UK people: Argos have the sim-free X in black on offer at £229 (there maybe an additional small saving through quidco/topcashback).

Two hints excerpted from last meeting log

1) Jolla version
Quote:

08:37:54 <remote_> mm... news on cbeta progress?
08:38:51 <kayuz6> and the cbeta is doing the test with 2.1.2 or 2.1.1 image on xperia x?
08:39:14 <Jaymzz_> remote_: It might see a slight delay as we might change some plans, but nothing is concrete so it is on-going as before.
08:39:15 <sledges> 2.1.2
08:39:27 <Jaymzz_> kayuz6: 2.1.2 is being tested by cbeta
08:39:36 <Jaymzz_> on Xperia
...and...

2) Xperia X camera
Quote:

08:51:59 <sledges> remote_: cbeta testers are loving xperia's camera ^-^
Anyone who knows 2.1.2 expected release date?

Christmas 2017?:D Slight delay is not of any value regarding the release date if you don't know the initial release plan.

Bought it for my girlfriend as her AquaFish was dying. She really likes it, seems like a great phone but only downside is that it runs android :(

The danger is that, slipping release dates, ppl will not be able to find Xperia X devices.

You are really optimistic. I would say: The danger is that, slipping release dates, ppl will not consider Sailfishos on an Xperia device.

I have Xperia X with Android 7.1.1. I am not at all familiar about Android firmwares. CDA of my F5121 is 1302-9422 Rev 4. In XperiFirm I cannot find that CDA (nor any related to Finland, if that matters). Can I use any of the listed firmwares to downgrade?
I also have F5122 with 1302-3039 Rev2. How about it ?

You don't know what people are willing to use if there are no real alternatives in their eyes, for instance a Sony tablet with Sailfishos without any sensors, bluetooth, gps, camera .. did i forgot something? :D

By the way, how do you know that its nor ready yet?

You can flash any version of CDA on your phone, my Xperia X is from USA and hasn't fingerprint enabled, so I flashed from my region Generic LAM, which have a different CDA and works as expected and with fingerprint enabled [emoji847]

gps works, but you forgot about video playback :D

But honestly, would you expect people to pay for something as broken as that sony tab image?

That doesn't matters, i flashed this CDA 1301-2283 Commercial and Journalist. Its Android 6.0

Afterwards you can extract TA-Partition (DRM-Keys) and upgrade to your CDA (Android 7.1.1) again.

The whole process of Downgrade, TA-Extraction and Bootloader Unlock is very well described here. But its unfortunately in German.

Because you can't back up your DRM or other Sony specific blobs under Nougat.

As far as I know only Sony phones needs to back up this DRM thing, otherwise you will lose certain function in camera (noise cancellation?) And screen colour enhancement.

Other manufacturers will just display you a warning screen (like Motorola) or lose warranty or can't do future OTA but won't have a functional loss as Sony.

Re: Sailfish OS (officially) on Sony Xperia devices

If you unlock bootloader without saving DRM-keys and TA, are they lost forever? (cannot get them back by flashing something, or by any means?) islosing DRM-keys and TA preventing me from installing Sailfish? (I understood features that require them aren't going to be ported by jolla anyway?) Or is backing them up only for if you want to return to Android stock ROM? Thanks.

If you unlock your bootloader you lost your DRM keys forever, the purpose of backup the DRM keys, is when you relock de bootloader and restore your DRM keys, you let your phone as it was never touched, after flashing stock rom

So, got my new XperiaX F5121 Graphite Black 1302-3093 Rev4 yesterday.
Well - it is very small in comparison of my Nexux 6. Maybe even too small... :p And a lot of bloat preinstalled...
Probably don't care of DRM keys.
Now waiting for Sailfish OS ;)
But also OmniROM is supporting XperiaX very well and there are recent improvements in the area of camera: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...nirom-t3603055

Strange. My F5122 with the same CDA (1302-3039), but revision 2 has "ZH,EN" languages specified on the box.
