Just wondering, given all the impatience - do any of the ranting people actually know what is in the update, or is it just an excuse to troll and flame?
It is quite an exciting update, and I am wondering if the video calling includes skype and gtalk - I hope both.

I wouldn't be so radical. Just remember that early adopters for any kind of gadget are impatient by definition!! And the impatience is surely not driven by this thread, it would happen anyway...

You say "get a life", and I don't totally disagree. But why are you criticizing people for that? Why do you bother so much???

Each person defines its own priorities and choose whether having sleepless nights over or use the available time for something else. Your comment won't change anything about that...

I do. Because at the moment a feature that is important to me, that worked in the initial firmware release, and was broken by Nokia in PR1.1 is still broken on my device, despite being marked as fixed in bugzilla. Because thanks to Nokia's brain-dead 'QA' process my device is broken for absolutely no reason at all, and because I'd really rather they stopped it being broken sooner rather than later.

^^^ was said tongue in cheek. But 88 pages in and the hysteria over an update that noone has a clue about when it will land is quite hysterical.

Yes Nokia QA is pants. Sadly most of their latest devices have been released without much of it.

however these forums are turning into a playground where too much crap is discussed and not enough value can be found just because there is so much waste that the good stuff is sadly lost. I for one don't have time to plough through endless replies that add no value. Hence I am finding that I am loosing the will to frequent this site.

Just a personal view and sadly I will be attacked because of it.

I think some of the tags say it all!

I'm one of the impatient ones as well. I think these offtopic posts serve a purpose though (atleast for me). They introduce some friction sometimes that the more serious members tend to counteract and the entertainment value when this all happens is just classic which makes me temporarily forget about 1.2 while flying in my ROFLcopter.

So with that said, I want to thank you all the wonderful members of TMO.

Sadly, without a date/year tied to "Monday", I can guarantee that it will be released by SOME Monday midnight--just probably not one any time soon.

I have to say, i really don't understand why people are going mad waiting for this update. The device will be more or less the same with some tweeks, and people will most definitely be disappointed with it in the end.

That's is so untrue. It will be a whole different device. You will be able to press play on the media player widget and the track will start.

More or less the same? Are you crazy? It will transform...into..into..think of it as a pupa/cocoon stage of a butterfly turning into a full butterfly which can fly and fly and fly...it will be really nice. Simply PowerXtreme! This update will be gigantic, huge man, huge! Oh and welcome to the forum! :D

1) Video calls

2) lot of bugs related with video are fixed.

3) probably - some battery usage improvement.

4) better QT which is "optified" - more root FS space for applications.

Considering that QT is going to be part of Maemo proper, Qt will likely end up on the rootfs. Applications should be going in /opt regardless.

i want to ask people that ask why we spend too much time in this thread waiting for update. so if u don't how do u get here? maybe it's stupid in your opinion to wait for update and re-check the tread every minute. but isn't it more stupid to check the thread to even more often just to say we don't have life? if u don't care - just pass by and have a good day. but i think u care more than us.

The more you wait for something, the longer the wait feels. The more you wait for something, the more distorted your expectations become. This is why you're constantly dissapointed in releases, new gadgets etc. !

So calm down! And be realistic. PR 1.2 isn't going to be such a big of a deal. You won't feel that your phone is drastically better after you have your hands on it.

Hi! I have my own life, two beautiful kids, a wife, a job.... and all my day long I go to work.... living my life in my way.
But in the evening I check this topic hoping for good news, hoping that my phone for witch I worked day by day, in my regular life, will have his chance to please me more than my previous, a windows mobile one...

That's why I'm here with you guys! Ah! And because I wanna know what is the value of my bill, and because I'm tired to hear music after rejecting a call, and because of media player widget, and because I'm hoping that this update will give us really valuable applications on Ovi, and because I, like the others, need all the bug fixes and a permanently improved terminal. (because wtf!!! this is more expensive than a good laptop!!!)

That's what a guy without a life is doing!

And if you are not pleased with my english, maybe some romanian should do the trick, let's see how good you are...
