The chargers are so simple that I doubt that you can go seriously wrong. someone who knows better is welcome to correct me, but the chargers I've had (just a couple of them) have worked fine for years and looked super-inexpensive to build.

hi my version shows: 2.2009.1-1.203.2

does anyone know if this is vodafone-branded?? i thought the branded ones have a personalised vodafone welcome screen, and some vodafone-related applications - which I DONT have... the phone was unlocked also...

if its vodafone's firmware, i guess i can flash a "normal" firmware...

Three things:
1. I have the Nokia n900 sitting on my desk now.
2. I am 23 years of age.
3. I am employed as an engineer, and the salary associated with this enabled condition #1 to occur.

I have this one one phone too. but running update from terminal install it.... For US updates available since this morning...

See this post for info how to check: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=644

p.s. if "apt-get upgrade" will tell you some thing like 28 packages available for upgrade and will provide list that is mean that you can upgrade. For upgrade you should answer Yes

205 is the Vodafone specific firmware, 203 is the Nokia UK/unlocked firmware. This has been mentioned several times in the thread, including by myself, no flame but the "Search this thread" tool at the top of the page would have saved you the time to post :) I think this gets overlooked a lot, as the same questions do come around and around every few pages.

You are still able to flash the global firmware if you so desire.

Just search it grrrrrr!!!

;)

The reason we have 81 pages is because nobodies doing it! :P I'm at the conclusion that everything that can be asked has already been answered several times over... and over.. and over.. It's all in here, a quick search will grab it :) Especially now the number of folks is dropping off as the UK (last locale) goes to sleep, there'll not be as many around to answer questions... until we all meet back here tomorrow for 'where's my firmware update' part2 ofcourse :)

I've read this update is only 16mb large. I just got my N900 today, the first Maemo 5 update was version 1.2xxxxx. Then it allowed updating to this version 3.2xxxxx except it says it's 93mb. Is this because it includes all the other updates that have occurred since the initial first update?

Hi everyone,
i installed the update (over the air) today and everything was fine, phone restarted after install and felt a little faster.
But after restarting manually, the media player is not working, cant either play songs or movies.

Anyone else got the same problem? Try restarting the phone manually after the update and see if the media player is working..
And if anyone got a solution, be kind and share it.

EDIT: a friend of mine has now the same issue, we both live in Sweden.. (maybe it matters, maybe not)

when i press the Power button, I can see "Tablet mode" on the menu... when i select this, it shows "phone mode".... im sure this was not there before the flash / update..
can anyone confirm this?? what does it do??

edit: btw i dont have a sim card right now, i am wondering if its the application "disable cellular"..... -

Go to X-Term and do before test

killall gst-video-thumbnailerd
kill `ps | grep mafw-gst-renderer | grep -v grep | cut -f2 -d' '`

(space between two quotes).

The sluggish video may be because of bugs 8165 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8165) or 7147 (https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7147)

If helps - vote for it for faster resolution.

loaded and installed update fine here ^^

the tablet mode button is from "cellular modem control Buttons app"
i think, shown here before update i think with that app.

Btw media player works here even after manually restart. (germany)

I checked by manually shutting down and starting. Music and video play fine. It's like using a hammer to solve a simple problem but a clean flash might help?

Hi everybody, first time posting here but I was just wondering if I'm the only one with this problem. I installed firmware 3.2010.02-8 and everything works fine but I can not use my internet keep taking me to a page web2go saying I need to update my data plan. (T-mobile USA) so I flash it back to the firmware before and the internet works again. Then I try to flash 3.2010.02-8 again n internet dont work tried the global version of the firmware and the internet still dont work. Anybody have any Idea how I can go around that? Thanks in advance.

How you see this message? Can you describe an exact sequence?

EDIT: Go to "Settings/Internet connections/T-Mobile", pass-and-record-on paper all settings in old FW version and copy it in new FW version.

when I try to open the default web browser n try to open google it takes me to a page stating that I have to update my data plan. And I cant go to any other web sites or use anything that have to do with internet like the app updater.

Go to "Settings/Internet connections/T-Mobile", pass-and-record-on paper all settings in old FW version and copy it in new FW version.

EDIT: Or do backup in old FW and just restore it in new FW - it saves the configuration.

The bottom rail of mine is starting to show symptoms of popping out - when I touch the screen down the bottom near it, the screen clicks down a bit away from the bezel. It's not the haptic feedback by the way because this happens even when the phone is off.

Hope I don't end up with as bad a problem as yours!

it says that my device is not compatible with my data plan and I have to upgrade my plan then it takes me to a page where theres a few different plan that I can upgrade it to. But the thing is I dont want to pay more money for something that I already have before updating the firmware/

Well network video streaming seems to have been fixed for atleast WMV files. AVI files still fail to stream across the network.

By the way thanks for all your replies. No Im not over my allowance and its not the settings cause I called tmobile n they guide me though the settings that are needed and it doesnt need a login name or pass either. The thing is when I got my data plan a while back they told me there is only one plan and its unlimited but the price depend on my phone. If its a smart phone it cost alot more. And luckily they have no idea what my phone is so they activated my unlimited data plan for only $10 a month but with this new firmware update somehow they detect my phone as a smart phone and wont let me use the data plan. I have no problem connecting its just that I cant do anything with it after I connect. since you guys here always have the answer to everything about this phone I was just wondering if anybody know a way around. if not then I guess I wont be able to update firmware ever again. Cause I dont want to pay $40 a month for internet instead of $10. And in case you guys r wondering how I called T-mobile and they still dont know I have a smart phone is cause they still dont know what a n900 is lol
