded all the maps for US but they seem to keep "installing" and it says paused on top. I can't delete them or do add new maps...

Also I am trying to connect to my University WIFI which is enterprise WPA and I have no idea at all how to connect. I know I need to use a thawte server certificate but I how do I download them onto the phone?

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Slight problem here guys,

I set up my Cyan N9 on tuesday and have been using it since.

I took it out of my pocket today to see that the phone was off. Tried to turn it on by holding the power button down as usual. Did not turn on.

I've been trying to turn it on by randomly trying combinations of the volume rocker and the power button but still not turning on.

I tried holding down the power button for 8 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds etc - still not turning on.

Everything was working fine as of last night and today except for when I took it out of my pocket.

I got home and plugged the charger in to the laptop, the notification light comes on for one second and then goes away. Trying to start the phone with the phone plugged into the laptop doesn't work either.

Any solutions?

But has anyone had issues downloading the navigation voices for the drive app? Last night I noticed I didn't have any voices installed, so I went ahead and installed the male US voice. Seems to work all fine and dandy, but then I didn't really like the sound of the male US voice, so I went to download new... but I keep on getting a:

"Sorry, the list of new navigation voices can't be reached. Please try again later."

I've had this all day yesterday and today. Am I not allowed to download more than one voice? And if so how do I uninstall the previous one?

Any luck downloading a voice? I can't seem to download any voices at all...

Chiron: I was able to download a female voice in the Maps app. However, I do not think that the Drive app has voice support enabled. Can anyone confirm?

I use the drive app with voice guidance almost on a daily basis, haven't had a single glitch with it yet. Much better than what I anticipated.

For those people having issues with downloading voices, there is a bug, but what i found to works is this: close out your drive application, shut off any internet connections active, make sure the one you are going to use is switched to use when needed.

Launch drive and go to the voices menu. you should now be able to see the list of voices and download. This has worked for me everytime i have gotten the list error.

I have downloaded and used female and male voices just fine.

Note: I am in the US also.

yup, this is what i told chiron to try as I found that method working for me as well. seems to be the only way to download additional voices (here in the US that is).

Whenever I take photos with my n9 holding it vertically instead of landscape, the photos can't be rotated on pc. I mean i can rotate them when i'm watching them, but it doesn't save them after rotating, the error message says "Windows photo viewer can't save the changes to this picture because there's a problem with the picture's file properties" anyone have any solution? (appart from rotating it on the phone, because then the photo is kept rotated in the gallery)

More hit than miss. If you have specific questions, I'll gladly answer any/all of them.

If it's around Exchange, we're running Exchange 2007 SP3 and so far, no probs in receiving and synchronization; it's just "slow" sometimes - but that keeps the managers that schedule surprise meetings on their toes and they have to tell me way in advance if I'm included now as opposed to it not coming up.

In fact, the N9 sync's up faster than iCal/Mail.app on my OS X Lion machine. But that's not an incredible feat. So let's see...

It comes with a silicone case, it fits nicely and actually goes around each of the buttons and covers the SIM card area. Trust me, sounds minor but it's actually pretty damn neat because those are the only places that bother me.

As far as the rest, it's a phone. I've had good success with battery life, zero success with Nokia Drive, a ton of success with Map though - the complaints about it taking like 15-20 seconds to start do not affect me, it's as quick as Google Maps on my last Android phone and as fast as Bing Maps on my WP7 device.

The vkb, people are loving it here. I'm not exactly a fan. It's multi-touch (yay) but otherwise I think WP7 has a better vkb - I can press and hold on punctuation and get them all. On Android I got used to SwiftKey - which predicted my next word damn near flawlessly. But... it's usable by even a ham fisted guy like myself.

I haven't dropped it, but it's been in a pocket full of keys no scratches. I don't have any discoloration on the screen, it's seriously one of the better screens I've had. Browser is actually not bad at all! It renders Adobe.com horribly dude... I mean, like total messed up, at least for me.

Am I missing apps? Yep. Google Analytics requires Flash or an app - neither. I'm building an app that pulls in that data as we speak actually. Google Voice - I use that for free txt messages. Not on the N9. Youtube is in mobile mode, can't say that I like it... needs to be skinned and the new Youtube look makes it look real, real cheap. But that's on Google.

No MSN, no AIM, but I've been moving everybody over to GTalk/Skype... so that's fine so far. It's integrated nicely.

But if you have questions dude, ask them.

Count me with the fans, it's awesome. And you can customize it to your liking, see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=79492 and mesinput.com. As for the long-press for all punctuation, I think I saw one on MesInput that had it on space.

No, it is not.

ssh client is in the same repository, but if your N9 reboots after installing terminal package, then there is probably more wrong with your installation. I would wait for official N9 flasher before doing more damage to the system.

Till now I had no unexplained behaviour on my N9 and I hope it stays so. There are some irritating bugs, but these wait patiently for PR1.1

The latest version does allow you to copy links and add it to the cute tube playlist. It must be open though. So like if you get a youtube link from a message or on the web and you hit copy on it it will be automatically added to the playlist. its a cool feature, but nothing totally automated yet where it opens on clicked links.

Don't know if you've tried this already, but I managed to load on a cert by first dumping it over usb onto the home directory.

Then using settings>security>certificates>add new cert it picked it up and was able to decrypt it via password.

After that I was able to set it for wifi, but the problem was that it wouldn't pick up when I went to add a new network connection. Granted, that cert was some 8000 years old and I ended up not needing it but maybe you'll have better luck.

My uni also has certs for wifi, but they are mainly for whatever windows phones that use them; I'm thinking the issue for me was likely disabling background connections and/or not forcing it to use my username.

On a side note: this thread is bloody massive and annoying to search.

Thanks for this, definately worth the download. One gripe with it though, if you choose the setting that the videos still play when in the task switcher view, they always revert to portrait, even if you choose only landscape mode from the application settings. I don't know if it's a "feature" of the task switcher, or just an overlook by the author.

Otherwise it's a great start and hopefully the author (or someone else) expands on this. Really nice. Konttori said in his blog that it would take like 200 lines of code in QML to make a better video player than the stock one, well can't say how many lines of code this is, but it's already better than the stock one, and it's quite cool how it retains the overall feel of the original player, just a bunch of added useful features and settings.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

If anyone would like to provide feedback regarding my applications, please use the links in my signature. :)

P.S It seems that the task switcher forces applications into portrait mode. At least, I haven't found a way to override it.

I would like to enable YouTube video links to be launched in cuteTube, but I'm not sure if it's possible. You can change/add mime-type associations, but I'm not sure if it's possible to use a regex (i.e. check if the url is a YouTube video link). It's something I will at least look into. :) The clipboard feature was something I provided in lieu of that, with the advantage that it allows to you to copy several videos at a time.
