Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Well, I think I posted before but not sure. Mine is broke now too and I'm not sure what the problem is.
- Same settings as before, but I think after the last update, it broke it - It now asks if I'm fine with getting it with data roaming though it never did before (never mattered either, and it at least seems like it attempts to connect - I uninstalled and reinstalled but that didn't help (same with resetting settings) - Tried the empty username and password fix but it didn't work - Current settings are small and havoc (though I've tried polite and rude as well) I'm on CinBell which uses ATT/T-mobile towers when in roaming (always for me.) If I get time later today, I'll install vim and get a detailed log. Thanks frals for your work. It has been great up til this last little bit of trouble. |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
How to get the log, no need to install anything new:
Also for listing the gconf settings use: gconftool-2 -R /apps/fmms instead of opening the xml files ;) Quote:

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Log sent.
Let me know if you need the complete gconf settings. phonenumber string for me is 0 as well. Edit: frals, tried replying to the email but it was rejected. Anyway, I tried out the new settings, saved, and closed. Didn't work. Not sure what exactly is holding it up. I've tried swapping a lot of different ones and can't get it right. WHen I switched the proxy too, it was unable to even give me a notification of a new mms, something the old one at least does. I'll keep trying different things and I'll post up if any of them work. Thanks for the help. |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I'm not getting any error messages - just that the MMS was was unable to be retrieved
I'm also getting the data romaning message |

Edit: fresh install, remember to reboot after uninstall and after install apt-get remove --purge fmms reboot apt-get install fmms it should automatically fetch your network settings, if not enter them manually, use small picture setting and havoc mode. |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I followed the above - tried again but still states OPERATION FAILED when I try to download an MMS
Checked my settings in the application and the t-mobile settings are held. One thing though - when I press advanced the 3 sections are empty for IP address, Primary DNS and Secondary DNS - should these be empty. As one of the previous posters noted - I get asked for Data Roaming and it does seem to automatically connect to my MMS even though that setting is down under Internet Connections |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
@fp125
The IP address, Primary DNS and Secondary DNS, for the most part should be empty, however this depends on your service providers MMS config. Do you have a separate apn for MMS and one for 3g/gsm? what mode are you using in fmms(polite, rude or havoc)? |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
@carlon
Same thing as FP125. I purged, rebooted, reinstalled and it still doesn't work. MMS settings were correct though the first time I started. What changed from the last version to the current one? |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I'm not sure what happened with the upgrade from ver 1.3.0 to 1.3.3, it was meant to fix an "unable to download" problem. I to am having issues with it app although it's some what different to yours i think. i'm not able to send but i can receive, very weird. I'm not sure if the developer (Frals) is aware of the problem or even if he's working on a fix for that matter:(

Check your settings against this site

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
@carlon
I contacted frals and he is aware of the issue, but he doesn't yet know what the problem is. As for my settings, I have CinBell and they are slightly different. I've fetched the proper settings from CinBell itself and have tried what has been posted on Android forums. Before, the internet settings were fine. I think the app might just have altered something slightly so it now refuses to connect right or something. |

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I'm having issues with getting fMMS 1.3.3 to work.
I did have it (i think a previous version) working with the same settings (i think) before reflashing my phone. I set up the application with my providers settings (Telenor, sweden) as follows: Name: services.telenor.se MMSC: http://mms/ Username / Password: <empty> HTTP-proxy: 172.30.253.241 Port: 8799 IP-address: 172.30.253.241 Mode: Havoc When i try to connect manually to the MMS-connection it works just fine, as do it when fMMS automaticly connect. When i try to open an received MMS, this is what happens: "Downloading MMS" "Operation Failed" Here is the complete log (deleted old log with fMMS closed, then started fMMS, clicked on a MMS then closed fMMS after "Operation failed") http://ircgeeks.net/~ilon/fmms.log |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Hello. I think fMMS is an absolute lifesaver for the Nokia N900. However, is anyone else experiencing problems with MMS text not reaching recipients or rather only a few characters, eleven to be exact?
I had contacted the fMMS developer on a number of occasions by e-mail mentioning the issue, however that was to no avail as I received no response. |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Hi Frals, I think the new version has some definite issues, are you working on fixing the issues or should we try to revert to the version 1.3.0.
Thanks |

