How do you set this darnn thing up? I have T-mobile and MMS looks right. I get the messages, but when I try to open it up it fails every time.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

@TheLongshot
I've had problems for a few versions with T-mobile. I think T-mo changed the way they do things and frals hasn't figured it out. I tried to help but it's beyond my limited scope.
I just have people email me anymore. It's a pain but hopefully Nokia fixes this deficiency in the N950.

I'm having issues with getting fMMS 1.3.3 to work.
I did have it (i think a previous version) working with the same settings (i think) before reflashing my phone.

I set up the application with my providers settings (Telenor, sweden)
When i try to connect manually to the MMS-connection it works just fine, as do it when fMMS automaticly connect.

When i try to open an received MMS, this is what happens:
"Downloading MMS"
"Operation Failed"

I have the same provider (Telenor Sweden) and the same problem.
Used to work, now doesn't work and I have version 1.3.4 now. :-/

I can send MMS:es to my friends and they can see MMS I sent them, but when they send an MMS to me it halts.
I get the push-message that an MMS has arrived, but can't download it. I get "Downloading MMS" "Operation Failed".

Here is my fmms.log: http://pastebin.com/BvXHcbh7

I don't know if it helps to know that if I have it on POLITE connection and I connect with the mms-apn first manually (like I would do when connecting to a WiFi or my regular ISP) i still get the notice that
"To retrieve the MMS your active connection will need to change. Switch connection?"
Shouldn't fMMS recognize this connection and say "Ah, already connected to the mms-apn, no need to switch!"?

And also. If I start fMMS and tries to download an MMS without having a connected apn already (and being in POLITE mode) I just get the spinning wheel (as in 'working, working, working. . ') on top of the screen and it doesn't ask me what connection I should use or anything. The spinning wheel never (it seems) stops . . :-/

Hope you can fix it, since it 'used to work before'

(Also sending this to your email frals)

Thanks for the reply, but no dice. No matter what the settings, I can see that I got messages, but can't view any of them. Very frustrating.

Same here. T-mobile USA and it seems like nothing works, although the fact that all the settings information that I can find seem to be horrendously out of date doesn't help either. Can someone tell me how to find out which version of fmms I'm using? The "about application" button isn't very forthcoming...

Change wap.voicestream.com to epc.tmobile.com. Seems to have fixed it for me

im also using tmo usa and it works perfect...sending and reciving.. ive even been lucky enough to get and view short vids....
using latest version to my knowledge...1.3.4. i experienced not being able to see version there once and just uninstalled and reinstalled and that seemed to do the trick...
also i did have lots of issues getting to work.....the trick for me was uninstalling....doing a purge after..the reinstalling and following the wiki closely. theres a point where it says connect as polite using internet connections by selecting mms from the list..so connect there and send and recieve to yourself. if it works...go into fmms setgs and change to havoc...
that worked for me try it.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

We need a "delete all" button. I had to go through and delete over 100 mms messages. Makes it run much smoother but a pain to do one by one.

I second this... Even if it's just a batch delete dialog with check-boxes, or a high-lighting of messages you want to delete all at once. Having to tick each message is a pain, but not as bad as a long-tap and menu for each.

Thanks again for this great functionality on the N900! Still hard to believe there were months where I wasn't able to get or send MMS because it wasn't supplied by default on a flagship smartphone. :p

amen to that, I lasted a few weeks before getting fmms. Then I found out I was being sent "tasteful" pics but couldn't get em, I freaked!

Thanks for this app, and lets see a nice little update!

Thanks! Worked for me. Definitely nice to have MMS back.

Thanks again to frals too. Not sure if he's updating this app or not still so I'm not sure a "delete all" button will come.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Anyone?

List of Fixes/Modifications please

1.) Creat a way to mass delete or clean up mms's? Or at least a check list for clicking which one we want to delete.

2.) Changing the order images are displayed when selecting them. When I click ADD IMAGE it takes me to the folder directory, but everything is in order from oldest to last( due to file name). So I have to scroll for an hour just to get to the end of the list, can we reverse that?

Did you re-configure the settings? As far as I remember not all fMMS settings survive a reflash.

