That's is what I do I'm waiting...and waiting. But I didn't get any answer from jolla regarding when. The device is working but battery sucks so I need a new one. Also for the future you need more than one battery.

When You think about it. Why would jolla suddenly start selling battery separately now all of a sudden when they soon will look at their next device? Does that make sense to suddenly start selling it when device will be replaced soon?

But hey...I'm ready to be supprised any day now, jolla.

Really sorry about the battery. My big issue has been the data which has made the Jolla phone DOA as far as a daily drive in US. I had heard that Tmoble was going to covert its frequency bands used for 2G to 4G but it hasn't happened yet. While I still don't know for sure if I will get the Note 4, at this point, I'd be reluctant to trade in the Jolla phone because I like to see the updates there may be ahead and I've been thinking about getting the OHKB so I might have a mini computer. One of the N900's I bought used for $100 so I might trade that in. If not that then maybe the OGN. The other problem is that I'm a pack rat so it is hard for me to part with anything...

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Just a brief follow up on trading in smart phone for Note 4. I went to a Tmobile store and asked what they would give me for my "smart" phone to trade in for Note 4.

Neither the N900 or the Jolla phone come up on Tmobile's data base so they will not give a penny for them. It's a no go if you expect Samsung to give you $200 since you can't trade them in. At least that is how I understood it. For the rest.

model...Tmobile will give + Samsung's contribution= Total
OGN $86 +$114 = $200
GN2 $87 + $113 = $200
GN3 $275 + $0 = $275

You dont ask. You take your NotListedPhone and sneak trade it. Basically you dont bring up the subject until you got the Note 4 in front of you on the desk and they ask you to pay. Thats when you make your move and tell them that you would like to trade your phone. That way its much harder for them to deny you ;)

That's how I'd do it.
Later if they bring up conditions then I'd be like.... but the ad said this, that's inconvenient for me, its like false advertising man!

Watch them back peddle and say you know nevermind. And if they don't , just say okay I change my mind... I might buy an iPhone 6 with another carrier.

That might be the case :)
So make sure to make a "scene" if they deny it. I would suggest to add a t-mobile logo on your t-shirt (if you don't have a t-mobile t_shirt already) to get some extra attention. And then when they deny you. you simply rip your shirt to peices and start jumping on it while you are screaming "Never again. I will never use t-mobile again. Evvvver!" and then calmly walk out of the store without shirt. GL.

After that you just upload the video to Tmo I think we could collect the two hundred dollars for you :D

Looks like it's acorrding to design. But please...who want an empty space there?

Atm I have no clue how visible this space actually is, if it's an issue at all. Still good to now so you could check it out before buying.

From the comments of that video I understand this is actually on purpose because the phone can be repaired if the LCD breaks? And previous models had it too.

Looks like the Apple PR department is in overdrive after their bendgate.

Great! As I recall you are coming from a Note 2. This should be a major jump! Looking forward to reading about your impressions. Was thinking about getting the Nexus 6 but less likely now. I will probably go for Note 4 as well. Waiting till it shows up at the t-moble store to take a closer look.

Got it. Great piece of hardware. Making it mine with all my software and settings and stuff will be huge. Rooting, too.
Screen has awesome resolution. Sounds is not that great,I expected more.
TouchWiz ui is always goofy. This for now.

Ah, and charging through the stock charger (9V) is really fast.

I sort of wished the Note 4 was better:
-A cleaner ui like MIUI, but more powerful like PACrom
-front-firing speakers
-metal kickstand (amplifies antenna, protects camera)
-headset jack on the bottom
-double-sided faster usb
-1080p screen instead (3 day battery life)
-no gaps between screen and metal (aka card holder)

How fast? I would be really worried if it got from 0 to 100% in less than two hours. Fast charging is not good for the battery. It may of course be a deliberate plot for making you buy a new battery (or a new phone) every 6 months.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

FasT charging is great. That is the future. I would be disappointed if a device took more than 2h today and 1h tomorrow.

Top devices released during summer 2014 charged 0-100 between 1:30 to 2 H and some above. But 1 H charge is not far off.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Well if you want faster ....

there is always the iphone/ microwave method...that sort out your charging quick.

