Re: [iPhone4] Loses Reception When You Touch the Side (Who says Apple products are "Better Quality"?)
" lright, just to put everyone at ease... No matter how much we'd all like to believe that the iPhone 4's antenna is to blame for the shitty cell service, new information seems to be pointing at the iOS4 update, rather than the iPhone 4 itself.
Supposedly, a similar issue to what the iPhone 4 is having has been replicated in several 3Gs models after the 4.0 update was applied to the device. One of the new additions in iOS4 (Version 4.0) is a new way the baseband handles signals and signal noise. This was a major revision in the baseband software and according to the article below, the software is more than likely to blame for the chaos. Let it be known however, that due to FCC rules, all new phone antenna, not just the iPhone's must be placed as far from the user's head as possible. This explains the bottom mounted antenna. Of course it's going to cause reception issues; somewhat. The FCC is trying to save lives, not phone calls. - Sucks, right? Many iPhone users in the past have complained about dropped calls when holding the device at the bottom, this is no different. It's always best to hold your phone away from the antenna. Duhh. I give it until early next week until we see iOS 4.01 - Thankfully the JB and Unlock for iPhone 4 hasn't been released yet, otherwise we would have ended up stuck with shitty service!!!" Quote from appleinsider... ... so if it really is a software mistake, all the critics are wrong.. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles..._ios_4_01.html |

Apparently many users have resorted to clear nail polish to fix the antennae problem.
This is what I would be tempted to get though: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2010/06/st...a-bumper-case/ http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/ass...orstealth2.jpg |

Dejavu? ;)
Seriously guys keeping this kind of thread here we only proving that free marketing works and that what is all about. I wondering how many forums around network heating some apple issues up. Do you remember IPhone 3GS and story about self-blowing-up devices? BBC where taking about this on main channel over 3 days. Every newspaper I can grab in tube these days wherever is some add (no matter what kind of area) If you want to check our service go here, also available on mobiles (Here iPhone picture sticking out from every corner) No exception no even dummy phone its always iPhone! One day I was pretty bored heading home, took Evening Standards and start counting number of iPhone's presented many different ways. Pictures, articles, awards for competition etc. I don't actually remember how many pages ES has but I counted 56 times!!!. Every evening? Gosh... British government seems to support Apple behind the scene. And that's stink to me if politicians are supporting corporation. There is completely different level of deals when you think of that one company is the only solution provider. For example equip British schools with MAC only. Or some big company 2000 employees got Mac's on their desks. Any reason? Deal behind closed doors? Saving money facing a crisis buying 2x more expensive apple and getting job done slower? I can give you hundreds examples to support that. But my point is, start looking at things with a bit criticism. Wider picture of the situation is always helpful. They constantly washing our brains no matter you like it or not. I have no illusion that affected me as well even If I keep my own theory in mind. No matter is good device or not. We are making choices under pressure some way. And this is not even about Apple only of course. But Seriously, the last thing I want to read about on maemo.org is f*****g i**** over and over again! |

Re: [iPhone4] Loses Reception When You Touch the Side (Who says Apple products are "Better Quality"?)
Reportedly, here's the latest response from Steve about the signal issue:
http://images.macrumors.com/article/...-staytuned.png At least it's clear that they're doing something about this 'issue'. (Otherwise he wouldn't tell ppl to 'stay tuned'.) To put things in perspective though, Apple did respond to this issue in a matter of hours and it seems that they now have a plan to handle it in place. |
Re: [iPhone4] Loses Reception When You Touch the Side (Who says Apple products are "Better Quality"?)
But Mr Jobs, that's the whole point....because of the reception issue, I can't stay tuned :D
