Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
I'm just imagining the Maemo/Meego folks at Nokia pouring over this thread and patting themselves on the back. They've got us all very excited about this device. And I also love the fact that the editing of the teaser ad is so quick, it's almost as if they set up a challenge for us: "Let's give them 0.25 seconds glimpse of the multitasking/bezel width/number of pixels and watch them write 9000 words about it." Well it worked!! :)

Maybe someone at a different timezone would like to take a look at this post: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=221
I'm going to bed... Maybe you could prove erendorn right or wrong: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=327 shhh, the truth is, I don't want to be accused later for having leaked the real display resolution, being it 800x480, 1280x720 or any other resolution...:D |

that's unintentional marketing... :D imagine if everything worked out and *nobody* would have known about the device until announcement. then throw a week until shipment. baaam. huge sales. mission accomplished... but this here works nearly as well.. |

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
So we are closing in these specs i guess: http://maemobriefs.blogspot.com/2010...20-screen.html

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
Look how a rumor begin ...
Zehjotkah said that it's the first device to have this resolution : http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/18/t...ppi-coming-to/ :D |

from the new (rumored?) specs:
Battery: 1320 mAh looks like a bad sign to me... but then again, i hope the new hardware is just much more efficient. |

I am hoping with all my might that theres a Xenon flash :P
Just please, why would you stick a 12MP camera with a nice big sensor together in a phone with Dual LED.... >.< |
Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
yep, 1200 mAh in FCC report.

CPU Type: ARM Cortex-A8
....so no dualcore then (a8 = single core, a9 = dual core, a15 = quadcore) |

Will there be a functional NITdroid with voice calls for N9?

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
I would be happy with 12mp camera, but to be really honest, if I want to take good photos indoors when a flash is needed, my Panasonic Lumix does a great job. And also, the dual led flash on my N900 doesn't actually do a terrible job for those 'out at night in the pub' shots. So this is NOT a deal breaker for me. What would be? ..... Wow, I couldn't think of anything!! haha

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
never mind 720p, all i want is qHD, so 960x540.

IMO it should not take more than 3 secs and should not halt whole OS while doing these heavy I/O operations. |

Where is the proof that this is even true? Because the chances of them using the SAME processor that they used in a 2 year old phone is HIGHLY unlikely, especially as it is the successor to that phone.. Most likely going to be based on one of them ST Ericson bases, hopefully the one with the A9 and the Adreno GPU which looked perfect espc as nokia partnered with them AND ST Ericcson did show off a MeeGo running prototype of the U8500 system. |

But it's interestinig that, to the end user, it's what it is. What I really want for my N900 is the ability to play 720p files. I hate re-encoding / re-downloading as it can only play SD videos. So yeah, the hardware is lacking there for sure. Also, I would like a bigger screen / more resolution now. Actually, Nokia will surprise the world if N9/50 uses this new LCD: (They say a device will use it this year. wonder what phone will use it?) http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/18/t...ppi-coming-to/ I'm hoping it's not the iPhone5...... |
Re: N9 hits FCC???
Installing some Qt based applications on Android pulls and installs the whole Qt library (temporarily codenamed Necessitas there) which is a dependency. So it does not take 3 seconds at all. Installing shared dependencies when needed is a reasonable practice, otherwise each application will bloat the device with privately bundled libraries.
The fact that Android installation doesn't handle binary dependencies resolution natively it's not an advantage - it's actually a deficiency of design, caused by the original absence of Android NDK and idea of all applications being Dalvik based. Now that Android has an NDK, it becomes a total mess. |

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
I'd be a little underwhelmed with the cpu.. but.. having held this device briefly, it's either very efficient or else these specs are wrong because the phone is very fast and snappy..

Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
What exactly is Flash 1.10?
Was that reversed? Even so... today my Xoom and Atrix got an update to Flash Player 10.3. |
Re: Nokia N9 Teaser - is this meego or harmattan?
The 64gb specs looks to be consistent in both spec sheets so that is great news to me. Going from a 40gb n900 to 16gb htc HD7 really hurts
