All must be taken with a grain of salt until it is announced on August 2.
But most rumours agree with what you say.
Also supposed to be some improvements to capability of s-pen
Curved on both edges like S7.
IP68 water proofing.
Larger standard memory 64GB
Possibly up to 6GB ram
Battery size increased.
Camera goes from 16MP to 12MP but now f/1.7 so does better in low light.
For folks in US may come with SD 820. Some say will come with SD823 which has a little better clock speed

Unless the Note 7 is bigger, I don't see the point of having curved edges as this will take away useful space from the spen. I'm hoping the phone is 6' or goes moves away from current aspect ratio (i.e. needs to be wider)

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Half a neo in more ways than just price....
plus in 4 + years the planned obsolescence will make it a very expensive paperweight ... buying it new, now.

no.

used at half that sum ...still no.

I almost like the whole phablet size thingie... but then the size thingie ends up being a complete issue ... finding a pocket big enough... not to mention taking a call ...and holding a billboard to my head is a bit much.
At the other end of the spectrum... the n900 screen real estate is pretty tiny.
I have good eyes... but still... (sigh)
the sweet spot was the n8x0 ... perhaps a wee bit larger even...but phablets just aren't portable enough for my liking ... going for hikes and all...
enough of my divergent behaviour from the original topic...
and back to it...
Friend of mine pooched his galaxy s4 ...
if I could fix it it was mine.
hahaaha...
fixed.
new toy to play with...

If such a device as a brand new note 7 were given?
perhaps...
Not sure I want to carry the thing around.

is it worth it?

For me... in so many ways....
No.
I'll wait for my neo.

mscion 2016-07-11 13:44

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

It's a tough call for me. Rumored specs seem to be getting
lower as release date approaches (was 6GB now 4GB) yet price getting higher...

So neo900 is twice as expensive?

Latest device is almost never worth it if money is parameter :D

For 900 euros you can pick up 3 pretty Ok devices in US or two in Europe.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

hahahahahaa

damn that was funny.

Hey! Perfection takes time y'know!?!?! :D

Considering the device landscape ...
if it came out 10 yrs from now...
the neo would still be better than the comp.

And to the question of double the cost?
the beating the canadian dollar took a year and a half ago ...coupled with the increase in the cost from the original estimate to the current estimate ...it escalated the price of the neo for me... to uglificating proportions.. still I think it worth the price.

mscion 2016-07-11 19:53

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

So cost is about $1800 for neo900? Btw. Not too crazy about the name. Since it is a Neo N900, why was it not called the NEON900?

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Hi guys, my Note 2 died last night, seems like a busted emmc. It says failed to mount efs (no such file or directory) when I tried to reset, can't flash rom with Odin or Heimdall either.
Do you guys know how to make android run on external SD card? Care to share the instructions?
BTW the N900 has outlived it (I'm using it for this post) though I already had the keyboard replaced once and now many of the letters are held in place by blue tack. :p

Wow. Over 2.5 million sold in a few weeks! Over $800 per device means over 2 billion dollars spent on Note 7s! Clearly one of the "Hottest" phones on the market. And I do mean hot!

I'd buy a Note 4 with a landscape qwerty/qwertz keyboard, running Freemantle, in a heartbeat.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note

Not to start up a conspiracy theory about the Galaxy Note 7 overheating/fires, but... I was wondering. Some folk were surprised that the Note 7 had a bit smaller battery than the Galaxy S7. Not sure why. Maybe needed the space or cut costs or something. Regardless, to meet demanding performance needs and a longer lasting charge could Samsung have unwisely pushed the limits of the battery without carefully testing it. Had heard that one of the fixes was that Samsung was going to release an update for the phone to limit the battery maximum charge to 60% to prevent the overheating... I think that this was a proposed solution for devices sold in Korea. US consumer agency is having Samsung recall all Note 7s as of today...Too bad Samsung decided to make phone with non removable battery...

Yes. For the N900 there was a recall advice from Nokia for some potentially dangerous batteries and I got a free one shipped at home.

You know, you might have something there...

Although I hate the aspect ratio of screen, the Note 7 is a pretty durn good phone.

I wonder why, maybe because it is such an expensive device nobody has those...?
From CM pages I see there exist a build for all Note's 1...4. I friggin know if I had one of those there'd be zero chance it had android in it after 2 weeks in my possession :p

Maybe not giving a chance to Samsung the next time they caught fire. Otherwise they could blame SFOS causing the trouble... :D

Oh! That's good to know. I have Note 3 sitting around. Would you please provide a link. I'll check later myself. Last I had checked there was basically zero progress on these devices. Only significant inroads mainly on Nexus.

Sure I could build you an image, but it always needs adjusting before it's complete and that could prove to be tedious;
I make image -> you flash it and provide me with logs -> I build new image -> you privide me with new logs... ... ...

Sure! I'd be interested in giving it a try.

Amazing how much better the specs are on the Note 3 than the Jolla and Jolla C.

EDIT: I haven't checked here in a while but I see some progress on several devices including some with hwkb. Only port for Note series is the original one. But much work needed here.

If they manage to bounce back and don't quit making phones once and for all. This latest hoobla is estimated to cost them around 17 billion euros.

This could be turned into how Tizen starts to become their main push though.
