I noticed that too. I was really considering purchasing it, but I've already placed my order. I wonder if it matters? I also wonder if I'll actually get my N900 on the 8th or the 9th.

Call them up. This is a great excuse to prod a bit more info from them. :o

PS: I noticed that the insurance appears to cover accidental damage. I wonder if they offer a less expensive insurance that would only cover manufacturer defects.

Do you happen to have a link to where it talks about the warranty or cost or anything? I'd be interested in this especially if it includes accidental damage.

Sure, just go the N900 page:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=A3076016

Look on the right side of the page. It does include accidental damage. You may also want to consider getting your warranty from squaretrade.com. That is where I got mine from (3 years).

Wow, 130 bucks for 2 years? That's crazy. What did you end up paying for Square Trade? I tried looking into it this weekend but didn't have enough time to fiddle with it. I think it was quoting me around 60 bucks for 2 years, does that sound right?

Hi just called dell and they have no update from nokia for the n900 for the next shipment date. I guess there answer is nokia didnt know that dell had pre-orders before alot of the dates that alot of people got there orders shiped out before 11-5 orders. I got dell to refund my overnight shipping charges but will still be kept at overnight :)

my new total is 485.80 thats not bad...

Go here to get a coupon for SquareTrade:

Yes, you should be able to get much better deal from them, I think.

Dell just told me that due to 3rd party vendors not being in stock , those of us on west coast or those with delivery dates originally anticipated for 12/6,7.or 8 will not be recieving n900 now till 1/15. i have email to prove this. Wow , what a joke. so i cancelled and ordered from nokia . yes i paid 100 bucks more but no more drama.

They must had just started production when Nokia said they were shipping on 11/10.

I still do not see a huge increase in posts from people that actually have them. Nokia seems to have screwed the launch availability up and also put game emu's in the spotlight. Double slam.

Maybe the same marketing team did both? You know, I thought I was joking, but maybe not.

I just talked with someone at Dell, and my order was put into the system on 11/25, and they mentioned something about stock being available on 12/7, but had to give this standard "it may/may not happen" disclaimer.

They did mention that it was in "hot demand" and that orders are processed in the order in which they receive them, blah blah. Either way, here's to hoping.

What was the original shipping estimate date on your 11/25 order?

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

man i dont know what to freaking believe any more. The supervisor guy left me a vm and an email on friday telling me my order "should" ship Dec 4th. I also had a couple of guys said they are expecting shipment in Dec 2nd. Now I am reading here that westcoast customers will get the shaft due to supply? How is this even possible when Nokiausa shows in stock? Shouldn't they be allocating their supply to all preorders regardless of vendor? I give it to friday if nothing happens im just cancel the whole stupid order and wait till next year for a diff phone or buy it some where else.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Well everyone, I had to contact Dell today to refund the purchase for the warranty when I originally purchased the N900 (Originally I purchased the device and a warranty, and a day later it was placed on sale, so to take advantage of the sale price I had to cancel my first order and place a new one). After taking care of the refund situation, they checked on the status of my order and informed me that their vendors stock would not be refilled until 30-Dec.-2009. Previously, I was informed that the vendors would refill their stock today (30-Nov.-2009). So, the waiting game continues :(. I just wanted to share what info I was provided, even though it pretty much the same ol' sad story.

BTW my expected delivery date is 1-Feb.-2010, and my current order was placed on 20-Nov.-2009 (I listed my info on the Google spreadsheet).

I agree- Nokiausa sale ends today i heard and i am seriously considering jumping ship and goign to Nokia. I sent my Dell guy thats handling my order an email asking him to verify if n900 is really being pushed back till end of Dec. He will let me know in a few when he finds out more.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I personally don't mind waiting a bit more. What I think is not reasonable is for them to start shipping to customers that ordered it after we did.

Ok i got a response- he said the order is expected to arrive Dec 2nd and I should have it Dec 4th since i paid for 2 day shipping.

