Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Hehehe!

The version at the moment is still a development version - hence a few blank placer windows :P
It does go nicely with your theme though!

I'm slowly adding things to the blank windows over the coming weeks....

I am however hitting a few problems with qt....

The following sections either dont work or won't work correctly on maemo (QT Mobility)
audio-input/output
Haptic Feedback
keyboard lights
main led's
(unsure on gps, will try today)

So whilst i'm still adding things, i'm trying to think of a sensible way round the above. Not really wanting to use gstreamer etc as it moves away from multiple OS compatibility.....

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

For the GUI, those buttons which can be pressed should be somehow more clearly visible compared to others which do not have anything to click to. Like different color in the background. For example in Cell / Phone screen, the top right "sub-window" is actually a select list but it is hard to notice just by looking at it.

Is that gauge meter in Cell / Phone -screen a signal strength?
I do not quite understand that screen. I have "3G" on main status bar, but Healthcheck says "GSM" and shows some value of 50%

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Where possible, would you please add the "HW revision"? I believe it was in one of the earlier release but it appears not in V3 anymore.

also the swipe action is not that smooth on my N900(I have power kernel 42(max at 805hz), and with swappolube recommended settings)

cheers,

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Can you go back to the old version...sorry this NEW version suck bad....i hate the interface and i hate the scrolling and something is missing ....i just don't like the interface. I can't go back to reinstall and make the old version work again because some python files are missing and so it doesn't run.

I prefer version v1.2.0-3

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

romanianusa, i mean this in the politest possible way......... No.........

Many many reasons why........
a) you are rude
b) you are rude
c) you are not constructive at all
d) you are using software from extras devel
e) did i mention i think you are rude? :)

What i would prefer is for you to think about it a bit and explain what parts of the old and new versions you like....
Maybe what navigation would be best in your opinion?

Lots are missing as i have not finished it, the gui is a test to see how well it works (not that great) ... but how else am i going to design something people like without first getting it wrong?

Hi Zimon,

That screen is still a work in devel, the box is a selection box, so click GSM etc and a listbox appears. works fine on gsm and wifi i think, but the others are a bit iffy.

And a i agree, they really do need an fx overhall, :)

Hi cheve, will do :)
Forgot about that one :P

Yeah the swipe action is a bit slow, as it reloads all the stuff as you swipe, so takes a little bit...

Going to probably swap the swipe action to something a bit simpler i think :P

i don't think we should compliant, better to say we don't deserve complaint to any developer since they are providing softwares for free.they are keeping our device alive by developing free apps.i welcome any improvement or changes to any apps

if i don't like new change in any apps all i would mildly request him to help me.and definitely i will never hate any of developer.

so,in the last i realise that i think no human with heart can say or use this "HATE" words for any developer.

and yes you are rude!

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

hehehe :)
Thanks Nicholes

I think thats enough of a rant from us :)
Any constructive issue is a good issue :) - and the guy does have a point :P - it does look rubbish :)

I started again with a new look today (don't worry - the code is all done, so shouldn't take too long for me to swap and change!) :)

I need to try and find a visual look that works with the constant updates! :)

Allthough, correct, hate is a bit harsh!! - would have preferred:

Quote:

as I am using an extras-devel application, i will provide feedback:
The scrolling doesnt work very well, to slow and hard to use
the interface(ie, everything) doesn't look right...
And lots of things are missing
But feedback comes in many ways ;) hehe

It does beg the question, how would people like this information displayed?
A lower menu bar that can be hiddem? and main window with pop-out windows?
a dial on the side of the screen?
Or use the top menu?

WTF...did i ever said i hate the developers?? Get some clues!! I only express my opinion. My opinion is the UI is not intuitive....not user friendly, not appealing. I hate the UI...i don't hate the developers....get your fact straight!

If i can install the previous version...i wouldn't be bother coming in here but IT seems you can't go back to the previous version due to some incompatibility issues....that is the problem i have.

cheers!

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Lol ;) - ok, lets call an end to this one please :)
I get the point, that you dont like the new version, and the old one is incompatible :P

The old one is not being redeveloped, as it had many other issues. There fore i am happy to take thought out critique on the new one... So if there's (as i said before) any ideas you have, apps you like, i will take a look :) There is actually a fix for it to get it working in other posts, (and i think there is a few pages back on this thread too) - just need to hunt it down.

Both healthchecks are my first forway into each respective coding language (Python and c++), so i am no expert, just trying to fill a gap, and display info.

The current GUI - is still very very much in development, and was more a test of coding, then GUI - so it is most likely going to change alot! - i too am very keen to speed it up, and will probably be dropping the swipe action.

Anyway, please do leave some feedback (sensible stuff though) and i'll do my best to sort the new app out as quick as i can.

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

i dont see reasons not to appreciate healthcheck.

issues i believe, are normal for the latest version (saw on noobmonkey's sig.) and i know that it is being looked at.

i was goin' to ask noobmonkey to resize the fonts a bit larger but as i see, it would mess up the UI (might be more panes/swipes to view device info and General info Tab).

----for apps that i want on the n900, i want a game instead :-P A pinball game :D

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Hey Noobmonkey.
Got an idea for an app or widget.
I'd like a "tide clock" with 3 analogue dials showing low tide, current time and high tide. If it's a bit much for you to take up, just say and I'll post a request.

noobmonkey 2011-01-20 13:54

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

its a very interesting idea, i'm assuming it would need to feed in loation and tide data from somewhere?
would be good to do a separate post for this one, and see what others think, howver i might join in, sounds like a fun bit of learning

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Healthcheck gives me this when running it from Xterminal

BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

~ $ /opt/healthcheck/healthcheck
/opt/healthcheck/healthcheck: error while loading shared libraries: libQtSystemInfo.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
~ $

Can you help me what to do?

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Hi Salazar, hmmm, i'm assuming you are using the extras-devel version? (Therefore it sounds like a qtmobility issue.)

Please can you let me know what Maemo PR version you are using, and what QT versions you have installed? :)
(edit forgot to add, the sysinfo page loads lots of terminal calls, so could be related to those, but at work, and not near the code) - so can check later.

salazar 2011-01-20 15:06

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Yes im using extras-devel version, PR1.3. How do i look what QT versions i have, because i dont know how to do it?

dpkg -l libqt4-core

And then paste the output please?

It is a good idea :) - unfortunatley as you are probably aware with most of us, time is tight :) - everyone always seems busy these days hehe :)

I will pop over and take a look though. (I live so close to the sea, it would be rude not too!)

Well done salazar, that is almost exactly what i found out last night!, but didnt get time to post! - definitley looked like a borked qt install :P

Later healthcheck updates may give you similar errors with other parts of qt in the future though!
