Congrats De Bernardis ;) you've spotted it :p You won something.. go look for it ahahha |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
My replacement does have the N900 label top right.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
ehehe I think the Summit loaned device will go to a developer friend of mine. Maybe he'll come out with a nice idea out of it...

It would be nice if the discount could be extended past the end of the year...

My DDP device was pristine when I received it. Battery cover sticker and screen protector in place etc.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
My package is stuck in Cincinnati. For 24 hours it was on Clearance delay. Now it has changed to Shipment on hold.
|
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
That sounds like a bummer. Here's my latest info, but I don't think I'll see it till Monday. Did your's look anything like this before it got put on hold? I'm just south of you.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Here's exactly what mine said -- you be the judge. Snow + the holiday might be the delaying factors, I hope, rather than a customs problem. Maybe having them send the cocaine in my N900 was a mistake. (joke!)

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Mine was put on hold as well before the second (successful) one.
I am pretty sure it was because of the snow in Milan and north of Italy. |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Yeah, "snow" would certainly cause a delay.

I was sitting on the fence because of those horribe initial reports, and now I have it for 7 days, I think it is a good device. the better hw plus maemo5 makes a world difference .,. even with the same old apps from diablo. I have been using the N800 as a phone. the recieving end always complaints quality. n900 DONT have this problem over sip because of better hw (or sw). i am glad I bought the N900. Quim, thanks for the invitation. My 1st post using N900. bun |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Yay, mine no longer says shipment on hold, so it's out of customs and on its way.
Edit: Specifically, it says Clearance processing complete at Cincinnati, OH. |

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Uhm... mine does have a small issue, hardware wise...
The volume buttons do not "click" properly. The rightmost side doesn't click at all, while the leftmost side does click a bit. They do work fine though... not sure what to do :( |

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
I'm somewhat concerned about the many picky things that could be wrong with my N900 when I get it, and the one week I have to find them. It's a good thing I'm not going to be out of town soon, or it would be too late to send it back the instant I saw it.
If 10% of the N900s have a serious defect (I have seen that estimate), someone is going to get one defective N900 after another, just because of bad luck. I hope that's not me :) Of course, the one-week period in which the device can be sent back ENCOURAGES hair-trigger decisions -- might as well send it back, delay could be fatal! |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
I'm glad that they are now being delivered...
On a brighter note MicroB works fine with a chrome directory and userContent.css. Faheem's WML Browser port also works. The Mplayer plug-in needs some work but that might be more on the Mplayers end as it recognizes the file type from within the browser but hangs downloading the playlist. The browser and speed of the connection is the heart and soul of this thing. A user editable CSS file would go a long way in the mass appeal department. Then others could experience the joy of "click to play" flash tweaks as well as on the fly ad blocking and tailored views of favorite sites. |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
I got my N900. There is no buzzing when I hit a key, though the setting is checked correctly.
The only thing I can charge the N900 with is the microusb adapter. I don't have anything that will plug into a standard US electrical outlet. I have one of those two-prong adapters that would work fine plugging into an electrical outlet in Russia, but I'm in California. I'm not sure it is worth returning this thing for those two minor flaws. So far I'm not enjoying the experience much, not sure why. Maybe the screen size bugs me. |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Which keys and which buzzing ?
I don't quite get it |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Whenever you hit the anykey or the touchscreen, there is a low vibration by default. It is in the Settings and can be turned off.
Fortunately, I can now feel the vibration. I must be attuned to it now. So, besides the lack of a US plugin for an electrical outlet, this unit seems just fine so far. |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
If vibra doesn't work on calls - send it back.

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Forum Nokia and the DDP to the rescue!!
My Summit loaner N900 has had a serious hardware problem since the start of March. It was acting drunk and irrational, and refusing to act like a well behaved N900 (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=46134). After shopping around for another, I remembered that I did not purchase one through the DDP even though I received the invitation in December. Of course, the N900 was no longer being offered for 250 Euros in my eStore. But, a quick email to Forum Nokia, and after a few days, they reactivated my offer to buy it at the original discount price. It was shipped last Friday, and is in Toronto today. Hopefully I will get delivery of it tomorrow! Thank you Forum Nokia and Maemo Devices for your generosity. Jonesing it has been difficult. |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Great news :)
Just in time to update it to the upcoming PR1.2 !! |
Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
Woohoo! I'm back in the game... shiny new N900 via the DDP. Not being able to use one the past month has really made me appreciate it. I also have a new found respect for my N800, esp the screen size.
Thanks again Nokia. |

Re: N900 device program for maemo.org developers and contributors
btw, @ FRUCT conference here in mother Russia, there was a guy from Forum.Nokia that was describing how awesome all that FN and DDP stuff is. Then we asked him if he knows that DDP doesn't work in Russia and he, surprisingly, replied "yes". But he sweared that we'll never face all that hell that we've faced recently (payments thru other country, receiving the device tru 4 or 5 people around the europe). I think that's a good news :)