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
can we send more than one picture at a time? And can we send other files through fmms other than pictures?
|
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I would be happy to be able to send anything at all thru fMMS :(

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I have tried sending other files other than pictures and unfortunately it hasn't worked for me despite many attempts. Also, the number of characters is limited to eleven so it means me sending both a pic and an sms message which wastes time. Other than that, fMMS is pretty good.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and can anyone please help with resolving it? |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I can no longer use fMMS to send pictures, all i get is a 503 services unavailalbe. I can recive messages but not send them.
I'm using Telenor SE and havn't changed any settings from when it was working. Edit: Got it working now with the new version |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Updated today and it all went to hell.
Tracked it down to fMMS connecting to another connection. Little bugger tries to connect to wifi in polite and rude, and, in havoc, opens the secondary connection but binds to wifi. I managed to send a MMS by disabling auto-connect, setting it to prompt, then moving fMMS to rude. When sending (connecting), Maemo pops the "to what the hell" window and I select "MMS" AP and it all works. If I don't, it just tries to connect and fires up the wifi (doesn't even ask). If auto-connect is set to "any", trying to send a MMS links up wifi and the whole thing fails. It was working before the update. Am I the only one? |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Hi Frals,
Something I noticed which you may be able to work on when you have the time. I can send an MMS to multiple recipients. After sending, only one recipient is listed if I go back into fmms later (the last one if I remember correctly) but all receive the MMS. Version 1.3.3 of fmms. Thanks |

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Trying to send a photo while connected to T-Mobile USA 3G, while 'sending' it kills the connection almost immediately. Then I get the sending failed message. If I let it kill the connection, I then reconnect manually, it sends. Not a terrible workaround, but I remember the good old days when fMMS used to connect to the internet automatically, send the pic, then disconnect. It was perfect.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Hi, is anyone having this problem?? i have fmms installed. My cell phone plan gives me 5 free mms per month, when ever i try to send an mms everything seems fine, the mmsc responds ok and the mms is discounted for my plan and everything, but the message never reaches its destination. However when a mms is sent to me i receive it without any problems. In a nut shell i can receive but i cant send.
Any ideas?? |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
For me the last release working perfectly even with hebrew text... thanks Frals.

Was a fix ever found ? Just to re-iterate: I'm on Vodafone Australia. 1. Send and recieve MMS to Vodafone users works. 2. Receive MMS from Optus works. 3. Send to Optus, fails, the message is never received. 4. Send to Optus, works, if there is no attachment, meaning just some text. A friend also on Vodafone Australia can send the same pic to the same Optus user successfully via his iPhone. Have used all pic sizes in fMMS and even used very small pic down to 35Kb, still no go. Rang Vodafone and they said all is set correctly on their end. |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
Does anyone know how to go about deleting MMS messages, I can read them but do not see any way to delete.
Thanks |

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
How do I prevent the N900 automatically using the "MMS" apn for a regular data connection?
I have an N900 on vodafone UK. MMS is working. But it uses a different configuration to my regular clean access point "vodafone internet gprs" which is a different APN I have the phone set to automatically connect to wifi or 3G & have lots of data applications. Currently the phone has a tendency to want to connect to MMS rather than "vodafone internet gprs". I have no idea how to configure the priority or whether I can enable/disable autoconnect of specific APs Currently fmms is set to "rude" |
Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900
I have two questions:
- I sent an mms to 3 people but in sent mms I am able to see only the last one, is it corrected? is there a way to see the others? - is it possible to implement a function that works in gallery? when I choose an image I am able to sent via mail, via bt and I'd like to sent via mms.. |
