There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. You're paying for that (almost certainly capped/throttled) connection all right, it's just that the cost is hidden elsewhere.

I'm no expert, but I don't see that kind of courage in the N900. It combines a bunch of technological trends; I don't see anything original about it. It's just geek++

What would I do with a device which serves no purpose to me, even if something is offered for free. Rather offer me the device for free and I might consider it then ;-)

Kindle is supposed to be a device for reading books and it can't do that enough. I love photography and I have some good books for them. How does Kindle solve my problem!

I prefer to go with jack-of-all-trades sort of thing rather than master-of-one.

A whopping $489 for a 9.7 inches screen just to see stuff (email, rss, proprietary format books) in black-and-white is not worth the price. Not at all, atleast in my books.

Hehe... you're nor alone. I use an N810 right now, my N800 started to fall apart recently (screen issues) and what did I do? I bought a new N800.

Now. With the first photos of Rover floating around.

Because not only do I feel the N800 is better suited for certain use cases than the N810, I also am convinced that both models are closer to what I personally need that any Maemo5 device will ever be.

The N8x0-series may live longer than expected. ;)

Would anybody know how much physical RAM N900 has? In the review Eldar states, "However from the technical standpoint, it doesn't differ from the N97 at all". This suggests to me that it could possibly be only 128 MB.... I'm really hoping for 256 MB as the leaked specs seemed to suggest.

MMS? If that's it, I'll have to stay out of a lot of forums for quite a while or the Apple-crowd will tear me apart. - I remember what I (and others) wrote about a "phone" that couldn't even do MMS ;)

And that's where open source development comes in... Apps that auto display user defined, previously stored contact information, retrieve or construct new contact information from incoming calls (reverse phone number look-up while in call, social networks, etc :) ), screen calls based on a selected profile (work, personal, on holiday) and ring, flash, or send to voice mail as assigned, and do whatever cell phone users have complained was lacking in cell phone software over the years... and that's just the start. I imagine software that can recognized phone numbers or web addy's and provide links in received SMS could also be developed. :eek:
