As it stands I feel like canceling my MPD order out of principal, but I think they know they have us by the 'short and curlies'as its the only choice of phone in its class. They don't even have to inform us until there are excess units appearing in official nokia stores. We'll be there or thereabouts waiting for that day. Either let our wallets do the talking or wait patiently and let them play their not so clever games. Ill bet the whole process has been pushed back a DAY at least by the constant phone calls and emails and webchats though. Im waiting for now but much more messing and people are gonna start dropping off for alternatives for all the wrong reasons. |

According to British law any merchant is free to advertise products they sell Just like my corner shop does :D http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YtxGNf8GgR...0/IMG_4456.JPG And according to quick a google search "Nokiaretail" have an agreed license to use the name as they sell *mainly* Nokia's products They are not the same company. They don't have the same shipping agreements nor do they share the same staff. But if you choose to believe that they are then good luck with the wait. I'm off to see the head of coca cola at my corner shop. His name is Ranjeet Singh |

Vodafone UK said it depends on each shops rules as they could all differ. This particular Nokia shop also said they only had 5 names on the reserve list so there would be enough stock for walk ins, really? Thats surprising! After all I have read on this forum I do not believe anything anyone says until I see it in the hand of Mr shopkeeper...and that doesn't look like any time soon as the excuses are still the same as last month.stock next week....next week....... |

I don't know if I should just stick with my HD2 coming in a few days, or cancel my order and wait until the n900 is available at the carphonewarehouse. |

The biggest pluses for me on the HD2 is the gorgeous 4.3" screen and the intuitive HTC sense UI. I love the cover-flow style of the music player and, again, viewing web pages on that 4.3" screen will be luxurious. The N900 brings out the geek in me more so than the HD2. I love the multitasking capabilities that it offers and I have to say I am a fan of the way it looks. Smaller screen but I would assume that images would look just that little more crips with a higher DPI. Also the physical keyboard would be beneficial as that screen space would not be compromised like it would be with an on-screen keyboard. I think I'll have to make my mind up when I have both of them in my hands. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
The idea that i mentioned before about going on strike outside the main MPD store might not work......... I live in Manchester won't make sense me coming down that far. But we need to do something, something big, big enough to teach MPD a lesson they won't forget.

"Expected December 2009 Expected date is subject to change without notice" ...........at least they're honest.......you would hope:D Think they'll tell you any old info just to get money out of your wallet for safekeeping till they come up with the actual goods. Think theres gonna be a shortage from wherever you get it. I see MPD being the lesser of the evils as they claim exclusivity on contract orders. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Sooo, another day dawns, another day without any word from MPD about my order (21st October/T-mobile contract). I am still working on the assumption that they will deliver my device on the 3rd December since that is what they stated in their last email to me and that was the last official communication.
I am an idiot of course for believing that...;) |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Moring, Day out of the workplace so no F5 refresh all day for me.
Just had to check before I went :) Workplace? Makes me sound about 16. I'm actually 40. watching people training all day. I predict 5 staged deaths I teach bomb disposal |

I think if you read the email again slowly you will see that what its actually saying is they will have stock in there warehouse ready for dispatch on the 3rd. that to me says the stock will arrive on the 3rd but not dispatch then! in regards to ordering else where, i think its best we stay put after all we are in a queue whats the point in leaving the queue to join the back of another queue. we have waited this long so why not wait a bit longer after all from all the reviews i have read, its going to be well worth the wait. |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Morning all.
I'm going to try and keep away from here today (and do a bit more work than usual!). I figured that at best, all we'll get is hearsay until tomorrow. When that magical 3/12/09 rolls around, then we can start really pressing them. To date, the 3rd is the best date we have, with Steve saying Friday (4th) so doubt much will come out of today. I'll check back periodically of course! I definitely won't be leaving my place in the queue - I recon I might actually be in the first batch, and its not like I'll get it anywhere else sooner with such a good deal (T-mobile), so more sitting about for me! Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Goooooooooooooooood Morning everyone :) - what a lovely day in the N900 waiting room it is too :)
Agree with Stayloa, not much going to happen today, but according to the laws of probability, Katie Price, aka Jordan might get an N900 today!, well thats what you get when she has been out of the news for almost a whole day and mix it with the least officially reported object in history :) Anyway... I should really also do some work today... Have a good day alls :) |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
If 'she' gets one that may push me over the edge and i will cancel, the same if paris hilton gets one.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
hi guys, thought u might find this interesting
as much as i want the n900 now... i am prepared to wait 6 weeks to get it through an operator - just came across this blog. Looks like nokia are screwing vodafone as well withthe release of this device - they had exclusivity for 2 months - november - january.. so come the jan sales i shall pop myself down the shop and get it from the o2 store. i've waited 3 months, i can wait another 6 weeks - new firmware might be out by then as well this is for anyone who like me, cant trust MPD anymore but still really wants the n900. If it goes wrong, i want to know its going to be on my doorstep the next day in the form of a replacement. not get lost in some horrible black hole of 3rd-party-vendor-no-return what operators will get the n900: http://www.mobile-users.net/2009/11/...s-will-get-it/ when they will get it: http://www.mobile-users.net/2009/11/...sivity-update/ bye bye 1st batch mpd order.. screw you!!!! |

Will be at least 8 weeks, as they are saying end of January - and we all know over the last few months when they said end of october, they meant end of december :) - so expect it around easter time :) hehehe But happy to see an extra slot open up in the mpd early batches :) |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
What extra slot?

Well, I just had a webchat as I was unsure when the first payment of my contract would have to be paid. Anyway the 'webperson' mentioned that there was no definite date yet, but they would keep me updated via e-mail:rolleyes:
I have only ever had one e-mail ever:( |

On another note- has anyone else pre-ordered just by giving them your phone number for a call back "when they're in stock"? Judging by how (un)reliable MPD have been, I feel there's a chance I may have just been fobbed off...wonder if there's anyone else in the same boat? |

I dreamt last night that my N900 was delivered (from MPD) and it was awsome! What a disappointment, to find out when I woke up this morning that it was only a dream. I can't even go to sleep without thinking about this damn phone! Anyone else been having similar dreams?

I stopped anxiously refreshing Order Tracker facility as I know that once my order gets shipped, I'll get automated email notification anyway. A friend of mine who's also waiting for N900@MPD has ordered HTC HD2 on contract yesterday (for his wife ;), got his order completed nearly instantly and also got automated confirmation email as well. That makes me sure that I'll get same sort of email once my N900 parcel hits delivery van, so I just sit back and wait. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
i'm actually getting some of the worst nights sleep ever these days.
Last night kept having those dreams about the n900 except my brain mixed it up with my course work. Dreampt i was designing a new interface for the device and was conserned it wouldnt be as good as maemo's original one. Silly dream and kept waking me up too! So now im very tired, have lots of work to do, and still have no n900. baah |