It can be picky at times. Check through all the settings and make sure you've got separate apn for gprs and mms. Try "havoc" mode - it'll force the messages through the mms and won't alert you that it's going to use a data connection - from my use seems like a symbian/other phone.

i finally have money in my paypal and i want to donate to u, but your link isnt working! i think i donated before? i dont remember. but anyway i want to donate more. this is one of the most important apps for the n900 and i cant believe nokia didnt pay you for something they should have done!

here is what i get...
"The connection has timed out
The server at blog.frals.se is taking too long to respond."

Also, I would like an option in the settings to have all mms images automatically saved to my gallery (not just show in the gallery but also be saved in a folder where they will remain after i delete the mms). hopefully that would be something easy to do? does that sound like something u might have time for?

thanks again frails youre amazing!

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

I have never needed MMS before, but today I had the need to get it working. Installed fmms, I set up the settings given by my mobile operator, however it fails. I believe the problem lies at the following:

The http proxy I enter is:
010.150.000.033

However, once I click save it automatically edits it to:

10.150.0.33 and hence I get an error for wrong settings and I can't send nor receive any MMS:|

Here is the official settings provided - http://www.mtel.bg/info/gsm_adv/mms_...hp?gsm_id=1412 . It is in Bulgarian, but it shouldn't be of a problem.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:
FYI I tried both extras and extras-devel version.

The extra 0s have no effect. It's not the 0s going away that's causing a problem.

Double check the other settings and re-read this thread. Sometimes the carrier has be to told that your device is MMS enabled, or you may have to send an MMS before the system realizes your mobile is MMS capable.

@carlon: Double check the settings, it seems fmms is unable to connect to the MMSC properly

Sorry, my webserver went bonkers, link is available on http://mms.frals.se now :-)

As for features I won't make any promises, I've not had time to look at it for a long time unfortunately :(

not sure if someone has mentioned this, but when I try to send a MMS to a Blackberry or Iphone, they don't receive it....why is that? but if the same message is sent to android device, they can see it.

would it ever be possible to integrate picture/voice/file messages in the maemo conversation box? kinda like how palm pre blackberry and iphone have it?

after reflash did u fresh install fmms or using backup to reinstall it???

fresh install wont cause any problem.... reinstall from backup might be....

reset setting on fmms then send one mms to test it....

remember this...looks carefully at the fmms setting (celcom provider) internet connection....
look at the access point name...if it "unet" then make sure the your device is in dual mode (3G+GSM)...if you put only GSM then you might only can receive it but not sending it....

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

Hi,

At some point with the latest CSSU updates fMMS has stopped working for me. I received a new MMS but when I tap the message in the list the fetching MMS note is displayed and it stays there forever.

I'm using Elisa's SIM. I have an AP named "Elisa MMS" in the Internet connections, all the settings for that should be as listed here http://wiki.maemo.org/MMS_configurations#Finland. And also the connection settings in fMMS are correct and it was working just a few days back.

Any clues why it does not succeed in fetching the message anymore?

It may be that fMMS has the wrong MMS AP name remembered? There's a way to set that with gconf, but I'm not sure what it is. I'm pretty sure it's in this thread though, so a thread search should find it.

One thing to try: Switch modes in fMMS (Havoc, Rude, Polite), and exit, then re-run it and change it back to what you had. I find sometimes after an update that fixes any little glitches that may be introduced by settings not migrating quite right between versions.

Re: [Announce] fMMS - MMS on the N900

I have reciently purchased the N900 and have installed fMMS. I have followed all the instructions to set it up however it will not download any MMS messages. whenever I try to open a message I get a message saying "opperation failed" however no other information. I have tried re-installing and re-booting the phone and changing the settings and nothing seems to work. any ideas on why this might be?

I have had a similar experience to the sender in the above post.

When I installed fMMS I forgot to configure the network settings (oops!). I now have a couple of messages in my inbox that can't be opened, while those sent/received since remebering to configure the settings work fine.

Any ideas on how to open the messages that have delivered header only?

change the network mode to havoc....save the setting, reboot & try re-download the mms...

Hi,

I have a N900 and I installed fMMS a long time ago.

A couple of months I'm having some problems: when I receive a MMS i try to download and read it but the system said "Operation failed". When I download succesfully the mms I can't touch on respond(SMS) because the sender is "0". Can somebody help me?

Another question: Can I save mms on my pc? If yes, how?
