@No!No!No!Yes! thanks for the link. First i installed/downgraded QBW as pr. link you gave (1.3) and still the same problem. Then one after one i removed the updated packages i did today and rebooted in between and the problem went away when i uninstalled QBW 1.3.2. I'm not sure wether problem was an isořated on on my phone, that it did conflict with something? Or Theres just a bugg in the new version with the mediaplayer cause the other beecons worked without problems and the rotation/moving on dekstop aswell. Will try to install 1.3 again...

Please stick to QBW v1.3.2 if possible and report back if it could be the cause.

Sorry for the confusion, i've installed 1.3 again and to begin with it worked, but then when applying a speciffic beecon (QBW remembered all beecons from before, cool) it made a funny sound and that beecon messed up the mediaplayer? It was a play/pause beecon made with the fm transmitter code you gave shaz o.O I deleted it and all works again :D So no bug just a messed up beecon that used to work?

Will upgrade and see how it goes later tonight... Cheers ;)

e: Upgraded to 1.3.2 and everything is workig like a charm, so it was my beecon messing with mediaplayer for some reason? ;)

I like QBW and use it frequently for several widgets -- thanks a lot for it! To save some space, I have MiniMonitor disabled and it will only be enabled and restored to full size with a double tap.

Is there a similar action to disable the widget again? Disabling it again on double tap would be nice. Would be better than to start desktop configuration mode, configure widget, call enable/disable menu, set to "disable", save, quit desktop configuration menu.

Am I overlooking something? If not, I would highly appreciate such a quick-disable function. :)

By heart...

Enable [4] and [5]
http://wiki.maemo.org/images/thumb/f...px-Snap034.png

edit cmd and add this (very first position should be fine):
PHP Code:

...
if [
"$QBW_CLICKS_COUNT-gt 1 ]; then
   run
-standalone.sh dbus-send --session --type=method_call --dest=oh.no.more.qbw /oh/no/more/qbw<idXoh.no.more.qbw.sleep

exit 0
fi

where <idX> is the QBW Instance ID

Uhm ... never seen anything like this...
have you tried increasing widget height a bit and see if this fixes?
Could you post a full export of one of your desktop switch widgets?

It seems your beecon configuration is different from the one I posted, as you have setup images in cmd part of the settings and also image positioning is different
Try and change cmd image positioning (top center) settings and see if this fixes

You can't change the export data by hand.

Just stick to your modified settings and change [4] to Top Center

change the value to the desktop you wish to rotate. Also change the image names to the same desktop number.

although the code is somewhat "ugly" (sorry!). it's faster than a version i made with gconftool-2 which is less code. maybe i'll find a way to update the background image.

I surrender ... :D
My suggestion:
  • Reimport original beecon in new instance
  • Change divider for click detection according to needed desktops and desktop # parameter at header of command
  • Adapt relevant desktop image to number of needed desktops

Hi
I have made a simple QBW that sets the profile to Silent when the phone is placed face down (a bit like what the HTC Desire does) using $QBW_ORIENTATION_FACE.
Is there a way for this to function when the screen is locked?
Thx

Please elaborate further ...
QBW can monitor DBUS system/session events; these events are fired on the sys-dbus when slider is moved and phone goes LowPow
Code:

signal sender=:1.8 -> dest=(null destination) serial=20336 path=/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_slide; interface=org.freedesktop.Hal.Device; member=Condition
  string "ButtonPressed"
  string "cover"
signal sender=:1.12 -> dest=(null destination) serial=4505 path=/com/nokia/mce/signal; interface=com.nokia.mce.signal; member=display_status_ind
  string "dimmed"
signal sender=:1.12 -> dest=(null destination) serial=4506 path=/com/nokia/mce/signal; interface=com.nokia.mce.signal; member=system_inactivity_ind
  boolean true
signal sender=:1.12 -> dest=(null destination) serial=4508 path=/com/nokia/mce/signal; interface=com.nokia.mce.signal; member=tklock_mode_ind
  string "locked"
signal sender=:1.12 -> dest=(null destination) serial=4509 path=/com/nokia/mce/signal; interface=com.nokia.mce.signal; member=display_status_ind
  string "off"

maybe you can hook to some of this...

Thx NNNY. Will work through these and see what happens. QBW works great - having lots of fun making simple time savers for the desktop.

Ok calm down
I said sorry, I thanked you and I said, that your code is faster. I am still using your code, and I am still looking for a better way to achieve this. As I mentioned I changed your script to change the background via gconftool-2 (I'll post it if you want). It takes less file operation, but it is slower.

I don't know why my first posts should be smalltalk. Your idea is good, but the code is NOT! I had something to say, so I said it. I didn't want to offend you. If you are younger than 18 y i deeply apologize for my rude language. Otherwise behave like an adult.

