Perhaps they emphasize more on MeeGo? Previous First Cut release was fast.... but PR1.2 news and the YouTube videos on the upcoming updates, which I think was posted since February...

Perhaps they found some issues? Perhaps they trying to add new things? Hmmm...
I rather they released the updates more often than update once in a blue moon.
People who updates often can always update, while some can choose to update after several updates available.
It's better than no updates for everyone and just wait for one big update that takes months.

Just my personal opinion.

So who plans on doing an over the air update, whos planning on a regular reflash, and who is doing a full reflash. I'm doing a full one (wipes MyDocs clean too).

After overclocking i'm not sure if ota will work, i'll try it but I think i'll end up just flashing it.

Full Reflash for me. I think I'm getting some crashes sometimes due to filesystem corruption, so I'll be better off starting with a clean slate.

Full reflash for me. Start with a clean slate. :) Hope it is released when Nokia is comfortable with it and not a day before.

Was PR1.1.1 available to beta testers before coming to the N900?
Can't developers be considered beta testers? PR1.2 is already on the SDK scratchbox environments - and working well!

:mad: If Nokia takes one more week to release this stuff, I think I'll buy a plane ticket and bomb their HQ in Finland. :( That would be just too much.

There is a huge update on the public Maemo5 repo on 1st April including all the new packages in PR1.2

Not so long until PR1.2 now :)

Theoretically you can update to PR1.2 now by manually installing each individual deb files :)

For example, get the latest Hildon Desktop - http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...+0m5_armel.deb

This will remove More.. menu and hopefully arrange icons too.
I haven't install it yet as currently on Easter break but definitely worth a try

Biggest threat to Nokia ? No not Apple, HTC or Google etc. Its Nokia itself. These guys come with a self destruct button; absolute lack of focus and POOR execution..... and yet they reward their CEO with millions in compensation.

I really hope Nokia can get things right as they are potentially better than the competition by a distance. Wake up Nokia, PLEASE !!!

dont rush them....the longer they released, that means they are doing testing. if they rushed the delivery, there could be half baked problems :). and you will not like it.

Looking at the impatience of the community now...I can't imagine what will happen if Nokia announces a date and then fails to deliver on it.

This is why they don't publicly announce any firmware updates. Not even estimates on the date of arrival.

A guy in Car phone warehouse told me there would be an update this week. I think he told me to get rid of me as I was complaining about my Cameras performance in lowlight conditions (ie lots of noise and horizontal lines across the picture)
Anyway if it doesn't come by Friday and if it doesn't fix my camera woes I shant be as easy to fob off next time.

P.S. does anyone know if there will be any camera improvements in pr1.2 and if so do you think they will address my problem?

Now some are preaching that if Nokia doesn't get the update in 7 days they are pretty much done.

Honestly the update will fix some bugs, change the menu struckture, add some apps, some will say their device feels faster and some don't see any difference to previous version..

The thing i already know is that no update ever could make same kind of difference than my Cortex-8 running at 900mhz ;)

peoples impatience for the next release is driven only by speculation on this stupid thread.

If you all just chilled and worried not, a nice suprise might greet you at some point soon...ish!

Most posts in this forum are proof that most dont read more than about 3 reponses above the most recent otherwise most posts would remain useful as opposed to digressing into the usual crud that they end up in.

Seriously, who gives a **** when the next release comes? Do you have sleepless nights over it and awake really early just to check your notification area?
