Enduring on this policy will make the customer very very upset...

And the worst thing is this aura of secrecy This way of dealing with fans, buyers.... Like "I really dont care about you guys, I just want to seduce you so you dont buy an other smartphone... yet". But this will be blown as soon as the phone will be out and somebody, not the nokia paid people gives it a bad review... And we all N900 dreamers will be awake from our self induced mania...
I am sorry Nokia but this is not the way... Learn to respect costumer... And in my experience delayed product are deleyed because they do not work properly
Peace

Their's a video floating around here somewhere of a guy on YouTube doing an unboxing of the N900 with someone else saying that this was the production unit, because of all the accessories as well as the user manual was in the box.

The new rebate that just showed up states:

Quote:

Requires purchase of a new, eligible Nokia N97, Nokia N900, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, or Nokia 5530 XpressMusic (Games Edition) device between November 16, 2009 and December 31, 2009
and

Quote:

Offer not valid if the Nokia device is returned or if it is purchased outside of the United States.
The timing of the rebate seems strange. Is Nokia trying to buffer a later-than-expected shipping date, trying to provide a clue when it will ship, or none of the above?

What will you do when it will be clear that Nokia wants to sell N900 for Christmas?

I am sure that late in the evening there will be a lines sayng that the n900 will be delayed until the end of the month... I am sure of this...
Many relible online store had already the news and changed the site and policy...
What it's happening is very sad...

Definitely trying to sooth over the people who are considering cancelling their N900 orders. I think Nokia realizes at this point that all the high pre-orders they had, which meant high revenue are starting to dwindle which means, lower overall revenue.

Nokia is gonna kick themselves in the *** once they realize unexpected low sales of this phone because of their lack of professionalism. You can't do this to your customer base and expect them to stay with you.

There's a link to it on the amazon n900 page. But it doesn't seem specific to amazon.

He isn't a "guy"... He is the reviewer of Telefonino.net, the biggest italian community about mobile. (It make 15Million of pages/month and more that 1.2Million of different ip/month)

However, he says that he got it on last friday and it is the FINAL version of Nokia N900. So we think that dispatching is imminent...

Guys,

Move along now, there is nothing to see. With the N97 it took 10-12 days from announcement of shipping to shops. Why should it be any different this time?

Nokia put the delivery date back from October to November. We'll all have our devices a week or so from now.

Amazon, and other bizarre retailers know *nothing*. MPD in the UK probably knows a little more than most. But that's about it.

Everybody please, please relax.

What 'aura of secrecy'!? Have Nokia not announced a delay and then shipping? The phone will be distributed once it reaches its respective retailers - end of. Usually it has taken 2 weeks from shipping to get to the end user. The timelines were that with the N95, I remember (last time I was waiting in anticipation!).

Just got off the phone to MPD.

They tell me the phones aren't in yet and they expect them at the end of the month!

God this is so annoying... if they said end of November from the outset I wouldn't have got myt hopes up and I'd have been fine about it. It's being constantly let down that starts to really piss me off. B*ll*cks.

Seriously!!? That sucks big balls!! Like you I would have been fine with end of Nov. I can live with delays but I'd like some kind of notice! Not to be told (not even directly!) on the day they said they'd dispatch the damn thing as little as a week or so ago!

I hope you are one of these forum members who like to wind people up just to get a reaction!

Also, just thought I'd see what MPD were claiming as the release date for people ordering now, and it shows (see link below) "Delivery during late November"!

http://www.nokiaretail.co.uk/Brands/...489/p26078.htm

Oh Btw, how did you get them on the phone? Everytime I rign I just get a message telling me to leave a message! So I filled in their enquiry form instead.

Oh you have to be ********ing joking. Just checked MPD- their online chat function has disappeared and n900 is now quoted as being 'delivery late November'. Pleeaase tell me this is not for those that preordered as well or I'm going to go absolute batsh*t.

I can confirm that MPD are now stating late November (on the phone as well as on their website). Glad that I'm going to the London meeetup tomorrow. Someone will have a lot of explaining to do.

I tried the enquiry form which they just seem to ignore. I managed to phone them just by hammering the phone for ages, I'm that desparate for the phone (or that sad).

The lad I spoke to seemed like an 18 year old numpty though and I'm hoping he was refering the new orders on the basis that alll the back orders have been filled. Fingers crossed.

Rang expansys (uk) who seem adamant that they will get a delivery on Wednesday followed by back order later on. Bizarrely the girl could say Wednesday and wasn't sure how many are due in. Their site still shows a 2 day lead time so they must believe the Weds delivery, and they've always been accurate in the past.

And no I'm not a troll trying to wind you up. My MPD order still shows as "New" ...ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!

yeah, me too. I really think MPD should take more responsibility for changes in any dates and be ready to inform their customers in advance. They made it widely known that the 16th was the date they planned to dispatch and they MUST have known before today that it wasn't going to happen. A quick email to those customers who have already ordered to explain the delay would not have taken much...

Not only you. I'm checking MPD's order tracker every second minute hoping to see that "Pending stock" thing to go away finally!

I'm annoyed teh phone will be a bit longer coming but what is really annoying me is the lack of ANY communication! In the whole time I've had my pre-order with MPD, I've had 1 email from them about it, and that was simply saying it's a great phone and worth the wait!

If we get told today that it'll be another or two, then I think it's a disgraceful way to run a business! Why can't they just be a bit more transparent and honest, just say we're expecting them 16th Nov, but it could be delayed a little. Then at the end of last week, if/when it was looking likely they wouldn't get them that soon, they could have said that and I would have been happy (well happier, but still a little annoyed! lol)

Online business is all about communication, a site that sells mobile phones should KNOW this!

Grrrrr. Ok end of rant, I realise I'm probably jumnping the gun on this and will look silly later should peoples order start changing from "Pending Stock" to "Dispatched". *Hopes*

I'm really worried that my MPD order is still showing as New/Other rather than pending stock... I'm tempted to pay the extra £50 to give expansys a punt but I'm worried about losing my place in the queue. Although expansys have always be excellent with me.

If your order is 'New', then you're probably not even in the queue...

I wouldn't trust Expansys's dates. I remember pre-ordering a MSI Wind from them and the date for dispatch kept getting set back, just like the N900.

Curious, when did you preorder? Mine was on Oct 15 and is showing up as pending stock..
