freemangordon, do you recommend overclocking along with CSSU-Thumb?

thanks : )

Man, there are TONS of thread about overclocking on TMO, with zillions of "good advices". Do you really think we need another one here?

Got one question, i just flashed my n900 new, why is skype-ui* in the dependencies-list of mp-fremantle-community-pr? I dont need it, but cannot remove skype-ui* without removing mp-fremantle-community-pr.. is it save to remove it either?

It does not, but you seem to have some broken dependecies, if apt-get complains
Code:

Nokia-N900:~# apt-cache rdepends skype-ui-l10n-dede
skype-ui-l10n-dede
Reverse Depends:
  mp-fremantle-generic-pr
  skype-ui-l10n-mr0

Just remove the skype packages, watch closely if anything else will get removed as well, then install mp-fremantle-community-pr

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

This is what i get:
http://pastebin.com/kybfUjCe

After that manual reinstall following?
Code:

libssoautologin mp-fremantle-community-pr  rtcom-accounts-ui rtcom-accounts-voip-support rtcom-messaging-ui rtcom-notification-ui
i remember it reinstalls all skype packages either...

michaaa62 2012-10-12 18:46

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

That is because you installed rtcom-accounts-ui, rtcom-notification-ui, libssoautologin, and rtcom-accounts-voip-support, which all depend on skype* packages
Code:

apt-cache policy rtcom-accounts-ui rtcom-notification-ui libssoautologin rtcom-accounts-voip-support
will show you.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

tnx, still same result, and same reboot. There is an warning in xterm but for second, can`t see what exactly, its a really fast reboot something like
Code:

dokill apt-get...can`t find process to kill hildon-application-manager
edit: one more thing, after last reboot xterm asked to run
Code:

dpkg --configure -a
Result :
Code:

dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/available` near line 37064 package `modest-nokiamessaging-plugin-l10n-nlnl`:
EOF after field name `Maint`
E: sub-process `/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

copy /var/lib/dpkg/*-old /var/lib/dpkg/*, though probably hard to do in a bootloop

I have had so many problems with CSSU-thumb (handy freezes at least 20 times a day ...), that I flashed a backup. Now anything works fine without CSSU-thumb.

That is possible. I am not that expert. I made a backup before installing CSSU-thumb. In other words: I installed it, not more or less. I do not know exactly, what has been installed ...

@ unexpected

you need leafpad installed to do this :
Code:

sudo leafpad /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list
then look for the repo you want to disable and remove it or comment it by adding # at the line beginning, and dont forget to save the file after changes ;)
hope this help

./sifo

If you know how vi works you don't need extra installed software for text editing but for the ease of it I would suggest nano or leafpad indeed.

Heh strange, right? This is
Code:

Well situation is:

Major problem is maemo-optify-runonce, when i try to install them, in any possible way, phone slide to reboot.

Oh well, only soultion is reflash. I hate reflash... But

Well, following instructions in first page - to the letter - should be enough to have everything installed as it should be. It seems, that something went wrong, in your case.

I know, that it may sounds quite complicated for someone who is new to Maemo's hacking (or just power-use) - but, remember, that, despite being 100% stable, thumb2 is still kinda experimental stuff (strange to say about thing, that is working on my main device for ages ;) )

If You haven't succeed on first time, try again, ensuring, that every step went OK. then, if it doesn't work well, ask for help *before* reflashing to vanilla - after all, verifying installed kernel would be very easy, and everyone would happily point you to uname -r and ask for output.

Unless you've decided to live without thumb2, of course. If that is the case - well, fair enough.

/Estel
