So I was bored at work and used to like this wallpaper, so did a little work to make it fit and look decent on the n900 screen.
Doubt anyone will be picking it up and trying to steal it once they look at the screen. :)

ehm... why don't you edit your grid-size?
it's 4px by default but you can easily set this value to anything you want.
the file which you have to edit is already mentioned in this thread.
if you don't want to edit files on your own - get "tweakr".
this app is in devel-rep and allows you to change your grid-size to which the icons will snap. additonally this app is for storing self-made profiles.
(the last version had a bug which forced the phone to stuck in a reboot-loop. (that's why it's in devel). but it's fixed in the latest version.)

aaaah... what i actually wanted to do... show you my last mod of the sms-voncersation view:
1. added own avatar (in the IM conversations it's already there)
2. aligned it left from own bubble
3. moved contact's avatar to the right side
4. indented the contact's bubble to get it in line with my own bubble
