For instance, I almost never overclock as I don't think it will gain much. I only overclock when I try to shoot a 720p video and some emulator, like dosbox. Generally 750 is safe, but every frequency you will go higher can reduce your CPU lifespan drastically. The SoC found in the N900 is meant to run at 500mhz, Nokia already overclocked it to 600mhz.

So my advise is to leave it at 600mhz, *unless* you really need more cycles for eg gaming. For general use it isn't recommended, of course you can decide yourself to run fulltime on higher frequency and some here also do that, so I don't say it is dangerous but 1 thing is sure, higher frequencies can/will decrease the lifespan of the cpu.

said in so simple words....i respect it..thanks a lot....i understand...
only when i do hard gaming or such stuff i would use 800MHz.
or else leaving it at
min-250
max-550
ok?not even 600.....

BTW why is my settings icon taking 3 taps to open???

I only use OC for Easy Debian :) This is one more situtation when OC is nice.

Nah, 550 would hurt performance, Nokia isn't stupid so I guess they didn't pick the 600 random ;)

Just press once and wait, also make sure you press the button right; I caught myself "miss"pressing icons sometimes and nothing happens. Also settings app sometimes have to load for 1-3 seconds

@marmistrz: Well, you get the idea ;)

Well, Nokia is stupid. Who clever would (try to) kill Maemo/MeeGo? :)

Nokia is stupid now, at times when designing the n900, they weren't stupid ;)

This is my first deb package, be careful. It installs and works perfectly on my phone, so enjoy but be warned ;)

As for now, the modified script is working with both stock and power kernel v50. I'll look at kp51 now.

So I'd like to know if the patched QCPUFreq works ok with KP51 and later. Thanks!

Seems to work ok. Overclocked step by step to 1150 and no crash. So it should be ok. You might try 1000 & SR to check if it'll be better

I believe your not supposed to use frequencies over 900 with SR. It's not stable on all devices.

Just read the wiki, but is that info correct?

Wasn't that problem independant from frequency? I used to have trouble with SR on one of my machines, but after KP50 it never gave me any trouble again. Than again, I never OC above 900 anyway.

Wiki is correct AFAIK.
There is also the other issue of not using custom voltage profiles with SR on. Custom profiles "Undervolting" are considered "legacy method" and shouldn't be used with SR on.
