Q2 2011 Nokia had no WP whatsoever, Q2 2012 Nokia released their Lumia 900 and were selling half a dozen other WP at the same time. He is comparing a draught quarter where Nokia did not exist, to one where Nokia launched their flagship WP. Yet still Symbian and blackberry outsold it in that quarter of both 2011 and 2012. Those numbers are not what he believes they are. He then extends that growth to somehow mean WP8 is going to overtake them without realizing where that jump came from, Nokia buyers. Wouldn't place too much hope on what he says. Matthew is openly a WP pusher (dare I say fanboy) looking for numbers to gain a little comfort in his platform of choice: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/cell-phone...-it-a-try/7348 |

Also please stop with irrelevant bashing of N9 at any opportunity, not because I think you are not entitled to your opinion but because I don't see the relevance when the competitors on that list are blackberry, symbian, iOS and Android, who are above. |
Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!
You are right. N9 is irrelevant to NOKIA stock and has always been irrelevant. Symbian is a goner. So what is left?

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!
2011Q2? You don't have to look that much further back to see a growth percentage of thousands and tens of thousands. Once the first is sold, the growth in percentage will be tremendous.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!
277% at that point doesn't say anything about success. It just means that Windows Phone was new. Windows Mobile had 3% market share and that was considered a huge failure.

Re: Let's talk Nokia stock!
3.2% isn't too bad and I still believe windows phone will establish itself next year or so.
Whether being MS' ***** is good for nokia is another question of course, they're heading towards long-term irrelevance. I read an article about NFC payment recently in a german newspaper, no mention of nokia at all. They talk about windows phone and MS of course, but nokia doesn't matter as a brand anymore. |
