Re: New members say hello !
don't mind pichlo...
see... you are like the young tiny excited newmo swimming about in the great big ocean of maemo for the 1st time... pichlo and I and some others here have been around so long... we are more akin to the crusty barnacle covered Hermit crabs that are the older grumpy ...(yet with a huge wealth of years and knowledge...) in compare to you ... He is right... and I would probably have said the same thing ... or more or less curt...or more or less funnier...or something... We are happy to help... just aim the queries at the related subforums ... and as has been mentioned.. look to see if there is already a thread concerning your general or specifically related problem....before posting a new thread... It saves a lot of duplication and dissemination ... and your problem may have an answer already in an existing thread.., We are... On the whole... happy to help.. Just ... Think of us as the maemo equivalent of .. grandpa's with the shotguns ... yelling .. "Hey you kids! Get off my lawn!..." :D |

(See? You were right! :D) |

New guy here!
Long-time Nokiafan, and have been trough some great devices over the years! The one that actually can't leave my mind is the Nokia N8/N9 era. Started of with the N95/N96, and after 5 pieces of the N95, i moved on to the glorius N8. When the N9 hit the shelfs in 2011, i did grab one for the fair amount of 5000 SEK (like 500 euro) After that it went on... Lumia 920, 1020, 1520, 930. As I said, the one leaving a footprint in my mind was the symbian-meego time. This site have helped me many times, with many problems, and now I felt like the time is here, to join the club! |
Re: New members say hello !
Noticed I haven't made my presence here known through official channel. So high to everyone! My name is Maemish and I'm quite newbie here. And with maemo. And know nothing about coding or compiling or such. A linux user and have tried all kinds or different distros on all kinds of different laptops, mainly older ones. Have inside my head some broken packages which can be seen as writing something on threads off the topic. Trying to stay tuned though to the right subject. I reeeeaally would like Nokia to find a right path again with devices and that led to purchase a N900 -and then some more of them. Have send tablet and phone plans to Nokia but they rejected them - and Nokia went down a couple of months later. So sad. Now trying with the new guys in charge. I haved already got some friends-ish from the members here and thank you for many good infos and conversations. This has been a great place to learn and communicate.

Definitely got some friends-ish here Maem-ish... :)
we'll keep you on the straight and narrow... And don't fret about nokia not paying any attention to your plans... I'm still waiting to hear back on my submitted blueprints to Tony Stark. Hear that?! I'm still sitting by the phone Tony, do I have to become an arch villain to get your attention? |
Re: New members say hello !
I just remembered I did not yet introduce myself yet in this wonderful thread. Here is my story:
I found out about the Neo900 in some discussion thread on heise.de, after joingin Neo900 IRC channel I discovered the wonderful world of the N900 and similiar phones. In the mean time I watched the Neo900 project quite closely and learned a lot from it. At the moment I am following the Fx HW Keyboard Phone and also watch the progress of Maemo Leste. I try to look at the active topics on tmo daily. |

Hello!
I would love to have an alternative (to Android etc.) & up-to-date mobile device. My main focus is on internet usage, not phone usage. Recently I got hold of a Nokia N9. Browsing the wiki & forums, it now looks like this is even possible with the N9 with either Maemo Leste or Devuan for the N9! Currently I'm taking baby steps; I already worked my way through Resurrect your N9, and am now tackling Ubiboot (which appears to be a necessary prerequisite for installing one of the 2 above mentioned OSs?) - and I'm stuck at the first step: getting the device into Open-Mode. OK, this is just a quick hello, I'll go back to work on this, but happy for any pointers to the general idea of making the N9 up-to-date and usable! |