I got the exact same thing:

Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Care.

Your issue has been assigned service request number 808163637 regarding the status of your order. I apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you. Rest assured that I?m working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and you don?t have to call us again for this issue.

Dell records reflect that system order number 939245092 were placed on 11-05-09. The estimated delivery date as per update from our vendor, Nokia, your N900 UNLOCKED SMARTPHONE is estimated to be delivered 01/15/2010 due to a Pre-Sold Backlog. I do apologize for the delay in your order. I understand where you are coming from and we greatly appreciate your patience.

I think I may jump ship as well... Dell is just getting ridiculous

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I've called Dell numerous times and I've heard so many different lies from them, so I just placed an order with Nokia. I spoke to a rep there and she said they had plenty of stock on hand. They have a 14 day return policy from the date of receipt of item, so if Dell happens to ship the phone and I receive it by the anticipated date of 12/10 then I'll just return the phone back to Nokia for a full refund (minus the $10 express shipping cost). At this point I really hate Dell and their clueless, lying customer care reps, so the $100 price difference doesn't even feel that bad. Plus I should definitely be able to take advantage of the $50 mail in rebate (which was questionable on my Dell order since the order date was 11/5).

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

un-freaking believable. what kind of bs is nokia/dell up to with all these misleading information. as others have expressed here, my interest in the n900 is dwindling down.

its unacceptable for those thats from the west coast gets screwed because of "low supply" but meanwhile its in stock and ready to ship from nokiausa site. haha.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I did same as Ngacrs did, I still have an active order with Dell and I bought one from nokia and called them today to see why have I not yet received any shipping details and he said that its already on process and I should get shipping details by today evening or tomorrow morning, and I will receive my phone no later than this Friday the 4th. So yeah if Dell does deliver my phone on the December 10th I will return my Nokia order and if not then I will call them and cancel my order.

Someone ordered it last week and got it last week with *regular* shipping. I ordered it a few days after this person with *next day* shipping and I have yet to see a tracking number.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I finally broke down and called Dell for the first time; was trying to decide whether to cancel & go with the Nokia sale before it expired. Supposedly mine's going to ship on 12/7/09, but I'm not sure I believe that. For ~$140-$200 difference I think I'll stick it out for a few more days. :/

somedude 2009-11-30 23:47

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Got a call from Dell just now from a guy names Troy he said that he is really sorry becasue of bla bla bla bla bla
but at last he told me that he has sent their vendor that is nokia to put me on their first of the priority list to ship the phone and said I have been upgraded to the free overnight shipment.
Right after that I told him whats the proof that you did that then with out any hesitation he gave me a confirmation number: 808XXXXXX and told me if I have any doubt I can call back Dell and give the confirmation number and make sure on that.
SO lets see where did I end up in the priority list in few days.

Edit: Oh remember that order number and order detail you can pull off of google I told him look at that and explain me, he said honestly I do not know anything and you are probably 200th person that has asked me that just today, Yeah we are getting calls back and forth about this order and customer who called to compare and explain them.

Seems like guys from the forum are doing a good job on bugging dell lately.

edit: just checked my order online on Dells site and now it says next day delivery which used to say 5-7 days. yippie, got something from all those ranting

Hahha, that's hilarious that we're finally starting to make a dent in their call center. They know about our rants. I just did a similar thing. I've been coresponding with a Dell rep via email (called her originally over the phone), and she says that ESD is still 12/10 on my order, but wanted to know if I still want to cancel, and reorder and take advantage of $75 coupon she has approved for me.

I still think I'm going to wait it out. I don't want to re-order only to have my ship date be mid-January. Plus, if other vendors are shipping now, and I can get the N900 way before 12/10 for a resonable price, I told her I would just up and cancel all together. That is....of course...unless they can persuade me to stick with Dell with an upgrade to next-day-shipping free of charge. ;) Let's see if she bumps me up to next day...can't hurt to ask.
