Is it possible to install apps from the market with that?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
I just tried some of this out, is it just me.. or does the keyboard back light never go out ? =D
Update: After unplugging the USB adapter and putting the device to sleep It finally went off, but now its flickering on/off quickly in irregular intervals |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
the rd mode causes that its a cpu/hd access light,
and no the market wont work as i said in a post previous android doesnt know the keyboard is open so setupwizard wont complete |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
lol.. sorry about that .. in that case its perfect.. =)
I'm getting done with my exams tomorrow.. looking forward to helping with the project.. I am a close to useless computer science student :D! |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Now that dualboot it's parcaily working.. I think you should focus in geting mount de sd card, it will give us the posibility of install applications and utilise the media features of android

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
first of all thanks to dj_steve for the new rootfs and kernel.
i installed everything and rebooted my n900. got my bootmenu and choosed my android.ext.item. then got something weird on the screen. it's asking me " getbootstate: Invalid selection choose bootup option: 2) MMC 9) Start a shell. i tryed to enter numbers but it's impossible. does anyone have any idea what i could i've done wrong and tell me what to write in the ext.item to make sure i did it right. thanks |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
I did not realise it was a dual boot kernel!
Is it just a basic kernel or does it support Maemo OC? I'm not being greedy or anything, just trying to find out if I should flash back to TITAN's afterwards. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
i am unable to download the rootfs. when ever i try to download the file it just stops at some time around 15 mb. any there has got the same problem??
ok. finally i got it after 10 trys :) lets move to the next step. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
first of all, a big up to dj_steve for his good work!!!
I've just a couple of questions: how do you turn off your phone when it runs android? I used your last files and wifi does'nt seem to work with me. What do I have to check/do in order to make it work properly? Thanks again and keep going!!! Regards JackBoy |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
What a re your next goals?
Make the app market usable or phone or battery? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
you have to pull battery to power off at moment, wifi works for me after 2 reboots so id give that a try,
phone most likely as its the next logical step |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
hi dj_steve,
i have followed your steps from your video. i used gparted to make partitions, made 4 partitions for my 8gb. 2 for win, 1.8 for swap, 1.8 for ex3 and another 2 gb for ext3. extracted the rootfs in the last ext3 using the ubunto extraction. and varified the folders in my partition. when i boot the phone, i can only see booting from internal flash. dont see any option for booting the android. what i have done wrong? |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
as said you need bootmenu installed, but even then it wont boot as you have partitioned card incorrectly
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
@new_beee: you have to create a file named "android.ext.item", save this file in /etc/bootmenu.d/
edit this file and insert: Code:
ITEM_NAME="Android (external SD, partition 3)" At next boot, you will be able to choose android (unless I made a mistake!!:o) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Is a 4GB card big enough and is the image multi language or "only" English?
I have a 8GB card but I want to install MeeGo as well on it as soon as it is available so that I have three operating systems :) |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
ive seen someone get it going on a 512mb card so 4gb should be fine :) and i havent tried other langs but i suspect theiy will be their

Thanks JackyBoy,
I was missing those lines. finally its loaded. Thanks dj_steve for all that good work. next step is wifi. at the moment its not working. will try to reboot it couple of times as mentioned here. |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Which are the latest files ??? it needs to be organized ! can we maintain the wiki page on nitdroid.com ? Give the link Also .. In video u have filename with -DualBoot Suffix .. and in actual file is having not prefix .. its like NITDroid-0.0.3-Eclair-WiFi.tbz2 . Please clarify.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
after couple of boots it appears to be unresponsive, no side or top sliders available now. although the wifi signal appears to be changed. tried reboots but no change. just boots to the desktop and no response. long press of power button shows the options for switch off thogh and I can easily boot to maemo from there.
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
exactly the same for me. The first boot was fine but now when I boot android, I just get the desktop with the status bar but no menu available, no search bar and no icon on the desktop. It's useless and unresponsive.
Like new_bee, I can only switch off the system by long pressing the power button and choosing to turn off. I don't know how to fix it without retrying the whole procedure |

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
hi steve just a question, did you realise that the keyboard led light is going crazy in maemo and android, even when the keyboard is closed, this is draining the battery off
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
yes its fault of rnd mode
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
anyway to work without rnd mode
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
steve, does disabling r n d mode allow dualbooting? why is rnd mode needed? is it something to do with that watch dog service?
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
guys, many thanks for amazing work!
keep em' coming :D |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Sorry to be a pain, tried the files and instructions on #839 pg 84 and it all seemed to go well, files on the sd card and sucessful flash but keeps on booting into Maemo with no sight of a dual boot option.
Any ideas? |

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
Can we use proximity sensor as back key, power key as menu key and keyboard lock switch as power key? If(or when) possible. it could be better than current implementations IMHO.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
I always get the same error
[ 234.1230231] init: cannot execve('/system/bin/mediaserver'): Permission denied [ 234.1230231] init: cannot execve('/system/bin/keystore'): Permission denied [ 234.1230231] init: cannot execve('/system/bin/dbus-daemon'): Permission denied why? please help |
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
It's a permissions problem. Start from the beginning and also type this on terminal "chmod 777 /system/bin/*" (no quotes + "insert where the partition is mounted"/system/bin/*)

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
im not sure if the ondevice flasher app on n900 is capable of enableing/disabling r&d mode or not if it iss it could be a way to get round the rd problems, but at min r&d has to be cactive or device powers of before android boots
|
Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic
