I called them again. The customer support reps are really full of *****. They are dishonest and it makes Dell look like a terrible company. I gave them one of the order #'s of someone who has the N900 and ordered 11/19 (I ordered 11/5). He tried to imply that people were lying about getting upgraded to free shipping or receiving their shipment before me. I told him if they are lying why does the order show in Dell support as delivered. Then he told me they are investigating. These are terrible business practices. Everyone is getting different stories and these reps are outright scumbags.

right? they are constantly giving us the run around with all this bull. if they dont want to ship our orders then cancel the damn order instead of dangling it in front of us.

somedude, did you ever get your shipping confirmation from Nokia? I'm still waiting on mine, but hopefully it goes out today.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Oh, the irony:

SEPTEMBER 3 - Ordered from Nokia US online for $725 (phone + headset + tax), told by CSR via chat "You're the first person in the US to buy this..." and phone will arrive by end of September.

SEPTEMBER 29 - Nokia shifts date, while Amazon offers discounted price. Canceled Nokia order and re-ordered from Amazon for $625 (phone + tax).

NOVEMBER 5 - Canceled Amazon order and re-ordered with Dell at lower price of $488 (phone + tax)

NOVEMBER 30 - No word from Dell; phone in stock at Nokia US online. Ordered from Nokia US online for $625 (phone + tax + shipping).

TODAY: Nokia reports phone shipped; FEDEX confirms delivery tomorrow by 3pm. Still no word from Dell.

So after all the hype, all the re/ordering, and 3 months of hitting F5 on Talk.Maemo.Org all day long, I get the phone direct from Nokia within 48 hours of ordering at the original price (minus the headset I didn't need).

I imagine tomorrow it will all feel like it was worth the wait...;-)

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I'm still going to give Dell until the end of the week and if the shipping date changes at that point then I'm going to order from Nokia. I'm assuming that if Dell really can't get any that they are just stringing us along by keeping the 12/10 or whatever date in early December to keep us on. They'll have to change it by the end of this week since I ordered standard shipping and it will push it past the 10th if they ship it next week. Don't really want to pay the extra $100 though for it...but I won't be waiting until February that's for sure.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

My expected delivery date is the 10th and I have the free 5-7 day shipping. If Dell doesn't ship it by the 3rd, I'm calling and demanding free overnight shipping.

If I'm refused, then I'm cancelling. I can't afford the $470 price I bought it for, let alone anything higher from nokiausa or anywhere else.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Ya, I ordered from Nokia yesterday and it's already on its way with a scheduled delivery of tomorrow (just in time for my 30th b-day, woohoo!). I'm wondering if Nokia is purposely delaying the Dell (and other vendor) shipments since other retailers have been selling the N900s at a lower price than Nokia. So in order to push them at a higher price from their own store, they're waiting to release the orders to 3rd party retailers. That might also explain Nokia's recent price cut. Just a thought...

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I am just going to wait for as long as i can because in this economy a hundred dollars is a lot. I had placed an amazon order mid sept if i had stuck it out with amazon i would be out sixty dollars but i would of recieved my phone already.

What gets me is Nokiausa has stock available, Dell is the supposed direct seller than why have our orders not shipped yet?

That is exactly what I think is happening. I smell a big fat rat!!!

Somedude got his from Nokia almost immediately:
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...3&postcount=14

I too was on the phone with Dell yesterday. I wanted an explanation for why orders that were placed after mine were shipped already. They explained to me how it works. Basically, as an order is placed with Dell, it is automatically sent to Nokia for fulfillment. They had no explanation as to why Nokia chose to ship some orders before the older ones. That is still a mystery. Unfortunately, there appears to be no way to get to the bottom of it. Without legal action that is.

If someone inside Nokia can provide evidence of foul play things can get ugly, but it would be much appreciated.

I have had zero reboots or mic issues others have posted, but the GPRS radio and wifi are either buggy, or they cut the mW output on both to conserve battery power. Weak.

With all the negative reports about the mic, rebooting, battery life - on top of the horrible customer service from Dell its getting very tempting to cancel the N900.

I'm assuming that's for new orders which would make some sense. I really hope that lead time isn't applying to pre-orders that have been in the system for almost a month now...

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

She's probably just quoting the 6 week lead time on their product page.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I wonder if the change in stated delivery time from "3-5 days" to "5-7 days" for ground orders is a byproduct of a decision they made to use the next batch to fulfill orders throughout the country rather than only to orders going to the region around the distribution center that gets the batch like last time.

Dell Should Push Nokia to send them out already. I do not know what is going on...

if dell doenst ship on the 8th...
ima think twice... its to long for a wait... and especially pre-orders...

why have pre-orders when your not geting it like a special pre-order item... SUCKS!!

Its tempting, if it doesn't ship by Dec 10th it might be worth waiting a few months until these hardware(or software) issue with reboots/mic is sorted out

I ordered last week and mine is still "In Production." Today is the magical December 2nd date some have said Dell will ship. Then there's December 4th as well.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

I think Nokia is purposely holding them back. I've read countless posts from people stating they canceled their order with Buy.com/Amazon, and ordered direct from NokiaUSA...and their device was shipped immediately and received in a few days.

It's the Kindle / Nintendo Wii approach....make the product in high demand by having limited stock, and delays in shipping. Always claim it's backordered and sold out, and POOF, instant product success like the Wii and Kindle.

Hm, there might be something to this. I had 2 day shipping and the cs rep I am corresponding through email with incorrectly stated my shipping was 3-5 days, I had to correct him.

There hasn't been alot of activity in this thread because calling them is frustrating and pointless, they just read off the screen and have zero information to provide thats meaningful. I really think Nokia is screwing with us, there is no shortage I mean they have stock and are able to sell it at a discounted price, they are just withholding stock and making preorders unneccasarily wait.

My guess is this is not intentional but simply because supply chains don't run backwards. There was an allocation to various distributors and the one that distributes the nokiausa online orders simply isn't exhausted yet and there is no mechanism for that stock to be pushed backwards up the supply chain so that it can come back down to the other distributors (for dell, buy.com, whoever).

Perhaps the reason there is available stock for nokiausa.com at all is because its allocation was based on # of original nokiausa preorders, and we all know how many of those were lost due to all of their problems (them switching to new system, invalidating orders with bluetooth headsets, valid credit cards getting declined, their fraud system screwing lots of people over, their pricing not being competitive, etc.. )

Is it possible that there was just one original batch that came by air freight and that the second wave is waiting on shipment by sea? And anyone who currently has stock simply hasn't yet sold their allotment from the original batch for whatever reason...

found this on howardforums. Not advertising just trying to provide info.

Well we managed to get our back order on Nokia N900 today and it will arrive tommorrow. Let us know if you are interested. Some guys in this post are right abt nokia holding the stock and is not letting dealers sell it . Only nokia Flagships got exclusive.
We have a very limited qty for that reason.
you can view it here.

I was actually told by one of the many Dell Reps I spoke to on basis on not getting mad or reporting him that the reason my order did not ship compared to an order shipped after me was that My price was too cheap and the other order was full price.

I was dumbfounded....

On the other hand amazon gave me a price difference for two items that were not even the same:

regular ps3 game and collectors edition of the same game...

I dont know what to make of it?

This is the response I got from my dell rep im corresponding with;

I am actually tracking your order since yesterday.

Based from the information that was emailed to me last time by the expedite department, the estimated ship delivery will be on 12/04.

But now, the estimated delivery that is showing in our records indicates that the estimated delivery date will be on 12/09.

I am trying to get in touch to the other department who handles expedite.

I will give you feedback within the day..

I will post again when I get feedback.
