The forum linked from the wiki page is a testbed at the moment, so isn't linked from the main meego.com pages.

Well, there are some purists that don't seem to like a commercial software (vBulletin) to be used in MeeGo, so all this work might not materialize after all. phpBB3 is being proposed.

Re: MeeGo forum? (maemo.org round)

Well, I went through that whole discussion, and the purists love to blah-blah about the theory, but I don't see anyone stepping up to actually run the project on an open source platform.

For me, it seems pretty straightforward, and it has nothing to do with software licenses. Do we want Reggie to run the forums? If so, we're using vBulletin. If we don't want Reggie to run the forums, who will?

I personally think Reggie's the resource that needs to be preserved, so I'm behind him and whatever he wants to use.

Yup, in the end it's always the people and their skills that count, not ideas, tools or numbers.

One sure sign that this is a fundamental truth is that bean counters consistently fail to understand it.

I agree with the purists in principal, but I'm happy to compromise over something like forum software and go with something that is know to work. All the reasons Reggie has given in his post - experience, expertise, reliability, functionality, security - are entirely valid and unless the purists want to run the forums themselves they should back away quietly and move on to something more important.
