Ofcourse you may do it marmistrz's way but then you need to save the file marmistrz gave you in MyDocs, first |

Re: [Announce] QCPUFreq - modify your maximum CPU speed
Well not all n900 are stable at 900-1150mhz range only few manages to run stable at 1ghz and beyond.
You should try lower frequencies 850mhz and below.. |

pasted in MyDocs command copied in terminal last lines setting up qcpufreq (0.4.5-1)... processing triggers for catorise... #####################/home/user # is it all ok? EDIT- slider to 1100....rebooted.....im a new guy in N900...overclocking may not be good if not an expert..isnt? but 250-750 is safe ...isnt??with good battery too... now settings icon needs 3 tap to open......some error has happened... |
Re: [Announce] QCPUFreq - modify your maximum CPU speed
OC can be dangerous, some phones can't handle more than 1000. Also overclocking is not really needed as it won't make the N900 that much smoother as IO is the bottleneck in terms of performance. For instance, I almost never overclock as I don't think it will gain much. I only overclock when I try to shoot a 720p video and some emulator, like dosbox. Generally 750 is safe, but every frequency you will go higher can reduce your CPU lifespan drastically. The SoC found in the N900 is meant to run at 500mhz, Nokia already overclocked it to 600mhz.
So my advise is to leave it at 600mhz, *unless* you really need more cycles for eg gaming. For general use it isn't recommended, of course you can decide yourself to run fulltime on higher frequency and some here also do that, so I don't say it is dangerous but 1 thing is sure, higher frequencies can/will decrease the lifespan of the cpu. |
