After this update I was finally able to sync the phonebook, and server setting is finally staying there, but the rest is still confirmed:
- messages received only at startup, then nothing until disconnect/reconnect or close/reopen
- none of the messages I send are received by my contacts, ever
- list of group participants stuck at "fetching"

@coderus
I understand you can't reproduce these bug, but I'm reporting nevertheless. If you want I can also try to send you logs with the new version, let me know.

I have the same problems on WiFi and 3G, no change between the two.

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

I have huge amount of logs already, but logs contains nothing suspicious. It's something related to protocol and sockets.

everything seems to work fine here

Maybe just a problem for new accounts on device?

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

The delay problem MIGHT be solved with the new version.
I'm saying MIGHT because it has worked fine from time to time before, so I'll check a few times and if it stays fine, I'll report in the Bugtracker thread.

Another thing I noticed:
I have selected "always online". I can see myself as online on my PC, but when I close Mitakuuluu, my status changes to "last seen". Connection still works fine, I get all messages. When I open Mitakuuluu again, I am *still* shown as not online, even when I write with my PC account. I have to change setting to "always offline" and back to "always online" and then I'm correctly shown as online again.

But that's a minor problem, I usually have Mitakuuluu always open, anyway.

I had this problem also with the account I set when I first installed Mitakuuluu at its very first release, so I don't think that's the situation (at least not for me).

My sent messages were not being received also on 0.1-31, but since that version was really buggy (connect-disconnect loop etc.) I thought that was the cause.

Forgive my ignorance: this means that it's something you still can investigate and try to solve, or that it is out of your reach?

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

in android whatsapp, I set the last seen to nobody, it saved in whatsapp server, because of this, so Mitakuuluu startup conflict with that setting?

coderus 2014-03-20 15:06

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

yes whatsapp privacy settings saved on server

When I get a notification, it says "%1 messages unread", while 'Show messages in notifications' is enabled. Anyone else experiencing this bug?

New version seems to work much better. No reconnection issues so far. Thanks!

TMavica 2014-03-21 06:25

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

Finally I solved all the sync and receive message only startup problems, it because the last seen .
If you used android whatsapp before, and set the last seen of time, status, picture to 'Nobody', then when you use Mitakuuluu, then you will get those sync and receive message problem.

It is a must to set those last seen setting to 'Everyone' in android whatsapp before setting up Mitakuuluu!
Now I have no any problems with Mitakuuluu!

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

I might have another issue, though I want to do a few more tests before submitting it to bugtracker... perhaps anyone here has a similar experience?

When I woke up this morning, I tested Mitakuuluu by sending a message from my PC. It didn't arrive. In my PC Whatsapp, the "last seen" time was somewhere around 3:40am. (I had gone to bed around 9pm yesterday, Jolla was on the charger.)
The Jolla worked normal, internet connection was fine. Mitakuuluu claimed to be "logged in". When I sent message from Mitakuuluu to my PC, it didn't arrive.
Solution was to manually disconnect and re-connect Mitakuuluu, after that everything was fine again.

Could it be deep-sleep-related? Does the phone go into deep sleep while on the charger?
Edit: Apparently not: "Device doesn't go to suspend state if you keep it on usb cable"

i've also seen this behaviour with my jolla. when it's on the cable, i receive every message no matter how long i'm "inactive". but if the jolla is inactive for about 1 hour and not connected with cable then i have to manually reconnect to receive messages.

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

I'm trying out right now if setting suspend mode to "early" helps. Supposed to eat more battery, but it's more important to me to be available. So far I've been out of the house one time and came back and Jolla managed the switch to mobile and back to wifi without any kind of problem. That might mean nothing, as sometimes it works fine and sometimes not, but maybe there is also a connection between the suspend mode and the reconnect-problems. We'll see.

Edit: Looks like it eats ~25% battery in 2 hours. I would have been OK with having to charge every evening (doing that anyway), but this might be too much.

Haven't been able to download v0.2-2. Do I have to uninstall v0.1-31 to do so?

Reading comments about Mitäkuuluu I have totally opposite experience. No problems what so ever. Battery usage is the same, etc...

Thanks Coderus!

Re: [v0.2-2] Mitakuuluu - indie WhatsApp client for Sailfish - Support thread

Just installed v0.2-2

New cover is awesome. Thanks coderus.

Nevertheless I observed some minor bugs:

1. Downloaded profile pictures are now saved to /home/nemo/Whatsapp/
2. Downloaded pictures from messages are saved to /home/nemo/Whatsapp/Pictures

Something seems to be messed up here. Before all pictures were saved to /home/nemo/Pictures/Whatsapp.
On the other hand there is now a special entry called "Mitakuuluu" in the Galery app. Maybe this intentional then :)

But all pictures in the new folder /home/nemo/Whatsapp are not recognized by the people app. So you can not use them as a contacts avatar picture. Copying them to /home/nemo/Pictures solves this.

did you notice some other things with your investigations?
25% battery in 2 hours is truly way to much...
is there a bugtracker post with this problem?

Can someone please tell me the prefix number of the registration sms? I suspect, that it is currently being blocked by my provider, and I don't want to blindly enable stuff.
