Hi Emev, how would I know if they put white housing on black 64? is there a way to tell? I ordered already, but starting to worry..

Yes, by checking the product code on the SIM tray (7 characters long, starts with 059). If you google it, you will see which variant you have. If the SIM tray has been replaced, then it's harder. If there is no sticker on the tray, then it has probably been replaced.

Using software (e.g. flashing tools) you can read it too, but it can also be modified from there. Maybe someone who has more experience with this can give you further information.

Damn there are no new n9 available in India. All n9 on ebay India are gone. Dont know if ebay.com is safe enough.

Exactly…worldwide, not just India….N9s are getting scarce folks…better pick one up before they are all gone forever. I'm weary of the ebay ones they claim new, but have no choice

[UK] I picked up a black 16GB N9 on ebay "New" from China, which actually came from Germany for some reason. At £125 I thought it would be an interesting replacement for my ageing N900 and it turns out I really like it.

It seems new as far as I can tell, although I suspect the plastic USB cover has been replaced, and possibly the SIM tray. The capacitive screen sometimes misbehaves when using the swype keyboard and inserts a lot of "noise" drawn as zigzags when swiping across the keyboard, but not always and if i just keep drawing lines it stops. I think this is humidity and temperature dependant, and possibly the haptic feedback is partly to blame. Most of the time it's fine, and the standard keyboard and normal interaction, eg clicking browser links, is actually very accurate.

It came with pr1.3, everything seems to be ok and I couldn't be much happier with it. It has a vodaphone boot screen, so it may be locked to vodaphone but I'm with them anyway. The provided headset didn't work, and the usb charger whines a bit, but I don't really care about the accessories, my old N900 ones work fine.

Hi guys, the one from NewEgg Direct for $199…well, Im trying to return it because the plastic is peeling in the Sim Tray…I thought it was supposed to be a polycorbanate mono block..how can plastic be peeling? And the box was NOT sealed like KingStu said his was...

That was a fairly common issue for the sim tray* as I recall, hardly a reason to be returning it, can't recall the specifics about why it occurred, do some searching.

I already had one 64GB N9 where I changed casing year ago from black to white due to peeling issues. However, I just bought one used, but good condition original black 64GB N9 for 103 EUR / 141 USD and I am quite happy with that deal.

*I have to admit that actually black casing looks a lot better on N9 than the white one. I just do not like the polycarbonate casings peeling issues...

Yeah, that jogs my memory now, the peeling issue was far more common with the black enclosures.
I don't think the black enclosures look quite as good, but maybe my opinion would change after owning both side-by-side for a extended period.

Herbetrade is on his last one - he sold like 5 in the last month (64 gig white finland). Still waiting for mine, I ordered snail mail..he confirmed multiple times over email that its genuine and not re-housed..we shall see...

Don't really know ...
Everything looks right, but, after better check, sim tray says "made in finland" but usb tray don't fit perfectly, and has a little "made in china" written on it ...
N9 was deliverd in an opened nokia oem box, so perhaps usb tray has been replaced, perhaps something else, every doubt are allowed ... i'll never know.

I didn't sent back my opinion on ebays about herbetrade, my opinion will be neutral as they sent i rapidly, phone works fine but i doubt it's a real original new phone ...

Interesting. By the way, Amazon is selling direct (no 3rd party) for $546. It seems like all the ~$200 ones on Ebay and Amazon have been touched in one way or another. Maybe the higher priced direct Amazon one would be sealed box?

Because all the ~$200 ones have been opened and tampered with, and they are selling as new. I have yet to see a sealed box N9

And even you will find a 'sealed' one, you need trust the seller!
A sticker is faked faster/easier as the other parts (like charger, earphones, etc.), or it is even 'original' chinese refurbish Nokia sticker ...

sadly there are no n9 on ebay india but strangely a jolla phone has appeared today. Priced at about $475 it comes with all the accesssories but not with the box. I bet it wont work with the frequencies available in my country.

And this is from a Hong Kong seller? I've seen a few of them on eBay at some enticing prices, but I was still a little skeptical.

I'm in the market for a 64GB (Made in Finland) one really soon, and preferably in white, or cyan, or any color if I'm able to replace the housing myself.
