I did a search on the interweb and it told me the date is

12 19 17 4 11 3 Chuwen 4 Pohp G1

I'm not at all sure how that helps though?

Gtalk yesp though you can already do gtalk video calls, the only thing the update will add is the ability to start it from the N900. Right now the person on the PC has to start it

Skype, no as far as I know.

Now just wait, I doubt that any of the mentioned dates are true at all. In my opinion the biggest improvement in the last weeks is the overclock feature because you actually feel a real big difference.

yeah its starting one that i need to do, getting my missus to use anything new is difficult, hence auto startup of pidgin and skype.

I hear that Nokia's firmware team are big fans of the Manchester Phoenix and have decided that if the Phoenix win the EPL Playoffs on Sunday then a special Jaakko Hagelberg Edition of PR1.2 will be released on Monday.

That is a physical address. You will have to travel to city Chuwen on the planet Pohp in the G1 galaxy to retrieve your firmware disk.

108 divided by 12 equals 9
so that means the update will be with us on the 9th in 48hrs

there should be a beta firmware too. If its just few days away, the quality must be really good, thats all i want :)

I think the longer the space between the updates the less the updates they will have to do, especially now that they are switching to a new OS, and Maemo is turning into history. It might be in their own interest to not "rush" the update and have people already waiting for the next one.

I don't think it is a lie... But due to the lots of FUD about N900, which Nokia is responsible by the way, my feeling is that the reason they want to deliver PR1.2 is much more related to business strategy (promoting Qt for developers, thinking about Meego's future) than Customer Care...

Tomorrow Apple will present new features in the iPhone OS 4.0. Can you imagine the disappointment if they instead showed the new Maemo5 features in 1.2? But... but... look at the bugs in our code we fixed!!!

yes, i know one is a "minor" release and one is a "major" release, but since we'll NEVER seen Maemo5 2.0, really "minor" releases should have some "major" release expectations.