Even quicker is the "fork method"
1- hold smartphone in left hand
2- hold fork in right hand
3- insert fork in electrical outlet
4- voila!...charged ....done
5- actually both you and smartphone may be OVER done.
6- use crispy smartphone or friends smartphone to call ambulance.

Actually, it seems that several people fried their devices in a microwave oven. I wonder what kind of education did they get at school.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Just moved from N9 (died after about 3yrs of usage) to Galaxy Note 4.

To be completely honest, i did not quite mean that. I was ok with an old dumbphone plus a 7-inch tablet as my post-N9 solution, but my wife brought the Note 4 to me as present :) That's completely fine, i'm buying her shoes too. Occasionally we fail slightly, but most often not. So, i've become an Android junkie. For now at least.

My first impressions (after about 10 days of usage, not rooted so far):

Positive:
+ Generally feels faster and more stable than N9
+ The official Waze app works much better on Android than the old unofficial port on N9. I'm using Waze almost daily.
+ S-pen. My handwriting style seems favorable to it. I'm already hand-writing faster than typing with the on-screen keyboard.
+ User-replaceable battery and extensible memory
+ Just ONE app that i find useful and that was missing in N9 - local mobile parking app.

Negative:
- Size and physical design. It is too big for comfortable and secure one-handed operation. It is too thin and wide. It feels like designed for aerodynamics and gliding on water rather than being held in hand. Phablets are not for me. The size and thickness of N9 together with its rounded edge silicon case was just perfect.
- The "back" and "list running apps" buttons are so close to the bottom edge that i tend to touch them unintentionally.
- Profiles and automatic rules. I've tried about five different profiles apps for Android but so far nothing comes close to ProfileMatic for N9 for functionality and reliability. I undestand that this is partly due to the limitations of Android platform itself (when not rooted).
- The TouchWiz UI feels a bit messy for me, compared to the clean and somewhat minimalist Harmattan UI.

You will learn to get use to IT and after that you cant go back to small screen phone. And if you can handle IT you can always...

Competition is good! I'm not too familiar with LG. Wonder how software that utilizes pen will be different.
So which will come out first. The Note 5 or the Jolla Tablet?

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

I sort of guessed these specs, but never guessed they'd announce it or release it in June. I was expecting Novemberish.

5.9 inch
4K display
New beefy Exynos processor
New front-back cameras
New fingerprint reader
SGS6 styling
No waterproofing, No repl-battery, No microSD, No dualSIM.
Edge variant
VR head unit (and advertising)
A larger battery (3,500mAh ?)
8.9mm thickness

I wasn't expecting:
June release/announcement
7.0mm thickness
4,100mAh battery

And we already know its draw-backs:
Android 5.0 instead of Android 5.1
TouchWizz is still full of bloat
KNOX security prevents warranties
Lack of documentation and sources make porting AOSP a challenge, and Ubuntu/SailOS/Nemo/FFOS an impossibility
Price increase
4K is gimmick at the moment (big strain on 3D performance, battery life, storage capability)
VR isn't properly executed
No kickstand !
Loudspeaker is on the back, and it sucks
Front and rear glass more vulnerable than ever before
Bezel-size around 73%, still short of the 80% golden point

Man these specs make the N9 and Jolla seem like a joke.
:'(

Won't buy on the basis of these specifications. Might buy the next, even-numbered iteration :) (I passed also on version 3).

Concerning the infamous rear speaker, I had a nice improvement by installing and fiddling with Viper4Android Fx which you can find in http://vipersaudio.com/swupdate/vipe.../download.html .
You need root.

Sound is much more convincing enabling just a little bit reverberation, speaker optimization and extra-loud even with the crappy internal loudspeaker.

Hi debernardis!

There is another mod you might consider that makes a "surround sound effect" to quote.

"This mod will activate you front earpiece speaker in conjunction with the rear main speaker any time Speaker mode is used for example playing music, watching movies, shows, you tube and so on, creating an almost surround sound type of effect. "
