How much space needs to be available on the Internal Memory Card? Mine is pretty full of FLAC files!

OK Good,
I thought I read somewhere that this expanded to something like 12 GBs or something.

I'm a lossless kinda guy I guess. The FLACs come from my collection and I'm too lazy to down sample them all for the N900.

I bought the Fremantle version earlier tonight and I'm very happy with what I see so far, but I would love (enough to buy another licence) to also be able to run it on an N8x0's larger screen.

It seems to require fewer resources than Navicore/Wayfinder or Ovi maps (hardly surprising since it's a native app for a change!) and it's a GTK+ application so porting it to Diablo is hopefully going to be easier than Harmattan.

sorry, but there are no plans for a Diablo version. Maybe once, but not in a near future (next few weeks).

Never mind your Sygic quick get that plane trip changed - you are after a ticket to Johannesburg.

Also I dont think sygic has maps of South Africa at all - not on N900 or any other platform they support.

Well... Im going to stay in Brazil during worldcup in South Africa and as I have learned Sygic already have maps of Brazil but not for the N900.

i was impressed!

I didn't try fm transmitter yet, but i don't meen when i am listening to music via bt, i meen a handsfree bt device in my car. it only transmittes voice while calling. but the navi doesn't speek when its connected to the bt, i think it wants to transmit voice over the bt, but the car device doens't do that. so there should be a way to say that the voice from navi always has do go through the build in speakers from n900.

Any sollution for map lagging behind like 50-100m all the time? Nokia Maps shows the location right and is following the position very accurate. It's not a problem in highways, but in the city centre it's pretty annoying.

Hmm.. I'd need some help with this. I downloaded the application overnight and installed the assistant on my PC. I followed the instructions - I plugged in my N900 via Mass Storage mode, selected the maps, voices I wanted to install, chose the first drive to copy the folders to on device. When the sync with my N900 was done I ran the "SetupMobileMaps" file to install the app on N900. It installs and I can see it in my application list. When i click on it, it starts to open, but closes right after so I can't even run the application.

I don't have an SD card in my phone - thought 32GB would suffice for the next few months. When I check the File Browser, all my folders are in the root folder. I reinstalled the application on the phone, restarted the device, but still I can't run the application.

Any idea what I should to to make this application work?

Check this link, there's a description http://www.sygic.com/partners/pois.html
The program itself could be found by a Goggle-search. Up to now I didn't test it.

I'm not sure if Sygic wants normal users to import POI's.

P.S.
maybe zdeno. call tell us ?:)

You could even download POI's from
http://www.poiplaza.com/index.php
There're already UPI files for SYGIV availible

Did you unplugged the USB when you started Sygic after installation?

Unfortunately I lose my phone more than most and although I'm still on my first N900 (touch wood) if I had to shell out a new 60 euros on top of a insurance premium each time I probably wouldn't get it.

I'm more than 99,99% sure that what you pay for is the license, not software. And it's the registration/license code received from Sygic upon the payment process is worth those money you've paid. Just keep the code in a safe place and you're good to go:)

Hope this helps, if it's not enough for you though there's another solution: backup the downloaded exe or zip file and you should be safe.

Yes - just drop them into the relevant map folder (e.g. MyDocs/Maps/gbr for Britain). They'll need to be in UPI format though - I used the OV2UPI Translator 2.9 to convert some TomTom ones I had.

1. Uninstall the Maps software through app manager.
2. Remove Drive, Maps and Res folders and the DEB file from the N900
3. Connect via USB in mass storage mode
4. Run the assistant again and install it on the internal flash!
5. Disconnect
6. Fire up the DEB file, again through app manager, not dpkg -i
7. Reboot

It should work, if it won't contact Sygic.

It doesn't seem like it has been answered clearly, but when importing your maps from n97 or 5800 does the SW ask for license or how does it work?

You have the system volume set to max? Sygic follows the N900 master volume slider.

Sygic is asking me to go online every time I run the program. I ignore it and can navigate well, however after some time driving (10-15 minutes) it asks me again to go online. Again I can ingnore it, but It's pretty annoying.

Yep, set to max it seems fine when I'm not in the car, but seems very low when I am in the car.

Also you can play it through the FM transmitter!!!!!

There's also volume settings in the app itself (actually two, one for low speeds and one for higher speeds). Did you check those also? At default the lower speed volume was 50%.

Tried everything - both to max and phone volume to max, but N95 with route66 is still louder.

Has anyone compared the routing algorithm to other GPS apps? I think the routing algo is a rubbish, I tried it yesterday and it took me the long way around even though I said shortest, stupid Sygic.

fm transmitter and turn up the volume for the car's soundsystem.:D

If the volume isnt higher than the n95, n97...you need a new sound system ;)

The normal Sound is enough for my ears. Why do you need higher volume?

Like change a song in the media player and then switch back to sygic.

Your should now see the app in the menu.

That would be exactly what I did as per the instructions. As I explained it didn't work and I cannot work our why?! Any ideas

Apparently not - you can see on here they cover how to extract from the VIF and how to pack into a PAK file for Sygic, but they say the voices don't match up properly. You can give it a shot though.

Do you have a UK version N900? with the old f/w?

You need to update to the latest one - OR install the .deb via the command line.

you can install a program like camkeyd to open the task-switcher by pressing the cam button.

I have bought the Western European maps package from the Sygic website, run the PC loader, and have successfully installed the Malta map to my Nokia N900. It may not be in the .zip file that you just copy across, but when installing via the PC .exe program, you can chose your specific regions or specific countries and Malta, along with every other country in Europe is there.
