I must admit it can get rather tiring reading through this thread with all the, speculation, wish lists, ups and downs, only for developers theory, the masses might not get a HW keyboard and on and on. Nokia, just bring on the BEAST!

I'm just imagining the Maemo/Meego folks at Nokia pouring over this thread and patting themselves on the back. They've got us all very excited about this device. And I also love the fact that the editing of the teaser ad is so quick, it's almost as if they set up a challenge for us: "Let's give them 0.25 seconds glimpse of the multitasking/bezel width/number of pixels and watch them write 9000 words about it." Well it worked!! :)

shhh, the truth is, I don't want to be accused later for having leaked the real display resolution, being it 800x480, 1280x720 or any other resolution...:D

As a fellow SGS owner that screen is no real 800x480. It's a pentile screen and that's quite visible on certain web pages or on reading pdf files.

I agree. I reckon they'd sell out in 24 hours if they released this tomorrow! But I just really hope it is available soon, I will be pre-ordering, not going to wait for the price to drop - "here! Nokia! Take my debit card! Oh, my pin number? Sure! It's ****! Now get me this beauty - pronto!!" :)

I would be happy with 12mp camera, but to be really honest, if I want to take good photos indoors when a flash is needed, my Panasonic Lumix does a great job. And also, the dual led flash on my N900 doesn't actually do a terrible job for those 'out at night in the pub' shots. So this is NOT a deal breaker for me. What would be? ..... Wow, I couldn't think of anything!! haha

It's taken from the vid, I don't know more. If the teaser is completely shopped, so be it! Also I consider the base of the V to be 2px wide (compared to the sides).

btw. to end user it doesn´t matter :| Speed is king no matter how it is played behind curtains. Only people who are really interested are people hanging around here :|

IMO it should not take more than 3 secs and should not halt whole OS while doing these heavy I/O operations.

Where is the proof that this is even true?

Because the chances of them using the SAME processor that they used in a 2 year old phone is HIGHLY unlikely, especially as it is the successor to that phone..

Most likely going to be based on one of them ST Ericson bases, hopefully the one with the A9 and the Adreno GPU which looked perfect espc as nokia partnered with them AND ST Ericcson did show off a MeeGo running prototype of the U8500 system.

Yeah. I know that actually. It just copies the apk file.
But it's interestinig that, to the end user, it's what it is.

What I really want for my N900 is the ability to play 720p files.
I hate re-encoding / re-downloading as it can only play SD videos.
So yeah, the hardware is lacking there for sure.

Also, I would like a bigger screen / more resolution now.

Actually, Nokia will surprise the world if N9/50 uses this new LCD:

Installing some Qt based applications on Android pulls and installs the whole Qt library (temporarily codenamed Necessitas there) which is a dependency. So it does not take 3 seconds at all. Installing shared dependencies when needed is a reasonable practice, otherwise each application will bloat the device with privately bundled libraries.

The fact that Android installation doesn't handle binary dependencies resolution natively it's not an advantage - it's actually a deficiency of design, caused by the original absence of Android NDK and idea of all applications being Dalvik based. Now that Android has an NDK, it becomes a total mess.

The 64gb specs looks to be consistent in both spec sheets so that is great news to me. Going from a 40gb n900 to 16gb htc HD7 really hurts
