Marxian, thank you so much for the video app, its ridicolously awesome. Its basically ninjadragonawesome.

If you made a damn wallpaper and put it on nokias store for 10 euro id buy it just in support.

Well played, Gerkin.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

I just added a video file in the video folder but it isnt showing up the the video application. Its not HD not an unusual format, is there something I need to do, scan or something?
Thanks

PS Got to say the N9 is far buggier than I expected from the reviews, random slowdowns and times when you are navigating through options and its a an annoyance getting back - eg no back option. Lets hope the firmware update improves it..

PPS Now all of my music files and video files have dissappeared for no reason - they are on the mass storage but the apps arent picking them up. wtf??? Its like the N900 all over again. Jesus, Nokia.

It's possible to sync the N9 with the earlier version of Ovi Suite (version 3.0.0.290).

1. Delete existing versions of Ovi Suite

2. Download the 3.0.0.290 version (you can get it from here, but you will need to unzip the file ... http://www.4shared.com/file/NEaBJnfo...te_300290.html

3. Make sure you "save" and do not run the file.

4. Once downloaded, disconnect from the internet.

5. Install Ovi suite.

6. Once installed (still disconnected from the internet), connect your N9. Sync the phone and ensure that your uncheck automatic updates for Ovi suite in settings. Look in Sync, Sync options.

You're ready to go, and can re-connect ! Enjoy. :)

Any way to change or remove the operator bootscreen video yet? Damn telenor-blob spinning my phone into gear when I boot up is annoying the crap out of me :|

For Navifirm, mentioned in the article, I went here: http://www.symbian-toys.com/navifirm.aspx#download

I am trying this now and am very hopeful, while doing the coldflash I get a message that my battery is at 0% 11% required I had it plugged into my computer all night, I have switched it to charging from the wall for a few hours to see if that helps.

I did however get these messages:

trying doing through root?

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

I was rooted, the file got moved, but the messages appeared nonetheless. I assume the operation that failed was preserving ownership and permissions since the file was moved, and not the moving of the file in itself.

Calendar on N9 is like someone is making a Joke of me!!!Yust My opinion!
1. I miss a lot a desktop calendar widget.
2. In a month view there is only a little dot under day, so You have to goto day to see event.
3. On my N9 is no week view.
4. Smart Birthday is NOT WORKING!!!

After such a good phone as N900 is N9 disappointment for me after a week. BUT. I'm waiting for YOU and Your excellent work to make it better!!!

And one more thing:
Weather! Disaster! if I want to see weather right now I cant look outside and not tiny icon on main screen. On N900 I had 6 days icons on main screen.

P.S It seems that the task switcher forces applications into portrait mode. At least, I haven't found a way to override it.

I would like to enable YouTube video links to be launched in cuteTube, but I'm not sure if it's possible. You can change/add mime-type associations, but I'm not sure if it's possible to use a regex (i.e. check if the url is a YouTube video link). It's something I will at least look into. :) The clipboard feature was something I provided in lieu of that, with the advantage that it allows to you to copy several videos at a time.

http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/unsta...50ZW50YWN0aW9u

For the mime type issue.

Untested, by the way.

Disaster? Jesus christ dude... Just tap the icon and there you go. If you really have such a desperate need to know what weather there will be 3 days from now that you cant even tap an icon, i really fear you need an absurd ammount of help.

Look, you knew the OS wasnt based on widgets. What did you expect?

Of course, it WOULD be cool if tapping the weather icon gave a dropdown list on the feedscreen itself showing the weeks weather, and doubletapping lauched the app, but... not a big deal for me. If I wanted widgets Id keep my SGS2.

It works fine even if Ovi/Nokia Suite is updated after connecting N9 to Suite 3.0. Or at least it worked with 3.2 Beta.

MyDocs is vfat partition, just to make mass storage work on Windoof.
On vfat there are no ownership/permissions. Therefore on attempt to set one of those the application (here mv) gets an error.

I'm seeing updates for different apps in the Nokia store, but the phone doesn't give me an update message on the event screen.. even when I go to "manage applications" and I search for updates, nothing is found and it tells me that the phone is up to date.

How can i check if the script is running?
I can update the apps by visiting the store, but I can't always do it manually..

Um...no. If you tap on the dot/day, while in the month view, you get half the screen dedicated to the events on that day - without switching to the day view.

But, I'm guessing you already knew that.

I miss the calendar widget also - but I knew it wasn't there going in. Who knows, maybe there'll be an update that will bring upcoming events to the notifications screen.

I have the same problem, I did the tracker reset to see if it would fix some album art issues (which it did) and I lost my contacts and text messages. It seems like its unstable now, sometimes my contacts go missing. My Music is also not accessible....

By the way, what I meant by my contacts being unstable is I can sync it back from Google but it may go missing after a reboot. If anyone knows what is going on I'd appreciate it.

leave the weather app open. In the multitasking view the next days are nicely visible (even better in 2x2 mode)

That is a T-Mobile USA issue, it has been always the case with unlocked phones on T-Mobile USA network, even though you set a certain limit on the pictures it gets re-sized to unbearable quality. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do about it. Even using the N900 was the same issue with me, calling their tech support is not worth the time. But now I have switched and been happy to get the 3.5G coverage and no issue with MMS.

I had my fingers, eyes and legs crossed today....as Ovi Suite forced me to update to the latest official version (3.2.100). But, you're right, it still works (provided you first download and sync to the earlier versions). :)

Who needs Nokia Link ? :)

Btw, I take no credit, I found the solution at this Whirpool thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum...t=1794815&p=50

Frak. I'm losing more information. Feeds are gone. Music is still not available, I'm going to try to remove it and resync back.

Sigh.

I also removed Netview as that's the only other change I can think of.

PS After I did a tracker-control --hard-reset the symptoms didn't present itself right away.

Purged my Music and reset the dbs again. resync'd my music and it seems to be alright... I haven't lost my contacts after a few reboots so I'm hoping that stays.

The only remaining problem is when I added my feeds back in, if I refresh from the homescreen it sticks on refreshing more feeds than I have (old+new)... I'm not sure how to reset that.

*EDIT* Looks like I figured out how to reset the ghost feeds.

Renamed ./.config/feedreader/eventssubscriptions.conf to eventssubscriptions.conf.old

I'd rather just use media monkey to sync music with my N9. It works beautifully and since mine is the paid version I can volume level the tracks to make them louder.
The rest just copy and paste.

I'm not sure, but if it doesn't even have the images in the gallery, then I would think that's a red flag, what region did you buy it from?

There was a solution in this thread I believe. IIRC, you had to change your connection to Wifi and then, and only then, open up to download the maps.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

AFAIK reflashing gives you the images and videos. I think it has been reset from the settings menu. That removes the videos etc. My guess is they played with it somewhere and then reset it.
