Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

is there a manual online? that's easier then looking on youtube all the time.

but i really apreciate everything you do for android on n900.

but this is android 1.6? how far are you with 2.1?

dj_steve 2010-06-11 21:07

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

no the howto was done before 2.1 wifi was perfected the root fs is 2.1

and the howto is mostly the same as one on page 30 except diff kernel and rootfs and fact you need bootmenu instaled - im sure someone here can write up a howto for me thoug h:)

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

pff i really wanna try this but i dont know anything or not much about terminal and i have windows 7 and i need some linux vm???

dj_steve 2010-06-11 21:15

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

you do ideally need linux of some sort yes,

edit: for those of you asking about market i am currently testing a couple of the openm market apps (andappstore and sam) to see if they work or not, will likely put up a root fs shortly if they do

nielsvg 2010-06-11 21:16

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

dj_steve 2010-06-11 21:27

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

ahh lack of cd drive could be an issue their lol. try vmware yes as the workstation version is available as a free trial - or use virtualbox as its opensource and free

nielsvg 2010-06-11 21:29

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

ok thx i'm gonna try:)

dj_steve 2010-06-11 21:31

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

justy use a os like damn small linux or similar - ubuntui will struggle to run on a netbook in a vm

nielsvg 2010-06-11 21:32

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

what do oyu mean a small linux? what do you recommend?

dj_steve 2010-06-11 21:39

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

google for a linux distro called 'damn small linux' (DSL for short) its a linux distro thats only about 150mb in size but be ample for what you need

MiK546 2010-06-11 21:43

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Damn small inux can be run from USB Memorystick too (this would work in a netbook).

Ty for your work dj_steve.

How do you find enough free time to doing all this work ?

Somebody could write the how-to in this post or in the wiki ?
It's very hard for to me to follow video tutorial (i'm form old school, I need to read to tutorial, not to see it :) ).

dj_steve 2010-06-11 22:33

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

If you want the homescreens to be smooth, I suggest LauncherPro. It's free and really increases the eye candy.

juandp77 2010-06-11 23:59

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

maybe in /etc/mce/mce.ini we could find an answer to the keyboard lights issue

juandp77 2010-06-12 00:23

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

ok thanks to qwerty12 we have a solution for keyboard crazy lights

Edit /etc/pmconfig and change "sleep_ind 1" to "sleep_ind 0", then reboot

so lets try and let me know if that works for you
