Still, Personally, I like the leaking method samsung is using. They have not been leaking firmwares only after missing their own deadline, but far before. When I had the N900, and was waiting and waiting and waiting for PR1.2, It was a nightmare for me. Eventually 1 leaked version came around, when we flashed it, it rendered the phone unflashable to PR1.1, and soon enough we started getting warnings about flashing releaked firmwares cause it violates all sort of ********. Regarding the other poster about the build quality, Again, as we are in a thread called N900 vs Galaxy S. Galaxy S does feel cheap, plasticy, fragile. And yet, on my N900, ear-piece stopped working (used bt headset instead), USB port came out, (for me it just didn't charge right), Camera + flash was always HAZY till i used a marker to blackout the blue strips, screen was no where sensitive as a capacitive screen - now you will legitimetly claim : it's a resesetive screen, can you use a stylus on your Galaxy S? No! I can't, but that resesetive screen has NON-Linear pressure all over the place, MyPaint proved it so hard. My galaxy S already fell 3 times, with no shields or cases. it completely disassembled on impact, i put it back, and everything is perfect again. Nokia used to know what they are doing, and now they DONT. Everything takes them too much time, and eventually they just mess up. In my opinion, the only possible way to remedy the current status, is Nokia N9 + Meego 1.2 somewhere in late 2011 (after the app market actually works and developers can actually develop without having to e-mail ovi@support.com for every step in the process. Anyway, I think we chewed this aspect enough, and not saying my opinions fit everyones, but i'm sure some people would prefer the status with the galaxy S. |

Re: N900 vs samsung galaxy s
I know i'm raising a dead thread, but I don't feel like creating a new one just for this :
Some more things that I was missing from N900 on Galaxy S : - VNC server, found a free one on market that works perfect. - Found an FTP Server that works perfect - Found Overclocking capabilities to an already super fast phone. - All GPS problems have been fixed, and battery is insane in new ROM released by samsung with android 2.2.1. - Found some great apps to make Galaxy S camera into a wifi webcam (never found something like this on N900) I don't see any more Nokia in MY personal future :0 |

If i'm only on wifi + 3g for voice calls about 2 days. If i limit it to 2g + wifi, it's almost 4 days. Webcam apps : droidcam ; ip webcam I'm running android 2.2.1 JPU firmware + voodoo lagfix 5.0.2, So there is NO lag that the galaxy s is notorious for. |