Please explain why the code is not good, I'm not saying it is. It was a quick lash to prove a concept, but how is it bad in your view?

Here is my explanation:

The code seems to run quickly, if you compare two QBWs, one to print out the orientation and a second to copy the file and print the orientation they seem to run as quickly as each other. It’s just the background image takes time to be displayed, this is an OS issue.

My opinion about the delay is probably the operating system taking its sweet time to deal with the event caused by the change of the background image file. As Maemo seems slow at best to register an event I am assuming that this is the cause in the delay. You can also bet that even though the image doesn't need resizing to fit the screen it will be resized taking up yet more time.

I haven’t yet played around with symlinks to see if they are quicker. But if you check what gconftool does, you will find that it will first copy your chosen image to a temporary file, something like /home/user/.backgrounds/.goutputstream-GIHVLV, then it will then process it to correct any size issues, next it has to do a lot of processing to convert what it has created into a PNG file, something like /home/user/.backgrounds/background-4.png.bak, a slow process at best. At this point you are now at the same point where my code will start! gconftool will then delete the original file with a move where as I will delete the original with a copy, my way might take a little longer to do (we are talking milliseconds here).

I welcome constructive criticism, fire away, going blah doesn't help. Oh and - manners are for everyone not just for kids.

gconftool is definitely not the way to go as too much processing is involved, hence the 3 second delay with it.

Hope this explains things. Rant over, happy scripting. :)

Re: [Announce] Queen BeeCon Widget: Super powerful and customizable Widget Generation Engine - Official Thread

No!No!No!Yes!
While playing around with the orientation QBW I have noticed that the orientation event will sometimes stop, don't know why. If I create another orientation QBW the second one is un-effected as are all other QBWs.
If I enter the Advanced settings and press Run it will work correctly, also if I resize the QBW and press Save & Run it will not run nor will the resize setting get saved!
Hope this helps narrow it down.
My device has been recently reflashed with both images for PR1.3

Happened to me as well just today, played a bit (couple of days) and suddenly orientation change events seem not to be issued any more to QBW dbus connection/callback ... problem seems to have gone away with reboot.

Need some more explanation here... it means 2nd one works and others as well or none work any more?

Running beecon in this way, no $QBW_EXEC_REASON==QBW_ORIENTATION_MONITOR event will be triggered but only $QBW_EXEC_REASON==QBW_SETTINGS_SAVE_RUN event; $QBW_ORIENTATION_* variables will be however set as per any previous recorded phone orientation

This is the weirdest thing ... which seems not to be Orientation related ... are you saying that widget width&height settings are not changed and saved even if you modify them and press SAVE or SAVE&RUN?

What beecon are you using?

Reboot seems the only way to get it to work!

All other QBWs continued to work, admittiedly after the first orientation one failed I created the second orientation one which continued to work correctly
EDIT: while the first remained broken.

$QBW_ORIENTATION_MODE will correctly retrieve the device orientation each time you change devices position and press the Run button which is displayed in the Raw Output box.

Save&Run normaly will work but Save&Run did not save when the orientation error occured, Save always worked! Does the run command here share functions with normal QBW operation that are different to Advaned Settings -> Run

I havn't updated to the latest version as I think I saw someone having problems, so I'll be on the previous version. Can't tell you the exact version as the about box cuts off the full version number (text too large another bug), all I get is "Queen Beecon Widget 1."

Can anyone tell me the code for QBW to have 'general' profile, 'silent' profile, and OCing? Currently I use CMD but i prefer QBW because i can have the backgrounds transparent

LAstly, what about OCing? Is it the same again as is in CMD?

Can't really think of the problem here ... it seems offending instance got stuck in the middle of nowhere... and I'm unable to speculate further without logfile.
As per all these weird problems I assume it is not reproducible :confused: :(, I ask you if possible, next time it happens, to turn v4 verbosity on in Advanced Dialog Box and drop me the logfile after trying some of the weird thingies you were trying this time.

However, please do update to latest release 1.3.2 as problems Dousan reported seemed to be related to a buggy script and not to buggy widget (hopefully :D)

Text too large bug in About Box is fixed in 1.3.2

You may need to call the dbus command with
Code:

run-standalone.sh dbus-send --type=m...
Pop all your command into QBW and test to see if they work.

The Advanced settings have a multi line edit box which makes it much easier to edit your commands. QBW scripts are basically normal XTerminal scripts so you might find it easier to test in XTerminal, but the Advanced settings will also display the output if you press Run

Ok this one will be new to me, have seen it in the Wiki, am I correct in thinking that next time the orientation locks up, edit the same QBW and set V4 log, then play around with the same widget, saving/running it etc...

Verbosity is a global setting. Any beecon is ok to activate it globally. The rest is as you pictured!!!

Enjoy...
