End of off-topic. This release really is something that fits to concept on N900. |
Re: Nokia has exciting news for N900 users
I just can't believe it, fcam is the "exciting news"??? I love my N900 but come on who can disagree with me when i say Nokia just have no clue, the OS has soooo many simple bugs that could be fixed, really small ones that don't bother me much but would make the phone just that bit better... Instead it's as if they trawled this forum to find the thing least complained about and then fixed that!?!?!?
The camera? Of all things to get our hopes up about! AAAaaaargh! |

This is a really cool release, and it stands to get better if people can contribute back to it. There is some info on this available here: http://fcam.garage.maemo.org/ Hopefully we can build on this. The built-in camera app isn't all too great. This release takes us a step in the correct direction! |

Re: Nokia has exciting news for N900 users
Hey everyone,
I'm one of the developers on the FCam project, and I'm pretty excited to get the whole API out to the N900 community. This is a joint project between our research group at Stanford University and Nokia Research Center Palo Alto, which started out a couple years back. Most of the development work on FCam has been done at Stanford, with lots of testing and app development on the Nokia Research side. Just a few quick links for those interested in FCam and FCamera: FCam webpage FCam garage project page Stanford PR A few notes on crashes: We didn't know about Titan's kernel before this morning, and it looks like fcam-driver conflicts with it - we'll add that as a conflict until we sort out why the two don't coexist. Make sure you reboot before running fcamera - the drivers won't load until the next restart of the phone. We're going to update fcamera to make the error message clearer later today, to make it clearer what's going on. Please report bugs to our forum or bug tracker, please, so we can get them fixed! You can find both at the Maemo garage page. Thanks for trying it out, we're hoping lots of cool apps come out this. |
