Just did the update. Mine's giving the error you mentioned. *sigh*

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

N810 with DC v1.0.9-1 working perfectly again (with Gizmo and/or any other forwarding number). Interestingly, nothing works directly from the Mobile GV site for me.

Thanks epage (and anyone that helped).

I guess I've been a bad boy -- I've had Extras-Devel enabled pretty much since my second week of N810 ownership (June 2009). Oops. Reflashing doesn't bother me, so I haven't looked at it as much of a risk. I am starting to grow more dependent on my N810, so I decided to heed your warnings and disable that repo.

Thanks again for your quick work on this!

Did 1.0.8 also not work for you? Trying to gather some kind of sense of what these errors mean

EDIT: Is your callback Gizmo or a normal phone? Domestic or international call?

For me, the error occurs with a Gizmo callback and domestic calls.

So to double check this, with 1.0.9 you get the same behavor (just different error) as 1.0.8, meaning GIzmo callback doesn't work but a normal phone callback works?

I didn't report any problems with 1.0.8. I may not have even used that version. I only use DialCentral occasionally.

This seems to be the case, yes.

Callback is Gizmo, Domestic. I did not see the last error I mentioned under 1.0.8.

TheOneRing Status

Last night I had a SMS conversation inside of Empathy.

Bugs
* On startup when a threaded GV SMS conversation has been appended, the whole conversation gets shown
* Resource leaks
** Channels
** Connection

Issues
* Empathy isn't letting me set my presence, still investigating why
* Empathy isn't letting me make calls, still investigating why

Thanks. So my fix helped some people, broke others. Great. I'm unsure what I should do about this besides throw in more things to be logged to try and narrow down the issue.

Everyone getting error code 20, if you haven't already please confirm that it is only with Gizmo and not regular phone callbacks. If you get it with more than Gizmo and I missed your post, please re-post. Also, most Gizmo callbacks start with 1747, does anyone have one that isn't?

For the bug on this, see

I'll look into this. btw have you tried 1.0.9 to see if you get any callback issues?

I'm probably being stupid, but are there supposed to be contacts in my 'Contacts' tab? :)
I've honestly never paid attention, but just noticed that no one shows up in there. I do have contacts that show up on the gvoice page, and obviously in my n900's Contacts application, but the Dialcentral tab is empty.

At the top is the way to select the contact source. The default is "None" but you can select "Google Voice" or the filename of a CSV file if you use some backdoor means to import it.

Do you see none when it says "None" or "Google Voice"?

Hi Epage.
I see it. Text size in contacts little bit larger than on other pages....
What do you think about change "None" to "Select Source of contacts". I didn't know that it is possible to change contacts before this post.

And I have callback on Gizmo!!!!

Thanks, epage. I didn't reallize that 'None' was clickable, I guess I thought it was just telling me there weren't any contacts...

It does take forever to load the contacts, but in my TheOneRing work, I've sped that up. Eventually I'll need to update Dialcentral with that speed up to (and add import capability to Dialcentral so you can add CSV contact lists without using the command line)

Integration with the built-in contacts manager would be good too, but it sort of seems that TheOneRing will take care of that.

Are you still going to maintain DialCentral after you finish TheOneRing?

Yes. The level of maintenance? it depends.

If I am able to get The One RIng working on Maemo 4.1, then things will be peachy. If not, Dialcentral will need a higher level of maintenance as long as the community is still strong there.

Overall I think Dialcentral has some uses still but if people ask me to improve the texting to be more IM like, I'll reject those and point them to The One Ring.

I tried to integrate with the system contacts at one time. Unfortunately, whatever I did worked with Evolution on the desktop but not Maemo 4.1. I haven't tried since (which Hermes provides some good examples related to that).

Just a thought re: TheOneRing.
I'm not sure which parts you're planning to implement first, but might I suggest that the initial focus be on integration with the native Contacts application and dialing/sending sms? I'm not sure what plans are like in the rest of the world, but here I'd imagine that most n900 owners are on one of Tmobile's "Plus" plans with text and data, so they probably have unlimited texting (which can be forwarded from gvoice) and the builtin SIP client for Gizmo (so they can receive calls). Once the initial text is sent it's easy to continue the conversation using the builting Conversations application; the main problem is either making the call or sending the first text so that your gvoice CID is transmitted. Given unlimited sms messaging the ability to pull texts directly from Google Voice is a secondary concern, at least in my use case, and the current SIP client seems to be fine for Gizmo. A 'complete' version would be great (with support for the Gizmo account and texts directly from Google), but I think most users would be 90% satisfied just being able to initiate communication from the Contact list using their gvoice number.

I'm assuming Diablo from your signature

I'd be curious if that works for you or if they just rolled out the change around the time you upgraded.

Thanks. I don't know if they did but as of this posting the error persists with 1.0.9-1.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Now that I have a dataplan, I thought I might try Gizmo again in case my router was setup incorrectly. Unfortunately GIzmo is as broken for me now as it was a couple months ago, no out-bound calls work no matter the interface I use, all inbound calls are considered No Answer, and I doubt direct SIP calls would work.

So verified, I have no way to debug this or track any Google outages related to Gizmo.

EDIT: Could someone get me a log Gizmo log for 1.0.9-1 (Ctrl+l to copy it, paste it somewhere) either publicly, email, PM, whatever.

Re: Dialcentral 1.0

Another The One Ring status update:

What works
Full texting conversation in empathy

Setting of presence works in empathy
  • Available - frequency of checking of new texts based on activity
  • Offline
  • Busy - Checks for new texts every X minutes
  • Hidden - Do Not Disturb

Bunches of bugs were fixed
  • Closing and re-opening of chat windows (empathy)
  • Switching between Available and Offline repeatedly
  • etc

Known issues:

Empathy now shows TheOneRing as being capable of making calls but for some reason it never actually makes the call. I'm still investigating this.

On startup, might show previously shown messages

DialCentral uses Google Voice so you have to get an invite, there is an invite thread on this forum you can ask for one there.

Just saw that TheOneRing was in -devel :)
How are thngs coming? I played around a bit and saw that I could create contact fields for gvoice, but once I tap one it takes me to the VOIP and IM accounts screen. There doesn't seem to be a way to create an account for Google Voice though.
Also (just fyi) the phone icon is too large for that contact field (it cuts off the text up to "Voice") and it only adds one button to the contact, not a "call" and "sms" button.
If there's anything in particular I can test for you just let me know, and thanks again for creating such a promising application.

Now that I've got that out of the way. I am doing testing right now trying to figure out how to get RTCom to allow me to create a new account with it. I didn't even look to see if its appeared anywhere else though....

This got me thinking and I went ahead and investigated it. I think I know now how to create buttons all 4 buttons for the user, Call/SMS for GV/Tel. Even if I still don't know how to create accounts, I guess I'll go ahead and get this in

Sounds like maybe a routing problem or something with the Gizmo SIP setup. Which tablet are you using, and what are your settings like for that account?
