Anyone willing to create a service that'd notify you of patches before trying to update. Instant donation :D

I do that to, almost every time.
It would be so easy to fix. One line of text at the phone update page, is all it takes. Like "Did you unapply patches?", or similar.

Does anyone actually read " Are you sure?" prompts? ;)

Probably not that many, but this specific update screen is fairly empty as is, so you wouldn't really have to "read" it to get noticed. I'm sure it would work as a reminder for those who need it.

Jolla shouldn't have to bother informing users about third party scripts that will cause trouble with those third party scripts. Even so, they do, it's always mentioned in the release notes.

With all due respect, HtheB, if you go down to that level then you should really know what you are doing ;)

Of course it is not something Jolla should do. These are third party patches. The propositions were about third party solutions, either a service or even a patch with some warning.

I think even a relatively simple patch could work here just fine.

You are right, and I am not suggesting they should. I think it's a task for patchmanager developer to make that warning appear when installing patchmanager. Or maybe someone could write a patch... :p

It's not about not knowing what you are doing. It's about that everything's just working so smooth, day after day, that you actually forget that you once did patch the thing.

If they do that next update you will say. "Why can't the upgrade tool remove the patches before upgrade"
