Use Jabberrrrrrrrrrrr . You can have all your contacts of all others IM with Jabber . I'm a newbie Jabber (The N900 made me dicover Jabber) but I reallly love it ^^

If you can't find it, you may not have all of the app catalogs enabled. And you don't need an MSN app, as I've said 20 zillion times. The IM support is built into the phone via the Conversations app, and threaded with SMS in one place. You just have to install the plugins to support the protocol you wish to use. There is one called Haze that supports everything in one install, but its in Extras-testing. You have to have it enabled to download it. Most of those apps aren't ready for prime time, but honestly, the Haze app is just fine, imo. Just be careful installing anything else from that repository.

I still downloaded it today and installed it but haven't had a chance to try it. It's my wife's main concern since she chats with friends overseas on MSN Messenger from her TP2 and if she can't easily do this with the N900, she may just sell it and stick with the TP2.
Avoid downloading apps from anywhere but the repositories in App Mgr. That way you get automatic updates. And you can't verify the integrity of any site hosting apps, but the App Mgr. is the trusted delivery method. There are very few, if any, apps avialable for the N900 you can't download directly from the device's App Mgr. This is where all Maemo devs host their apps, and anyone else hosting them is just going against the system needlessly.

When we say aMSN is buggy, this only means the app will not work in all the best ways possible right? It doesn't mean that it will ruin my phone or possibly brick it? If so please let me know and I will uninstall that thing right away. I downloaded it from the new beta site called www.my-maemo.com where they had hundreds of apps but I'm assuming none of those are ready yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks again man!
It hasn't gone through the testing process all apps must go through to get to Extras yet, but it may or not be fine to use atm. But with Conversations, standalone apps are outdated. Just install Haze and add all your Yahoo, MSN, Skype, ICQ, Jabber, GaduGadu, and other IM accounts at once.

Not true, for example Conversations may not support file transfer, over audio/visual (granted most other standalone clients don't either but they are already laying the groundwork for it if they don't support it already).

But for general chatting needs, Conversations will be perfect.

Is there a way to fix the "No Hash entry in Release file" error I am getting trying to enable the Extras Devel repo?

I expect there will be a fix, but no, it won't be something you can do client-side. Sorry. You can follow the ongoing saga of bug 6460 though, if you'd like.

or do you mean something else?

This is possible from live messenger 2009 and up. You can login at multiple places simultaneously.

Edit: I never tried it though, it's just now that i would like such a function. You are saying although the options are there in the messenger client, it actually doesn't work? Going to try that later on :)

Oh and there are some problems with msn (haze). It doesn't change status and nickname correctly. Where can i submit bugs for haze?
