What you could do, however, is take a picture of 50 different combinations and do a stop-motion-esque slideshow of them, Stones Throw style!

I'd rather have Dirk spending time on getting TOHKBD2 to my front porch (i.e. finish it) then him wasting time taking photos of colored backs ;)

Oh man, I don't envy you, vacation's over hard work ahead, if you need extra helping hand in your bedroom/kitchen manufacturing line shout (only menial tasks like inserting part A into part B, never been to holland and weed is great for menial tasks or so I've 'heard')

Sativas, not indica. The latter might make you forget about what you're supposed to be doing :D

sorry, lets not derail this any further, but offer still stands (hell, if this will result in my tohkbd getting here quicker can probably jump in for a week)

edit: assembler's too hard, assemblers' line sounds about right

Do you think you might have the time to post new videos of the TOHKBD on your channel to showcase the latest changes?

First of many updates:

New Base casing and PCB
https://dl.dropbox.com/s/tgixhsr63ta...2012.16.30.jpg
good: PCB fits like a glove in casing and casing fits like a glove to phone
bad: i2c contact pads are completely in the wrong place. minor mistake.

New Bottom casing and new PCB
https://dl.dropbox.com/s/w6ahgbwxkdb...2012.19.45.jpg
Good: fits like a glove. the casing sort of goes around the pcb now to hold it in place (see next pic), that was a good decision cause loosing the screws on top looks good and will make construction a lot easier and faster.
Bad: no bad discovered yet.

Overhang of casing over PCB marked red, dotted green line is PCB under casing

Contact spring alignment is perfect

Bottom with keypad mockup in black, no screws

Is it conclusively decided then, we don't get a thinner bottom piece, magnets will remain covered?

I can only echo the comments of others on how awesome this project is, and would like to thank everyone involved for making this possible (even all those who have donated/funded the TOHKBD). Count me in as a future buyer :)

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, sorry if it has. With the current design of the keyboard attaching with magnets to TOH making the KB completely removable, could your TOH accommodate a dedicated game controller attachment as well?

I know that the KB is the priority at the moment and the KB will offer more scope for mapping buttons, some folk (like me) prefer controller interfaces and I guess many more would prefer the option to hot swap between the two.

Sorry if that sounded like an unwarranted request, just I wanted to share an idea based from your awesome work Dirk :)

Small update: coloured contact pads!

Instead of having a black casing with white contact pads, they will be in some colours. I will match them as good as possible per casing.

yellow not shown, but will also be there

OK, no worries. BTW, are you still planning to proceed with Shapeways 3D printing instead of injection molding?

Aonsaithya has made this awesome tool for colour selection! THANKS!

http://aonsaithya.kapsi.fi/url/jolla/tohkbd/

Some colours are a bit more 'electric' than real life, check TOHOLED or SolarTOH to see how they turn out in the end.

My favorites:
Black + Black + Brushed Steel
or
Black + Black + Carbon Fiber

Love them!

Oh man this is cool. Hmm... TOH seems to have less colour options than the keyboard part, is this intentional?

Awesome tool! Thank you Aonsaithya! But yellow missing (from base part), I'm hoping it gets added there along with the other missing colours. :)

Well this is embarrassing; my busy mind misinterpreted this! Now that I think, TOH doesn't look like that & isn't that narrow... :D

TOH and keyboard have the same available colours now.
