Re: TOHKBD rev2

@Kabouik: I had exactly the same situation. I pledged for the 120€ option, to get the custom colored kbd. Now my girlfriend decided to order a Jolla and wanted the TOHKBD, too.
I asked Dirk with the "Ask a question"-function on kickstarter and he told me, I should just double my pledge to receive two TOHKBDs.
So, I changed my pledge from 120€ + 11€ shipping to 2x120€ + 11€ shipping.

I don't know, how they will split this up, so that we can configure two TOHKBDs after the kickstarter campaign, but I think, there will be a way to do this :)

I just did as Dirk said and pledged 2x120€ + 1x shipping for two coloured KBDs (now signature too)...

The way I see it that if you were an early bird at the beginning, then your early bird 'advantage' will be available in case of addons(=extra TOHKBDs) too, whenever you choose to use it, if you choose to use it. For example if I would've pledged 100€ for the "SUPERMEGA-earlybird" reward of 1 standard TOHKBD, in that case I could have just doubled that now (2x100€ + 1x shipping) and get two coloured TOHKBDs!

I may of course be wrong though.

Yes, probably! Too bad that the Hero only pledged recently then, because I was there when €100 options were still available, and with the hero I would have had 2 coloured tohkbd2 for 200€ instead of 240. :>

Keycap is made with traslucent plastic and covered in two layers of paint. First layer is "white+blue" base and secon is all black. Then some parts of that black layer can be evaporated with the laser to engrave blue and white symbols. So in a way you will have groove, yes.

Are there more videos and/or pics than the ones on the Kickstarter page? It would be cool to see some more shots of the keyboard in action.

Talking about the hero. Will it be public who our hero is? It's perfectly fine if it stays a secret, but we are curious. And until I hear something else I'll more or less assume it's J****.

I paid for the custom colour option. I may or may not use it, that depends on how I feel when it comes to ordering. The hero upgraded me to an option I do not want. Maybe I should start grumbling.

Please, tell me you're not serious. I wasn't myself, and I thought it was pretty clear in the tone of my post.

answered in pm

anyway, the cover-casing in the pics i showed yesterday fitted perfectly with the PCB that goes with it, assembling goes like a charm and fits nicely to the phone, so that part is final.

the toh-casing-pcb had some small mistakes, mainly the alignment of the contacts was wrong. revised ones should arrive in a few days and pcb art is almost done. meaning: when new pcb's are in i will assemble some with smd components and if all is well the cover-pcb is also final.

the keyboard-slider casing needs some work still, not optimized for production and the pcb also needs further testing and development.

but i can probably start production on the toh-cover pretty soon.

Re: TOHKBD rev2

Now that the end of the campaign is only hours away, I'd like to ask a question I have not seen an answer to:

I picked the color option, but then the Hero came and I will likely not be able to downgrade my perk, therefore it makes me entitled to the engraved signature. I know I can choose not having the signature engraved, but what if I wanted to have something custom engraved (personal note/logo/etc.). Would that be possible?

I don't have anything in mind (I don't even know I want any engraving) - I know I will choose no engraving over signature, but custom one would get me thinking :)

PS: How much before you become the 3rd most successful Dutch campaign?

Engraving is totally optional, but custom engravings will be impossible to process with amount of orders.

neither i guess, the red is really really fire-engine red, the orange is a bit more of a soft tone.

Re: TOHKBD rev2

Is there anyone (or dirkvl) who own any of the previous products and can shed some more light on the various colour choices?

As I understand it, a white base material with coloured/painted top-coating is used (probably with the exception of the alumide selection where the base material is mixed with aluminium powder and thus of homogeneous colour and unpainted).

I am looking for a product with as good finish as possible. Therefore, I see a risk with a painted surface prone to scratching or peeling. And with a base material in contrasting colour the wear and tear might soon be very visible.

Given this I think the polished white option is the safest bet but it is quite boring. Alumide would be another alternative but all alumide products I have seen so far has had a very rough, uneven, surface texture.
