Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
tried to connect to my exchange 2007 after the two new updates. i get the following errors:
"system error on exchange server"..........this error flashes and disappears "error in communication with exchange server"......this error stays on. Is provisioning still an issue after the two new updates? |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Yes, the provisioning requirements are unchanged by these updates.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
when will that resolve so i can use this device instead of my E71?

I did not at all feel attacked, and I did not in any way mean to blame you for this. If any, I blame marketing :) But either way, my post might have been a little harsh (I blame that on my English skills, it was not intended to sound like I accused you (or anyone, really). I just disagreed :) Either way, with todays update, I'm a very happy fish! Great work! :) Thanks. |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
As far as I know, it's not currently planned for implementation. There also doesn't look to be a bug raised for this, so perhaps you should start there.

Guess this 'provision device' seting on the server needs to be sorted. Shame as all the iphone users get corporate email on their devices and im still waitin for my nice N900 :( They have the same settings on their mailboxes as i do. Anyway my company is going over to Googlemail corporate in March this year so if it dont get fixed i should be ok in a few months :P |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
vitaly knows about this issue as many of us on exchange 2007 have complained about it

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Hi all
A quick post to thank Vitaly for his efforts. My n900 now syncing with corporate exchange 2003 server and syncing email and calendar with no problems. Thankyou very much! cheers swst |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
1.1 update works perfectly and quickly with my corporate Exchange 2003 (sorry, I will make it change soon for a __real__ & __open__ server :-).
I'll burn a candle for vitaly_repin who was a real angel. Communication is the key ! Million thanks. D. |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Thanks, Vitaly - mail syncs perfectly now with 2003.
I cannot get my exchange calendar to sync from my server to the n900. Any advice? The only thing that has happened is my exchange calendar pulled events from my N900 and then deleted them from my N900 calendar. Any advice? |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
i am jealous........cant use my corporate email....

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
is there any chance someone can please tell me how i could sync with our office ms exchange 2003 server? i've downloaded our (selfmade) certificate from the http frontend and installed latest firmware.. still getting the not valid or disabled response on secure connection and server error response on unsecure. most members here use crApple iPhone and that works perfectly. if its up to our admin to change something on the server side please let me know.
Thanks! |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Hello Vitaly
First of all, let me thank you for your efforts; I have been monitoring this thread while waiting for the new firmware. You seem to invest a lot of passion and it has to be mentioned that this is much appreciated! I reported bug 7513 because the sync process failed even though we are running Exchange 2007. It works properly now, thank you! Matt |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
I have setup mfe again again and again, and yes something is wrong. I can receive mail, but i cant reply/send any mail. I try send Now and send next sync but still no. Calendar sync but still giv error. Hope fix come out soon.
|
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
am not sure if this was raised before but them MFE doesn't allow to add a calendar invite and from the calendar application there's no such option.
how are we supposed to create a meeting and then invite somone to it? previously N97 had at least the option of sending it as an sms. |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
CAN some one please post the settings for MFE for exchange 2003 on the n900.
I am having trouble receiving emails. After the PR1.1 upgrade can I get email notifications for incoming emails ? right now I am not getting any notifications until I sync up. Also, all "accept" responses to meeting invitations seem to have Recepient Field empty. Please HELP!!! maemosub |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
so i updated my N900 to the new firmware ... now i'm curious how the exchange server 2003 has to be configured to get MfE working?
we're running Exchange 2003 SP2, there are no mobile services yet configured (tried with colleague's iphone, doesn't work either ...) ... we can access via Webaccess, but that's it ... on the n900 i'm getting the infamous "requires secure connection or account disabled" message ... the certificate from webmail is installed on device for email (and is shown in the certificate manager) So maybe there's a tutorial somewhere out there? would be much appreciated ;o) |

Now for the wishlist of much needed additional functionality for MfE: - Calendar Appointment participant list (now you cannot see who are participants of an appointment) - Accept / Tentative / Decline / Propose new time replies for Appointments - Support for Private / Public Appointments |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
New email notification still leads to a blank email instead of the new one

Edit: installed as server-certificate, still the same error message ... connected via Wifi, so firewall-settings do not apply 2nd edit: so now i added the certificate exported from Internet Explorer (first one was the one i created for webaccess) and got one step further ... selected "synchronise emails" and then i get "Error communication with Exchange server" but at least it's a new problem ;o) |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
according to this link i asked our admin to set the exchnage server to the right settings but they already were like this.
when i try to open the downloaded certificate from documents with certificate-manager there is no option to install it, i only get details on it. after reading the wiki page from vitaly i googled how to install a self-signed certificate on n900 but all i get were threads on the nokia forum with people having the same problem.. also the linked pages to this forum couldnt solve the problem that the certificate is not listed in the certificate-manager and as i already said i dont have the option to install it. when i browse to the http-frontend of the exchange server on the device i get a message that the site is trusted and can login.. so i guess its the problem with the non-listed certificate in the manager. can anybody please tell me how i can install it ? |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
To install a certificate you should just need to "launch" (douple tap) it from File Manager. The only certificates with can be imported are CA certificates though, which self-signed ones aren't usually - you'll need to create one specially with the CA flag set.
|
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
i've read this already somewhere and i tried it.
i exportet the certificate though firefox as a .pem file (i dont know what its called in english, my admin said its the 2nd available file format in the exporting dialog that should have that CA flag).. but the .pem file is still marked on the device with a questionmark and when i double click it i only get the details from it and its not listed in cert-manager.. is there anything i could have done wrong while exporting or something ? |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
To check whether it's a CA certificate, look at the certificate in Firefox. In the Certificate Fields, look for the Extensions section and the Certificate Basic Constraints field. If you select that, it should say "Is a Certificate Authority".
To Export from Firefox I think you just want the single certificate (not the chain). It should work by just exporting the very top certificate in the hierarchy, but may require each of the CAs in the hierarchy exporting separately. |
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
ok it seems that we dont have a CA certificate.. so i guess its up to the sysadmin to create one if i want to use MfE or is there any other solution?
|
Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
From what has been said here, a certificate requires the CA flag in order to import into the Certificate Manager, and without a valid loaded CA certificate for a secure site, MfE won't work.

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
As a side note:
Could somebody who feels confident enough please check http://wiki.maemo.org/Mail_for_Exchange and make required changes to reflect the status of PR 1.1? I wanted to edit the compatibility section today, which still lists is not compatible: "Microsoft Exchange 2003 (is supported in the first MfE update which is not available for public yet)" After reading this thread I decided not to touch the page, though, as some users still report problems, I don't have access to any Exchange server myself and maybe it's better overall if somebody does it who know what he/she writes about. ;) |

Re: Mail for Exchange (MfE). Blame me here, pls
Is the 2009.51.1 compatible with MfE server 2003?
It can be downloaded now. Atleast for me, it solved my communication problems. Next problem is that the actual MfE is a bit crappy. Somekind of a Mfe type Widget is needed to allow quick looking of the mails. I'm a bit surprised since I didn't find any widget for this. I mean come on, even crappiest cell phones which are capable of showing email have this ability. You know, phone is always showing the few recent mails. In this way you can instantly see if there's any mail for you. With the n900 MfE you'll have to A) keep the email SW running ALL the time (at least I didn't find alternative solution) B) open software EVERY time when you want to see if you have mail. |
